What are your hidden op champion picks?

Nebuul··6 votes·3,164 views

What champions do you have that might at first look like troll picks, but they actually perform just as someone would expect a champion in that lane/role to do?

Syndra Jungle. She has ridiculous clear times and unmatched assassination potential. The only weakness I've found is some pretty high vulnerability during levels 1-2, but once she hits 3 and has both her slow and stun, beware!

Nasus Support. He has a great slow and an armor shred. Build him tanky and stick with your adc. You can get even build stacks on your Q to heal your adc. His main weaknesses are of course mobility and no stun. The nice thing about Nasus support, though, is that you can get dangrously strong growing your Q while being tanky and living on a support's salary.

My personal favorite is Orianna support. She dies a lot but you get a crap-ton of assists. Plus a speedup, slow, shield, and the most op ult in the game. GG WP

Garen Mid. I played it extensively during the assassin fotm of late S3 and I'm convinced he's the answer to the assassin meta. The short lane makes him very hard to gank thanks to his Q, he can bully with QE to heavily deny farm early, and if anyone ever tries to burst you down you've got W to say "screw you" or a nice silence right after they gapclose to leave them unable to follow up with a combo. They want to roam? Follow them! What are they going to do, hide in a bush and burst you down? Any time they leave shove the wave hard with a quick E then head after them like the obnoxious distributor of JUSTICE.

By the time late game rolls around it doesn't matter how hard you fall off because a 0 kills 0 CS assassin is ALWAYS worse. Obviously a purely counterpick-Garen would get stuffed by most mages-but a very strong one, kind of a Galio-esque pick.

I just learned about Teemo Jungle from this diamond 1 Teemo Jungle Main, you can solo dragon fairly easily very early if you're good with him (by lvl 6 I believe, by using your shrooms to juggle aggro or something). Tried it out in a bot game with mixed success, but I'm not a great jungler or Teemo player, so...

Sivir Top. She works so well as a toplane bruiser I often wonder why it's more common to see a Quinn or Vayne top than a Sivir. Frozen Mallet and Black Cleaver are both great items on her, the first of those giving her the ability to be the best 1v1 kiter in the game (between her passive, furor, and frozen mallet slow) and the second of which giving her a little more padding before she gets to teamfights. She's a safe pusher between her E and her Ult and she loves to straight up push lane all day the way an other toplane would. She might not be the tankiest toplaner, making her inadequate in a team composition with a squishy support and jungler, but with the current meta leading to a lot of tankier supports and a lot of the current junglers being bruiser carries, it's not hard to find a place for Sivir top to work.

Ashe Support. Obviously another 'situational' pick as she requires an AP mid or a bursty AP jungle to not hinder her team, but her passive works super well with supporting, that extra vision is always nice (and Quinn ADC + Ashe support just doesn't get ganked, between their vision abilities and the wards you just can't touch that), the ability to dedicate your whole teamfight to kiting via a talisman and your Q/W that global skillshot stun that gets 40% cdr as a support, no problem. On top of the fact that she will have more gold than any other support will. When her ADC backs, that extra gold from her E makes it pretty easy to go for a few luxury items on Support Ashe (mainly IE which isn't nexcessary as a support). The Zeke's herald synergy and her ability to transition into a late game carry if the team needs more right click damage to take towers, she's won me games on so many occasions. That last push late game where I end up selling my items and gaining as much AD as I can so that we can go seige the nexus. It always feels so good to know that being an AD based champion actually had its perk in the support role.

Not gonna go into much more but I really like Malphite Mage Malphite Syndra Support Syndra and Lissandra AP Bruiser Liss Top as well.

AD malzahar. Build him with a combo of ad, cool down reduction and manamune which will allow you to spam your spells like crazy. What people don't know is that voidlings scale off of AD and once you have enough mana and cool down to summon 2 voidlings, watch them chase down opponents and shred even the most tanky targets.

Full AP Venusaur1 votes

I thought thy took the ad scaling off his voidling because this build was becoming too much of a problem?

This is actually one of Riot's favorite off-builds, because it takes an absurd amount of skill to use properly, and does more or less the same sort of thing you expect from AP Malz. It's really weak early, because you can't spam spells without running oom, but once you get the core Manamune, CDR Captain boots, and brutalizer, champions and objectives will kneel before the might of Miggles (what I call my voidlings, credit to some youtuber I can't recall the name of)! No joke, even Tryndamere can't beat AD Malzahar's DPS.

Poppy Support You have by far the most damaging level 2, and as the game gets later and later, you can take on bigger and bigger threats. Late game you often end up trading your life for at least 75% hp off of one of their main carries and all of their carries' attention for 10-12 seconds. A Xerath/Kog'Maw combo is really scary unless they're both dealing with a Poppy, while your team wins the fights 4v3 and 4v"2". Of course, that's given the fact that you got few neutral objectives and mostly assists, otherwise we're talking about half their tea mdieing to you. I really feel like she's basically a playmaking Leona.

Poppy Jungle Did I mention I like Poppy? Jungle Poppy is pretty simple. You have the burst for mid kills and 100% stun rates on side lanes. You basically rely on being Poppy and dishing out insane damage without ever getting coutnered by that awkward top lane udyr or a god damn olaf pick. If the enemy is pushing in, your ganks are easy, if they're not, you aren't exactly unhappy to farm.

Veigar Support Farm that Q with targon, otherwise you simply deal hefty damage wit ha support thanks to those free APs and the Q and you have an insanely long AoE cage/stun. It's not uncommon to see Veigar come out of lane with 1k+ worth of APs on his Q (which is pretty cool when most supports have 1 completed item by that time).

And, last but not least, the one I'm currently trying out in Team Builder and getting extremely variable results (up to now, it'd be an excellent counter-pick).

Shaco Support I'm feeling slightly lost itemization wise, but overall he seems to offer non-negligible poke as well as some ludicrous counter-engage. You are fairly squishy and don't have as much damage as a solo lane/jungle shaco, but it's all made up by your innate which adds 20% damage to a lot of your pokes/trades. JitB allows for great vision control as well as counter engage (Leona for instance cannot ever dash on you or she'll be feared and receiving damage from JitB and you have the time to deceive on her ADC before the stun). I've had some really mitigated results against Ashe and ranged poke-heavy supports (Zilean/Lulu mostly), but I don't think I've lost a single lane to melee supports.

Personally, I play him AD, basing my playstyle mostly around getting towers (you can take the tower solo in 1 recall if you have your ulti) and counter-engages, as well as picking up carries late game (kind of guerilla warfare). I will often itemize into an early Sheen into Trinity for that in-lane trading (we're ralking about 240% base AD thanks to Backstab, and the normal attack also is enhanced by both pseudo-crit and backstab). Then, I just buy Hydra+Shiv to make my clone even more powerful as well as give me an extremely potent split pushing power (skipping on a front liner/carry to deal with the support makes for some easy 4v4)

Oh and did I mention 1-man dragon aggro juggling? You can literally kill dragon at level 6 without receiving a single hit if you've got f**king Challenger's mechanics (I usually receive mitigate damages by roughly 20%, with my clone tanking up another 30-40%).

Does AP/Hybrid Ezreal count? Everyone always questions my build in the early game, but when I end with 26/0/19, people start asking for my secret, lol.

I also like Bot Lane Carry Diana (Another AP/Hybrid build), and Support Vladimir.

Then there's also mid-lane Sivir. She works quite well as an AD caster, with amazing lane clear, and solid burst damage. Plus, it's that much harder to gank her when the towers are closer together.

BIG DUALLY1 votes

I like playing my Bioshock Bot lane.Annie Nautilus Annie as a AP Carry, and Nautilus there as support. I have never lost a bot lane playing these two together. xD The CC on these two is just crazy. It's even better if you have someone playing AD mid like zed or talon.

Wheatloaf1 votes

Malzahar, anywhere and everywhere. He's harder to play than he looks, especially if built AD, but a good Malz can be a higher threat level than a fed Kog'Maw.

Chogath Support. Knock-up, slow, and silence. All with the awesomeness of a tank. His ability to do so is conditional, I will say.

Gare Jordans1 votes

I personally like going Galio jungle. His ganks are decent pre-level six, due to his movement speed boost for teammates, and his slow to enemies. Makes way for either a blown flash, or quite a bit of damage done. His sustain is superb while clearing thanks to his shield as well. Once he hits level six, his ganks almost always guarantee a kill.

Prepare yourselves: Taric Jungle. Quill Coat into SotAG made him viable again (was viable when he scaled almost entirely off AP), build Spell Blade item of your choice for lulz.

But that's not all, I'm not the only one who's tried this. A plat friend of mine tried it out a few times building Gauntlet (I prefer Lich Bane) and stuck a Nidalee. NIDALEE COULD NOT ESCAPE JUNGLE TARIC.

What makes Jungle Taric OP in my opinion compared to other unusual jungles? He's a support. His late game scaling is unchanged if he jungles, and Taric with gold has always been at least decent. With a tank first and fourth item (spellblade and boots for 2 and 3) his teamfight is just charging in and laying waste to all within reach. Stun, two buffs, armor shred, and a surprisingly big heal make him a monster in a fight and tough to kill.

Main problem being that his clear before Quill Coat is slow as hell. He really needs QC before he can spam abilities and get them passive procs.

Personal build: item 3207 item 3100 item 3009 item 3065 item 3157 item 3068 , mostly in that order (go QC, Sheen, boots, THEN upgrade)

Mordekaiser anywhere huehuehuehuehue people seem to have forgotten him as of late but he still messes up assassins and the best part is that if they are running towards you its to late for them to run away My favorite thing to hear is an enemy akali, talon, fizz , whatever complain about not even doing damage when they engage and you jut huehuehue back at their cries of terror haha even zed struggles against him from my experience but I don't see many god tier zeds at my tier anywho morde is so out of circulation that most people consider him a troll pick but I have to have a pretty bad team to lose a game as The master of metal especially when I got the 10 hour loop of 6V4 on

AP jungle XinZhao - yeah you may have a little trouble early but come late game you can easily win any 2 vs 1 and come out of it with more health then you went in with

Build- item 3206 item 3006 item 3115 item 3100 item 3065 item 3091

At end game if you have enough gold trade wraith for rabbadon's

Urgot Puregot as a top lane bruiser!

Apart from having shitty base stats, with ArP runes (marks+quints), Black Cleaveritem 3071 , LW item 3035 and his E you shred tons armor from tanks and bruiser, damaging them (almost) as you're doing true damage. As long as you keep damaging the enemy champion, you take very little damage from him. E+QQQ combo for zoning will make your mana pool starve in the early minutes, until you get a tear. E is a slow skillshot that can be dodged fairly easy, so it's better to use it only when the enemy tries to all in you or while chasing. Maxing W after Q for a fairly damage mitigating shield useful for the mid game (and for kiting, of course). Most of his hidden power comes from the fact that enemies in lane feel overconfident over urgot and tend to trade often, resulting in kills for the fat (and cute <3 ) necrocyborg.

Theoretically, you can shred % a consistent 63% of enemy's armor (with masteries, a full stacked BC + E. Did I mentioned that every tick of your E makes the passive from BC proc? :V), without tanking into account the 29 flat armor reduction coming from runes and BC. If you feel cheesy, you can build a youmuu instead of one of the 2 defensive items (moar flat ArP!!1! Moar squishy urgot!1!!1)

Here are some example builds: item 3042 item 3071 item 3035 item 3111 item 3110 item 3102 item 3042 item 3071 item 3035 item 3158 item 3143 item 3102
