Why are there so many bots in ARAM?
I see at least one every game.

Hmm, this isn't something that I've run into in all my ARAM games recently and is something I honestly wasn't aware of til now. How can you guys tell that they're bots? Do they just sit in fountain and not move? Do they just run down the lane and die? The team th at'd look into this type of thing may already be aware, but being able to pass of info would be great!

well, In one of my ARAM games, Garen wasn't speaking to anyone and he took heal (it's just weird on garen. maybe he forgot to change?), didnt follow team and dived alone and didnt know basic combos.

ARAM seems to be popular enough, So I don't suspect you would run into them much if your MMR is high enough. I play ARAM all the time and I don't run into them either.
If there anything like the bots I see in my Coop VS AI games, they usually end up moving perhaps like the Coop bots, but even more incompetently. And end up with a Build that isn't really a viable build. (I think I've seen things like 4 mana crystals)

its super noticeable if you play with a lower level. if you play with someone without a keystone, you're bound to see it. 9/10 games i played had at least one bot per team. they literally dont even try, they go like 0/11 by running down mid and pathetically use abilities. sucks having assassins notice and target them
I encountered this a lot when leveling up. After hitting level 30 I've never noticed a very obvious bot, so I think it's an issue isolated strictly to leveling accounts to sell them. I ran into this constantly on TT pre-30 as well.
It's tough to describe exactly, but when you play a game with 9 bots, it's obvious and pretty comical. They do things that don't make sense, even for the worst of bronze players.
I once had a game with 9 bots that was so hilarious. It was like a weird game of tug o' war. If I ran at the enemy, my team would follow and the enemy would flee. As soon as I turned around the roles switched and my entire team would retreat and the enemy would become filled with courage and hunt us down... until I turned around and the roles reversed again. It felt like one of the ghost levels on Mario where if you turn around they freeze in place and can't advance.
If someone's MMR is too high they won't see them. They are typically encountered while leveling, and the red flags are walking around while not using abilities or building tanky on everyone (new players usually buy the recommended).
100% if you make a new acc and queue up for an ARAM you'll see at least 1 maybe 9 of them. You'll keep seeing them until your mmr gets pretty high. New players can't tell the difference so the only people who report them are people leveling smurfs that can see the nuances. I've made an alt acc to hunt them myself, as have others, but now the ARAM mmr is too high on that acc :(
Along with the above, they have chat extension too. Like the Rift bots encountered in coop vs. AI, they are usually either very cheery or ragey and say stuff in chat whenever they die like "LOL" "XD" "omg I died" or "wtf" to seem more realistic but they'll cycle through the exact same phrases and restart once they've used them all once. This is an attempt to masquerade as either a new player or a smurf respectively (cheer vs. rage).
I could go on for probably 10 minutes to describe their behaviour in-depth.
They seem to have a specific set of actions. Some being running down mid, usually camping by the farthest ally turret and standing still unless theres an enemy nearby. Then they run towards the enemy, pathetically throw out a few abilities, then proceed to just feed as theyve run into the middle of the other team. You can tell its just been pre-determined how the bot acts. They will just sit at a turret or inhib most of the game, and feed. All the other comments on this thread seem to be pretty accurate as well.

Its a few things that give it away. Many of the bots will start t1 boots 2 pots, and wont build anything else until they have 1 item completed (void staff is very common for AP users). They will only go forward if allied minions/teammates are pushing forward.
They are bad with their abilities in an obvious way. For example a bot poppy will never once actually use her ult, but will charge it up till it goes back on cooldown everytime it is up.
And the final thing is they have preset things they say in chat: Eg- "I can't use this hero" , "Ping too high" , etc, and will say them right after suiciding.
They rarely have keystones, (allowing you to often figure out who is a bot in the loading screen) and they often have strange rather non-sensical summoner names with no flavor or uniqueness, leading me to believe they are accounts being leveled up to be sold.

This has been going on for years. Back when I had a lot of trouble with bots when I first started playing (and had a very low MMR as a result), it was usually pretty easy to tell when they were bots because they were always playing champions who were free that week, always had ghost and heal, and tended to buy multiples of the same items rather than following a more logical build path. Quite often, the summoner name was some random name plus another word or two random names ("Brian Molly" for example). They tended to just run down the lane indifferent to enemy movements, would sometimes fire skillshots in random directions. Often, they would all run as a pack in exactly the same direction.
Here's a look at a game where I'm pretty sure I was the only human player: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v225/blackjack77/aram-9bots_zpspsdletid.png
I think everyone on my team was a bot in this game too: http://smg.photobucket.com/user/blackjack77/media/aram-4bots_zps3i5tn7wg.png.html
I haven't been getting matched with bots lately except when I have very new low level players in my party, so I can't comment on what patterns are recurring dead giveaways nowadays, but I do know it's still happening as much as ever.
http://imgur.com/a/poso1 thats how buddy...it was fun like 4weeks ago while i lvled up my acc but not anymore...i wrote over 30reports yesterday its really frustrating thing buddy*[zombie-brand-clap]* [zombie-brand-clap] [zombie-brand-clap]
Shut up and fix ranked instead of trying to bandaid the issue. The true issue is MMR and how you rank/matchmake. Pure win/loss and a hard reset every season is the only way to competitively do a ranking system. This will nearly eliminate the need for bot accounts.
so you are telling me that bots have higher mmr then me in diamond? cause i see them all the time on eune where im ranked diamond and getting around 23-25lp...somehow

some actually act like co-op easy bots, attacking you and when low running back, if they are running after an enemy and they go into a bush they stand in front of the bush for a couple of seconds then carry on again, surprisingly enough some bots say random things every now and then to convince others they are not bots, it's most obvious when literally every sentence is capitalized or when they say something irrelevant to the current situation, like you're all waiting for the minion wave and they say ''Good Job!''
then there's of course the obvious bot that just walks forward with a-move till they die and keep doing that.

sorry but i am calling bullshit on that dude....
If they are playing
and he isn't free that week, they might be a bot. Varus as well. When the enemy's Varus goes 27-5-8 and hits every poke while yours goes 8-7-3 and misses half of them, theirs might be a bot.
Actually a former scripter made a decent thread on how to spot them awhile back.
Because levelling accounts to 30 is fucking boring and pointless once you've done it the first time.
Riot forces you to make a new account and play ranked again to get a better ranking because of the broken MMR system. Go 10/0 in placements on a new account, high Gold/Plat. Go 10/0 on a previously ranked account, you are the same rank you were before. The reason you start a new account is to skirt the bullshit MMR grind from where you are ranked to where you now deserve to be ranked but are held back from shitty teammates.
That's... not a great attitude to have. The system could be better, but MMR does change. Making bot accounts is still on the player, blaming it on Riot is kind of ridiculous.
There are even more bots on 3v3. If Riot brought back IP gains for solo custom games, it would probably help. The influx of bots in co-op vs ai and normals started after they removed that feature.
I'm not so sure returning XP/IP gains to custom games would help. What reason would bot programmers have for redesigning the bots to work with custom games (again)? Unless there's something specifically driving bots out of PvP and Co-Op queues, they'd likely just remain there.
Eventually your MMR will rise to where you're not matched with the bots anymore, but having to wade through them (and having to deal with teams that are you and 4 bots) is a sort of rite of passage that all new players must undergo now.

That's just not true. I've been playing aram since it started and have a good mmr. But you have at least 2 bots on every game.
I assume it's because they moved on from dominion, since it was removed. Dominion was so horribly plagued with bots at the end of it's life. Regardless of mmr you would run into 1-3 bots per team.
I have noticed that all bots use the same icon and never uses masteries. They use this icon http://imgur.com/a/rKTJN
Cause riot does nothing about it...they just take our money and could give a crap less. If they did care they would at least say hey we are working on it....
Hi, I am keen player of ARAM and have playing almost daily for the last few months and been really enjoying it. However in the last week I have noticed that there is up to 2 or more bots on the teams; and this is very disheartening and affects gameplay regardless if I am on the team with bots or playing against a team with bots. Apart from us reporting...if there any other way that we can minimise bots and therefore improve gameplay on ARAM? I miss my games with not so many bots! Help please!
