League of Legends Match History

Ok so I want to write up what I have analysed from my last match, where we had a huge early game lead, only to lose it drastically as the game wore on. I've attached the match history so that you can see the stats, and any feedback on my analysis would be appreciated. If you have anything to add, please feel free.

Firstly I know that I'm bronze, but I'm trying to play smarter than what I currently do.

Analysis:

  1. Me playing Heimerdinger into Orianna is a bad matchup. I have never laned against an Orianna before and (being a bronze) I don't have a large champion pool that I am comfortable playing in ranked, let alone into a champion I've only seen the pros play. So I went with Heimerdinger who, along with Kayle, I am most comfortable with. From this experience I wouldn't pick the same matchup again, but I still feel that it was a better choice than trying a different champ that I don't know.

  2. They scaled better because of their itemisation. I look at their Alistar, Renekton and XinZhao and look at the items they chose were hugely important for them in the late game team fights. We just couldn't kill them in a 5v5. Compared to our team, we had little frontline. Our Nunu went AP which worked great in the early game for kills and ganks, but in the late game he was too squishy, he couldn't get in the middle of them for his ult. Also our Leona, who was in good positions and was generally supporting well, didn't buy any armour (until it was too late).

  3. Warding. Their Alistar placed 38 wards in the game. What this meant was that we couldn't rotate lanes safely once our outer turrets where destroyed.

  4. Between the 20-30 minute mark of the game we lost 2 dragons, 7 towers and had a lot of deaths, as opposed to us only taking 2 towers and getting a Baron (which left them open to take at least 2 of the turrets and get good map pressure. We didn't transition from Early game to mid game well. The 20 minute mark was when they had lost their three t1s, which (at my elo) means that you start to pressure as a group.

There is more that I could say having been in the game but I did get told by some of my teammates that "I shouldn't play Heimerdinger in ranked". I accept that this matchup was bad, but is Heimerdinger obsolete in bronze-elo ranked?

Thanks for any replies.

Oh yeah, I need to git gud.

You are basically right about everything you said, but long story short , there is no way your team can touch lucian in teamfights in the late game , with the champions you guys have picked. There is just very little catch or burst vs the very mobile lucian. This can be confirmed by his score and his penta kill.

It would be good if you could convince your team to play an assassin or a diver when your team lacks catch, lockdown, or burst. It's really important to keep the enemy ad carry in check lategame, otherwise they just melt your team.

Don't listen to anyone about your champs. If you are good with them and you know what you are doing , you will win. It's just that it's slightly advantageous to stick to the meta here and there. For example , mid range mages with lots of burst and Slows are very strong right now ; so you might wanna consider trying out malzahar, ryze, ori, Syndra or even cass if u got the skill.

These champions will melt the enemy ad carry the moment he gets in range with powerful undid gable lockdown and bursty abilities like malzahars ult, Syndra stun into ult, ryze snare combo etc

All in all u r in the right track, it's great that you try to find what you did wrong , and if you would have been able to carry your allies mistakes had you not made those mistakes. You will eventually climb, that is certain. It's just that you can make some changes and climb faster .
