So, ... Doombots was, ...

Elite4Runner··5 votes·540 views

I have to give Riot some credit for coming up with something different, but ...

I honestly kind of feel like this version of Doombots was less fun.

It really felt to me like there was never any point where you could actually feel like you were "better" then the Doombots.

Instead you could only 'not die enough' to win.

I am sure that there were lots of people who genuinely enjoy that kind of game, but I felt a little bit of a let down from it.

So as a personal request to Riot, please try to not have the next round of Doombots be this way.

I guess what I'm saying is that I would like to see an updated version of the old Doombots instead of this incredibly one sided version of Nexus Siege.

It cut out 80% of the map, 90% of the champion roster, a substantial portion of the strategy and for me, 100% of the fun.

80% of the map? you mean 40%? 90% of the champion roster? How?

80% of the map?

I'm not sure that I would agree with the 80% figure, but it became difficult, impractical, or even impossible to even go into your own jungle at any point. The flaming bushes even cut down on your ability to use those. Even the part where the towers were electrified cut down on the map even more.

I'm not saying that I didn't like those features, I thought it was pretty funny actually, but I guess I can see the other person's point.

You still could have easily gone in the jungle nothing was stopping you, the flaming bushes only happened occasionally(if im right) and also they needed to be that way so you couldn't glitch out their AI (seriously, walking in and out of bushes in bot games is a busted strategy), the electrified towers made it interesting.

It was not practical to really spend any time in the jungle because duo-lane bots were too strong for any single player to hold their own against. And once that lane loses the first tower, they rotated which means that you HAD to go to that lane or it would fall right away as well.

Yes, you could try to jungle, but you better expect your team to rage at you for it.

And as I said before, I liked those features. I am just saying that you would only walk into that space if you wanted to take a shit ton of damage for no reason.

Could you jungle before? What changed that made it impossible or unpractical to jungle?

You could push objectives before, which means you could relieve pressure from lanes.

Marshbouy1 votes

that's what i was expecting. Riot intentionally removed that so you couldn't cheese out the game with splitpushing.

That is a legitimate way to counter pushing lanes.

It isn't fun to be forced to fight opponents that are significantly stronger than you, especially when they can still split push against you.

Half the map is immediately cut off, because you can't push past their mid towers, and it's usually pretty pointless to be in your jungle unless moving to other lane because of point #2:

The strategy to winning is obvious. Safe long ranged wave clear, spam it.

Actually just avoid killing the bots until they start gropuping is teh best strategy. Theyc an't but they don't get stronger, even if they kill you still can't kill the towers fast enough.

Also once the first tower fell singed could go behind enemy lanes and cheese the game even more. The doombts will most likely chase you .

I didn't like how it cut the viable roster as Troy said. It made the mode much less fun 'cause people would rage if you picked anything sub A-tier since it would become nigh impossible to win.

Marshbouy1 votes

How did it cut the roster? What was different about it?

Long range and AOE champions were generally the only champions that got picked.

Pretty much all melee champions were trash.

As I said before, jungle champions were useless.

Also there really was no late game, because it didn't last long enough, and you could never really get 'ahead'

Marshbouy1 votes

there wasn't any late game? What? People got full build by 20 min my games.

If u played a melee champion that isn't sion, you lost. Simple as that. They're simply not viable and they're impossible to win with Yes I said impossible.

Marshbouy1 votes

What changed that made it impossible to win as a melee.

You're arguing multiple points simultaneously.

The fact that melee champions were already difficult to play with old doombots means that cutting the roster down even more is more oppressive to players.

Marshbouy1 votes

I will ask this again. What changed that made melee impossible to win as.

BakedLotion1 votes

because the doom bots are much stronger and if u got into range you would die? Why are u asking all these dumb questions? I'm pretty sure u know why melees would suck You could pick anything in old doom bots and win. But now you're forced to play ranged +waveclear champions in order to stop the malzahar and udyr from destroying your entire base in a minute. There also wasn't a huge ass teemo that twoshots your turrets while 5 doombots are split pushing side lanes, which you need ranged champions to deal with because a melee champion would instantly die

Marshbouy1 votes

so you are literally complaining about the gamemode being to hard? nice.

wat. we're talking about melees. And disregarding the rest of my post because u decided to alter what I said? nice. Should probably just stop posting here because you're providing nothing.

"what changed that makes melees bad?" People are giving u multiple valid changes and reasons "lol so you're complaining they're hard"

LostFr0st1 votes

if you picked anything that wasn't super good you'd have a low chance of winning and you'd either a)not get into game because they'd dodge since you picked that champ or b) get raged at all game long for your pick.

Many melee champ just get blown up in the mode due to cc lock.

Marshbouy1 votes

I don't see how it's any different from old doom bots.

LostFr0st1 votes

I could play Udyr Jax Khazix Hecarim Malphite Nasus Singed (I can keep going) in old doom bots and still win; couldn't this time due to the above points. Maybe I don't want to play Velkoz Ziggs Zyra MissFortune Illaoi Galio every game...

Marshbouy1 votes

What changed? the ability to splitpush?

LostFr0st1 votes

Kinda; the ability to stall out and flank; to cut off the wave behind their tower. Also can't get the tower gold now just kill gold so if you can't immediately kill the bots (if you need survival items or scaling) then you wouldn't get the gold that you needed and you'll just get pushed in and lose.

Being ranged was pretty much mandatory for Doombots this year. You literally could not play a melee champion and expect to do well. Maybe if you had a team of 5, but I doubt it

i would just like to say i accidentally voted for the wrong one.. i thought when you said "updated" doom bots you meant the most recent one.. i like the old one better XD

I just wanted to bring a little attention back to this post. I am glad that I had so many people who agreed with me.

According to the poll there were 13 (+1 for SWIFTKITTEN88 who failed to read ((Jk <3 U)) ) who would like to see a return of old Doombots with some updates.

And 3 (-1 for SWIFTKITTEN88) who preferred the newer version

Unfortunately, this thread got a sum of +1 up/down votes.

I say Sum because I know at one point it was 0, so I'm guessing that someone just returned me back to +1

So that means it really didn't get much attention because the boards sees this +1 rating as a "meh" post.

Yes, I'm cheating a little bit by adding this comment to put it back to the top of the "Recent" list, but if you see this and you agree with it, please add to the Poll and add to the vote.

I love Doombots, and I think it would be great to give Riot our input on what we found to be less than sucessful with this last version for the next time they bring it back.

p.s. I heard a rumor that they may even be adding it to the rotation, .. so I really want to let them get some work in on it.
