Can we turn Sona from a poke support to a more utility based one?

I know this might sound weird, since Sona is at a "healthy" spot according to her winrates, but what I don't think is healthy on her is, that she needs to rush at least a Lich Bane to have more impact in a game than before. And honestly I can agree with the players who play against her; she deals alot of damage, but that's because she's a mage as secondary role too, though, the fact that her poke is unavoidable, except if you have an Yasuo, Braum, or playing an champion who can turn invulnerable for an second, is not healthy in my opinion. I'm not talking about her 700 range Q that barley tickles you, I'm talking about the powerchord proc + on-hit damage from her aura. Add an sheen to it, and she deals alot of unavoidable, hybrid damage. I know, Riot wanted to push her from an passive/aura champion to a champion with more power and impact, yet it was a mistake to focus her Q in this rework, while her W and E remained pretty much untouched.

Her prework used her auras as utility resource, wich was pretty neat in my opinion, yet auras are hard to balance, wich is kinda true, since giving her prework auras an AP ratio would been extremly hard to balance, yet her current auras don't offer that much of utility wich is sad. We've had alot of those threads that asked buffs for her, yet it's not bringing us any further, cause everyone focuses extremly on her auras instead of something else. Though, how about we'll focus on her Powerchords instead for now? Cause they desperatly need changes, mostly because of the different cooldowns on all her abilities, wich makes it pretty hard to have the right Powerchord up at time, and the fact that the Dimuendo(W) and Tempo(E) Powerchords are not as pleasing to use than her Staccato(Q) Powerchord. Honestly, after the ridiculous mana cost nerfs on her W with the nerf of her heal, Dimuendo has gotten one of my least favorable to use Powerchords in lane, cause using it will only leave me with an empty manapool.

What do I suggest? First giving Sonas abilities an fixed cooldown on all abilities. 8/10/12 is just right now too hard to utilize in my opinion, because you won't have her abilities up at the right time, and charging powerchords is taking alot of time than it used to be. 9/9/9 or even 10/10/10 would work out much better, and would give Sona again the ability to charge powerchords more evenly.

As well I'd suggest to rework Sonas Powerchords slightly, because right now they don't scale very well into late game, except if you build a shitton of Ability Power.

My suggestions would be:

> Staccato: Powerchord damage is increased by 40% -> Powerchord damage is increased by 20/25/30/35/40% (5% increased damage per Q rank)

> Dimuendo: Damage output of target is decreased by 20%(+2% per 100 AP) -> Damage output of target is decreased by 10/15/20/25/30%(+1.5% per 100 AP)(5% decreased damage output per W rank)

> Tempo: Targets movement speed is reduced by 40%(+4% per 100 AP) -> Target is stunned for 0.6/0.7/0.8/0.9/1.0 seconds (0.1 second per E rank)

I guess for the Q and W powerchords there should is no explanation needed, yet I can see why some of you guys would disagree with a stun-powerchord. Yet, why do I suggest it? Sona is one of those supports who can't peel at all pre-6, and this slow is not any useful sadly, mostly if you'll get an Iceborn Gauntlet on Sona, completly replacing her Tempo Powerchord (and it has a small aoe too!) And giving much more utility, survivability, and being everytime useable after you've casted a spell, it's pretty easy to understand why it's much better than her current Tempo Powerchord. Yet, I can see people complaining about targeted cc, yet there are a handful of champions who can cc enemies with point and click.

I wouldn't say that this is the best solution, though I think it would be a step in the right direction at giving Sona some more power in a healthier way. Sincere!

Her poke is strong in the early game, after that its negligible...unless she rushes a item 3057 then they don't have item 2049...que incoming ganks...If you're not using her other power chords then you're not playing Sona right...

Sona is actually full of utility and is only a poke mage during the laning phase. Those Q's look sick when you've got a lot of AP though.

The mistake I see is people using her kit for hit and run poke and healing just to heal.

When her lane partner coordinates with with her poke they get extra damage off with her aura.... Also, if you use the heal while your trading damage with the opponent... there is a window where both of you are shielded for a similar amount. Either they break the shield or are backpedaling because of the shield.

She's full of 'hidden' utility that is just as important for her allies to know about as it is for her enemies. It's frustrating when you know this but your adc doesn't attack with you and eats some poke when your at full health. She's absolutely laced with utility though, OP.

A lot of the utility simply comes from support item purchases. Don't discount the usefulness of a locket, or banner of command. They can deffinetly add to the utility sona's got. And yes, her poke is mostly Early game. You can supplement her late game poke with a Lich bane, But I would probably only do that if I was already snowballing.

Check back on sona if those Ardent Censer buffs hit life. It will be a must buy for me if they do.

Sona's power comes from her passive and getting in aa range of the adc/support, which for a champ with the absolute shittiest health at the beginning of the game, is kind of risky. Sona is absolutely fine where she is. Besides, sona gets reamed by tank supports like leona, blitz and thresh, and even other poke supports like morg and karma. She has a strong early game, weaker mid game, and depending on your build, a great late game or medicore late game.
