Armor would be a step in the right direction, but I also think it needs a Quill Armor type effect as well.

Eh, it might give tanks super fast clears if they stacked that with Gromp's smite buff. Could be something worth trying, though.

Also, does the Jungler passive proc on spells? That might be something they could do with the magnus enchant for junglers like fiddlesticks, malzahar, karthus, etc.

Faster clear speeds are what tanks like Nautilus desperately need.

I don't believe they will try another dot experiment. Did anyone remember the pre-nerfed item 3068? This item made jungler clearing so effective for it's price they released the level scaling on it to make it a less attractive buy early.

What made Quill so effectively was that it grant you mana while in combat. I would rather see buffs to these tanks that original benefit from them than bring this effect back.

sunfire was never to clear the jungle, what are u on

If they don't improve tank clear speeds they are never going to be able to compete in new jungle, especially the ones that lack aoe damage.

I'm curious: why do you think it needs armor?

There are already a plethora of great armor items. If a champion just wants flat armor, they can buy Frozen Heart or thornmail. If they want giant tank items with health and armor, they have randuins or sunfire. Ninja tabi is also a very attractive armor option for tanks that build juggernaut, since the tenacity on merc treads is wasted.

I generally don't have any trouble itemizing for armor as Juggernaut tanks. I honestly would prefer to hang onto the current health.

Agreed, like I said a 5% cdr boost on top of what it has should cover it and make it a perfectly viable option, more so than currently anyways. I just don't see the logic of tacking on armor, especially not at the cost of HP.

I agree 100%.

Because tank junglers are being forced into inefficient build orders due to the lack of armor or clear speed increase on it. Right now Juggernaut is just a very sub-optimal jungling item compared to the others. Personally, I just buy one of the other three jungling items on tank junglers while building my tank with the rest of my item slots. Of course that's not ideal either.

Adding some armor would be a nice way to buff Juggernaut, increasing the efficiency on it just a little bit. To everybody asking why add armor when there are armor items aplenty, I think I understand why armor could be good on this.

Basically, health increases your overall survival throughout a fight but it doesn't actually reduce the damage you take. With armor you would actually take less damage from jungle camps, allowing you to do what a tank does in the jungle (clears slower, but safer).

Also note that there is an extreme lack of Armor + CDR items (and adding some armor to this item would definitely assist in that itemization).

Honestly, the juggernaut enchantment isnt a bad buy

its just a worse choice than the other 3, especially as a first buy to help you clear the jungle.

I usually hold off on it and get a sunfire first.

If juggernaut had less stats, and had something to help you clear instead, then it would seem a much better buy. I personally would like to either see the return of quill coat's passive, or for juggernaut to have a mini-sunfire passive. Like 15 magic damage a second to enemies within 300 units.

I'd rather just throw an additional 5% cdr on top and be done with it tbh. Armor is easy come easy go, health isn't always so easy to sneak into a build unless you're going full tank, it limits picks like item 3110 on champions, adding 5% cdr would open the possibility of frozen heart+juggernaut straight to 40% cdr. I always feel pressured to get item 3143 over item 3110 because of the health.

CoolKnightST1 votes

It was never riot intention to force cdr capping that early in the game. I don't think they will ever release another item with 15% cdr right now.

You forgot the fact that most jungler tend to go 6 cdr glyphs in their current build right now. Together with the mastery this will give you a start of 10% cdr. Count the current juggernaut with this and you already can cap the cdr. Increasing the cdr to 15% will just bring more limitation and will make overcap situations even more frequently.

i think it's quite hilarious how many of the comments are trying to say

'We want the original Spirit of the Ancient Golem back!'

Not saying you all are in the wrong, but I think you need to come out and say it at least lol.

That what worries me. The opinions are divided and it feels whe drifting off to a solution. This where the stats from the original Spirit of the Ancient Golem. The point where tanks where on their strongest:

V1.0.0.152: +500 health, +30 armor, +14 health regen per 5 seconds, +7 mana regen per 5 seconds

Sound familiar? Than look closely what they did in patch V3.5. The moment tank jungle start to become underwhelming again:

V3.5: +500 health, +10% Cooldown Reduction, +14 health regen per 5 seconds, +7 mana regen per 5 seconds

Than they tried a different way:

V4.11: +200 health, +20 armor, +10% Cooldown Reduction, 25% Bonus Health, Passive: Sapping Barbs, Active: Hunter's Ward

How the community likes it on not. The moment their was armor in the item. The item felt less underwhelming.

That's why I think riot really should test

+400 health, 30 armor, +10% cooldown reduction

Don't do anything to Juggernaut, it is an excellent enchantment right now. Instead, give us a NEW jungle enchantment for tanks that has SotAG's old % Bonus HP multiplier and some sort of sapping barbs equivalent.

Armor is something that would certainly help, but in a lot of cases it probably isn't the best way to buff it. The lack of armor and the health it has makes it a good pickup against comps that have either heavy AD, heavy AP, or a mix of both. However, adding armor would make it a less attractive buy against heavy AP comps. You would probably just ignore getting this item entirely against these kinds of comps just because its stats aren't worth it.

CoolKnightST1 votes

Even if the enemy is full AP. You will always need some armor in your build. Basic attacks even from full AP teams can hurt. Not to mention armor that is required to dive turrets. It would be more of a buff than a actualy nerf against these comps. Most tanks will pickup a item 3143 in the lategame against these comps in order to effectly dive their targets. With armor on this item the pickup of additional armor won't be a big deal anymore. This would give them the ability to increase their dive potentional or even make them more tanky in these situations.

LordOfTheLeague1 votes

No, you are not forced to buy it asap after you buy tier 2 jungle item, if you want armor you can buy it after it. Hp is much harder to get from itemization so I want to keep this hp item.

InbredFeeder1 votes

No armor please.... just more hp

Also give it a method of waveclear, tanks clear the jungle too slow AGAIN.

I thought Riot reworked SotAG to serve that purpose ??? Current Juggernaut Enchantment forces junglers to be gank intensive. Not many options there and it weakens tanks' overall power.
