Did you guys know that Lee Sin's E does magic damage?
But scales with 100% bonus AD?
Why? Why do you have an AD scaling ability that does magic damage? I thought they were removing those for the sake of clarity?

AD scaling abilities that do magic damage are cool, and we need more of them. It was my favorite part of pre-rework Miss Fortune, but it was removed (RIP). At least Katarina still has it, for now.
Cool? How? They are utter ass to build against.
One of my favorite parts of LoL is crafting builds, and they make that process more interesting.
As for building against, 1- it's no different from fighting against any other mixed damage champ (ex: kog'maw) and 2- the game is a 5v5, so you're not usually building against a single champion.
I suppose you have a point, but it just frustrates me when a champions build doesn't fully explain their damage type and I need to either die to them or look it up while playing to know the proper resistances.
It's actually why I hated fighting Mundo. Took me a while to learn that his abilities did magic damage despite not building AP (except his E I think).
Well tanks don't build any damage items and still do some damage, so looking at their items isn't going to help you figure out what kind of damage they do. But if you have floaters turned on, you can see either red or purple numbers when you get hit. (or white. shakes fist)
I didn't say mundo is a tank but the point applies to him as well, since he doesn't usually build any damage items either, unlike other juggernauts
but not having time to look at the little numbers is what the death recap is for. It sucks that it's only available when you actually die, but at least it only takes dying once.
Ahh. Ok yeah I can see your point. My apologies for assuming.
With all the QoL features League is adding to catch up to DOTA 2 ( such as alt-clicking an ability to announce its cooldown ), I wouldn't be surprised if the HUD display that occurs when you click on a unit will be expanded to include their abilities, too.
It's not something I've ever really used myself because I voraciously consume the wiki for these types of games, but it's a handy little thing that allows players to see exactly what an ability does even if they're not playing the champion.
Mordekaiser has that too, on Q and E.
Also, a lot of on-hit champions deal mixed damage, 'cause most on-hit are magical but you still deal physical damage with your base attack, so the situation is kinda similar.
I understand it's a bit frustrating/unintuitive, but I'm not convinced it's a real problem that needs to be addressed...
But Mordekaiser's Q and E have both AD and AP scalings which I actually see as ok because he can build either (and it's better for him to build AP).
Lee's damage stat is AD and gets free mixed damage if he builds it.
You're right that it's not really a high priority problem and I don't run into it enough (I only noticed it when I played him in a bot game with friends). I just find it weird that it's still like this since other AD only magic damage abilities have been dying out.
They have been dying out mostly as reworks happened. Lee hasn't got one yet.
Plus, your own Sion has built-in mixed damage, without building damage at all. That's part of why he's so reliable in lane.
True Sion has mixed damage, but it's not like each ability is just mixed damage. I'm not arguing against mixed damage. I'm arguing that it's weird to have an only AD scaling ability that deals magic damage.
Yes i do, and that's why i don't build black cleaver on lee
but did you know that lee isn't the only one?

say thanks to riot.
Wait, Trynd has an AD scaling magic damage ability?
And I thought Shaco's magic damage was only from his AP abilities.
I also know jack shit about Aatrox. And Malphite doesn't have AD scalings last I remember.
tryndamere's E is physical damage my bad
shaco's E is like lee, has 1.0 bonus physical damage scaling and does magic damage malphite's W : BONUS PHYSICAL DAMAGE: 15 / 30 / 45 / 60 / 75 (+ 15% armor) (+ 10% AP)
AP scaling into physical damage, that's terrible.
Trynda and Aatrox have an AP scaling, physical damage ability, so the opposite, but it's not really relevant here 'cause they don't really build AP. Same for Malphite (but Malphite does build a little AP regularly).
For Shaco, his thrown dagger deals Magic damage, and scale with both AP and AD, same as Morde.
Jayce actually has 2 abilities scaling with AD and dealing magic damage.

The difference is that these champs have abilities that scale with both ap and ad
shaco is the only one played as AP by one guy (shaclone) malphite isn't played AD and has physical damage, trynd isn't played AP and has an AP ratio, same for aatrox, and jayce doesn't have an AP ratio on his E and R.
Jax' Q scales with AD and AP and does physical damage.
But scales with 100% bonus AD?

even if they are it doesn't mean theyre doing all of it right away
Because that's how you balance something like full AD Lee Sin. Imagine if it did physical damage and he built 2 armor pen items. He would be oneshotting people much more efficiently.
