PSA: If you just hit level 30 / Got 20 champs, don't do ranked.
I went into a promos game today thinking that I'd get a normal game. Of course, like any player that is below plat elo, I was incredibly wrong. In champ select, we got a mid laner who had EXACTLY 20 champs (the minimum required to play ranked) and could ONLY play Yasuo. And guess what.... Yasuo got banned, like he is 40%~ ish of the time in low elo ranked. So he asked me to swap roles, and me being support, I said sure. He then locked in Ashe, which isn't really a support at all.... so trying to work around this (our actual ADC didn't wanna duo ADC bot lane, or maybe since by that time we realized he had no champions, he just knew that he probably wasn't that great) our actual ADC went mid GP and I just remained support cause otherwise we woulda had no utility on the team whatsoever. You can guess how the preceding game went..... 0/10 later, he/she is yelling at us because we aren't playing correctly blah blah blah.
Its a little annoying that you placed someone that has never played ranked before and only has 20 champions into a game with someone doing their promos. And I understand that its RNG, but why should everything be left to RNG to dictate how your game may go? I kinda think individual skill should be tracked when your doing your first ever promos, and you shouldn't just boost them up an elo for winning one game. I looked at his match history after the match and it was as follows.
VICTORY: Ranked Solo - Yasuo 5/9/7 LOSS: Ranked Solo - Yasuo 2/13/4 LOSS: Ranked Solo - Darius 0/11/0 LOSS: Ranked Solo - Yasuo 5/7/2 VICTORY: Ranked Solo - Yasuo 8/18/13
I understand a certain amount of teammate RNG, but I think its a bit rude to be putting someone that was underperforming, is new to ranked, and has exactly 20 champs, with someone trying their hardest to go through their promos.
And I understand that this was partially my fault. I probably shoulda just took ADC and dealt with the duo ADC bot lane.... But I'm a support main, and my support instincts were telling me "Oh, we need this" So I understand I could have changed something to maybe make it better, but I still think that this shouldn't be happening to begin with. Like he LITERALLY just got 20 champions, which probably means he just recently hit level 30 as well, and while I completely understand giving these players the chance they deserve to be placed accordingly, I think that since they ARE new to ranked, they shouldn't be placed with people trying to get through their promos, because most of them are lacking a few key things maybe even a couple weeks of ranked may teach them.
But sadly Rito doesn't do this, so for now, to all those people hitting level 30 and wanting to play ranked: Wait! Learn to play a couple champions in each role, and get a decent array of champions for each role. Please, and thank you.
