My solution to Jungle XP

My solution to Jungle XP

So the biggest challenge that I see in currently trying to balance jungle XP is not in the amount of XP given specifically, but rather that there is little agency for junglers to play a variant style. As it currently is, you have to be making successful ganks, leeching lane XP, farming your jungle and securing objectives just to remain relevant in the game.

Instead, my solution would be to allow junglers to choose what XP boost they get based on what color smite they take.

Red Smite: Kills and Assists on enemy champions give increased XP. (Ganking style) - Smite same as live.

Blue smite: Jungle camps give increased XP (Farming style) - Smite similar to live, but no damage to enemy champions and increased healing on camps.

Green smite: Objectives and Tower assists give increased XP (Objective style) Increased smite on neutral objectives and can be used on towers to deal physical damage.

Yellow Smite: Vision score gives increased XP (Vision style) Yellow smite provides a refreshing blue trinket that can only be placed nearby. (Blue trinket at yellow ward placement range). Also smiting an enemy champion provides true vision of them for 5 seconds.

This would allow the jungler themself to choose where they get their XP from and to cater their game to it and be rewarded accordingly. It would allow clear avenues of weakness for the enemy team to exploit while still providing ways to stay relevant for the jungler, no matter the map state.

I would also make it so that you can swap your smite color from the shop for a small cost (100-200g ish).

My fear of your smite option determining your exp, would be that everyone would just go bluesmite power farm junglers, because it would be insanely reliable compared to the rest.

You cant really contest a power farmers jungle, whereas you can contest getting killed, objectives, and vision.

Interesting idea. I'd be willing to try this system out if Riot decided to go for it.

No, you are erasing Evelynn and other immobile junglers by removing the slow from blue smite. Blue smite with nimbus cloak is essential to several junglers. In fact, the junglers who depend on blue smite are the ones who need the damage and slow the most while champs who take red smite often already do more than enough damage on their own.

And quite frankly the jungle item should upgrade like the support item to give wards throughout the game.

I mean you could do that or we could just reverse the change that killed off the majority of junglers which is the exp that was transferred to scuttles from both sides of the jungle and put that back where it belongs, they could also make krugs split speed based on their size so small dudes drop instantly.

that would be an Interesting change when it comes to gameplay, but when it comes to the current problem, i'd rather go with increasing gold/exp from jungle creeps and decreasing exp/gold from kills

Not a bad idea, I support this one.

i like this idea. My idea was to just attach a Relic shield proc to jungle items, and have it fall off when you reach Level 7.

That way laners arent being punished for you taking their exp/gold, and you arent getting put 2 levels behind because someone flashed your gank.

This would be a nerf to Rek'sai. I think it should do 1 point of true damage on all smites, as this would still allow people like Kayn and Rek'sai to use their ultimate abilities.

What if we left xp how it is but gave junglers more gold? So they would be behind in levels but ahead in items.
