So can someone explain to me why Soraka top is unacceptable but funneling lulu/taric isnt?

Hello. I want to preface this by saying i absolutely despise the funneling playstyle of "0 farm/lane interaction, just play safe and poke non-stop".

But this has been actively encouraged by Riot for years now. So why is Soraka top outrageous when Lulu, Taric and Leona have been allowed (and encouraged) to do this for several years already? How is this any different?

This really isn't a problem with Soraka, or any of the other supports being picked. It's a problem with the role itself, allowing them to play like this and still find success.

any time something becomes an outlier in the meta every one cries cuz its unexpected and people dont know or are slow to adapt to the change.

and funneling has been in the game ever since the bot lane meta was adopted. the support not taking cs/ poking enemy while funneling all gold to the adc.

Funneling actually did get some targeted nerfs with a partially-complete jungle item causing reduced gold gains from lane minions if you started taxing too much, so I wouldn't be surprised at more nerfs if that strategy is really making a comeback. As far as supports getting nerfed whenever they touch another lane, that's been the case for as long as I can remember. It's totally cool with Riot for non-supports to take the support role, though.

Because anything that isn’t a bruiser is unacceptable in top lane. That’s just how they see everything there.

Last time Soraka went solo top, she got a rework. Maybe we should call her upcoming emergency VGU: the second banana.

I personally like any new strat, including soraka top. Just wish this same logic was applied to bot lane so this game would actually have teamcomp variety and diversity for once.
