Sunfire cape just does too much in its current iteration.
...How exactly?
It gives Armor, health, and a fairly negligible passive when it comes to fighting against champions.
That's it. That's 3 things.
Let's take something like Duskblade.
-
Gives damage.
-
Gives CDR.
-
Gives Armor Pen.
-
Gives a slow.
-
Removes the need to buy a sweeping lens.
How does Sunfire Cape "do too much in its current iteration" compared to something like Duskblade?
The impact it has on whether or not tanks are good is too high.
So your logic on an item being strong on a tanks, which are struggling right now, is to make the item worse?
The change I hope for means it still retains some of the tankiness aspect but doesn't grant you a pass to ignore a lot of damage while being able to dish it out as well.
What do you even mean?
You're making it sound like Sunfire Cape gives 70% damage reduction and deals 1000 damage every second.
Almost every single Bruiser takes Conqueror and build Black Cleaver first item. That 60 Armor is going to be pretty useless.
And the damage Sunfire Cape does is only really noticeable when you're standing in minions.
Have you ever killed someone with Sunfire Cape? I don't think so.
If someone wants to itemize armor first then the options are there. But there needs to be trade off for it. Weaker wave clear and dps is fair trade off imo.
Again, you're making it sound like it's dealing upwards of Lux ultimate amounts of damage.
The change also doesn't make the item anymore appealing to bruisers and very likely would push it away from them more. Its just health (regen?) and dps aura vs health and combat stats. Not something that is going to be more useful than the current bruiser favored items.
A lot of Bruisers build Titanic Hydra, which scales off of health.
If Sunfire Cape ends up getting 500-600 health to compensate for lack of Armor, on top of what you claim to be such an unfair passive, they're probably going to buy it.
