Balancing Darius around his Q makes him either Overwhelming or Underwhelming his E is the Answer

Brascus··2 votes·1,717 views

If you take the range out of his Q and put it in his E it solves 2 problems:

  • No more Q kiting immobile champs
  • Means to engage mobile champs with E

Less oppressive to immobile champs and much less oppressed by mobile champs. Whether or not his damage/debuffs need to be adjusted is something else but this should solve his interaction problems.

_P.S. Please remove that Q handle zone BS it's just ridiculous to counter a melee for being too close, there's no way of putting it eloquently it's just really dumb. _

Is there no discussion to be had without stating Darius is either outright overpowered or fine l2p?

Darius Q animation is too fast. Should be like a few minute windup while he shouts the name of his attack and gives a whole speech on doing shit for the glory of noxus.

Darius is balanced around his passive and ult... Its the only thing that makes him good late game.

Then why is everything put in his Q? His passive has no threat till 4-5 stacks, his Q is his hardest hitting skill, that gives stacks and heals, so he always uses it for trading and will use it more often than aa'ing (because his as is so slow) so it's almost the defacto way to apply stacks without a dunk combo.

You Q kite till you can dunk combo or you can't, this is why Darius either appears super strong or super weak because his kit is balanced around Q being the centerpiece of the kit strangling any versatility that would allow more diverse play.

People forget that if Darius can't Q you he can't get anything started, let alone live long enough to dunk.

What Noxian guillotine is his hardest hitting skill Dariuses aa reset combo is his best way to apply stacks

Only if you have 5 stacks, this caveat is something people ignore a whole lot. You won't see a whole lot of 5 stacks till you get item 3071 item 3742 item 3009 unless you're fighting immobile champs which Darius can already Q kite to death already.

Try thinking about it as if Darius can't use his Q, the only way he could build stacks is with aa which is slow af, and on top of that he'd have to blow W E W just to get 3 stacks tops, which btw the other champ has free reign to blow him up during that time and is very very far ahead in the trade, by the time Darius gets 5 stacks with just aa's he's dead and the other champ is around half health.

Now this scenario can actually happen if Darius is denied his Q, not only is Darius not getting out of this fight he had no chance of winning it to begin with. If you've played Darius you would be aware that if his Q does not land he's immediately at a disadvantage, however if he get's the Q off and then does a W E W aa combo, he's about ready to win. If it's an E W aa combo then he'll win if ignite's ready, and you can escape any of this unless you have some form of mobility/peel.

darius uses his Q to fish for heals or apply max stacks to as many people as possible after getting the AD steroid

you're gonna use your AAs to apply faster to one person most of the time

he's supposed to be weak to high mobility to begin with, because he's built to obliterate you if he catches you. seems perfectly fine to me

Right there! There's no if, he is either Garenteed to get you (immobile champs) or he can never get close enough (mobile champs). So there's no if, and with no if there's no counter play on either side.

i've had no trouble catching mobile champions, but you have to play around them because they have the advantage. that's how counterplay works; there's no one solution to Darius, which is.. exactly what the boards wanted, I thought?

hell, immobiles can be hard to deal with depending on who it is. Many immobile mages, especially, have reliable hard CC to stop him in his tracks. Veigar, Anivia, Viktor, Swain off the top of my head. They have a harder time not getting caught but IMO, a few of them can actually take him on straight-up with good play.

yeah, if he catches you. there's no guarantee that he'll get 5 stacks unless you pick someone who is somehow completely incapable of facing him (no champion comes to mind here -- most supports can kite him. Maybe Soraka, who has no business being near him anyway.) or you play really badly against him. that's good design; he has to both catch you AND stick to you long enough to become a threat. you can get caught and still get out safely if you play well, and you can play well but make one really bad mistake when he has his passive up and get annihilated.

he is easily the best-designed of the reworks

Well item 3742 item 3071item 3009 strengthens his engage and kiting, softening his vulnerability to mobile champs but only magnifying his dominance over immobile champs. You end up applying more stacks through aa than just Q because of this which means your damage is going up because you get to aa where as early game you mostly only get off your Q unless you go for a dunk combo.

That's the thing though he's either really strong or really weak, there's nothing in his kit to allow versatile counterplay.
