Does Jinx overshadow Caitlyn?

Vladamphir··1 votes·1,059 views

I was just trying to pick a new shortlist of marksman mains, and I realized that everything that Caitlyn can do, jinx can do too, but kind of better. Caitlyn's unique mechanic's are Headshot, net (can be useful, but often feels underwhelming) and the lock on of her Ult (as much a con as it is a pro). I love caitlyn, she was my main for an entire season, but I feel like jinx just brings so much more power and still has the threatening range that caitlyn has?

Caitlyn is simply more reliable. More reliable harass, more reliable CC, more reliable ult. She also has a method of self-peel that is probably best in class.

Jinx simply has more damage to make up for her general lack of safety, and it's still skill-indexed enough that the "conversion" can't really be considered better or worse.

Comparatively, Caitlyn has a much better laning phase, and Jinx focuses mostly on being a hyper-carry.

This, IMO, is what separates them. They have some similar attributes (long range skillshot harass, some CC/peel abilities, high damage ult) but aside from reliability, its all about where they are strong.

Cait's longer range makes her more of a lane bully (and can shut down some champs like Vayne pretty hard early game). Where Jinx has a tougher time early on - shorter range unless she burns her mana, and having to ramp up her Q AS weakens her early trade skirmishes. However, late game Jinx has massive AoE damage on her rockets, very high DPS through her minigun, and very high siege/dive potential between her passive speed boost after taking a tower or sniping a low health enemy with her ult, letting her rush in to slaughter the rest of the team. Cait can still carry late game but she does so from a distance, relying on a strong frontline to let her pick apart the team.

Precisely put. I prefer Caitlyn over Jinx any day... but then again, it all depends on your play style. Caitlyn deals more early dmg, Jinx more late dmg than Caitlyn does.** Jinx is** also much better in teamfights, and does better in 1v1 situations as well. Jinx does not have as much range as Caitlyn, but makes up for it (well, in certain situations) with her stronger dmg. Like Sniper said, Caitlyn has a much easier and less stressful laning phase than as Jinx does. I'd say that Cait's W and E are also more effective and life-saving than Jinx's E, but like I said, it all depends on the situation, team composition, and more.

Overall, **they are both excellent** ADCs, and champions in general.
