i was going to make a thread about how nobody uses Wit's End

But then you revealed Tahm Kench who thanks to his R and Passive synergies really with Wit's End.

GJ Rito, prevented one less flaming today.

Seriously tho, even WW doesn't even get Wit's End anymore and its falling of the radar on Kayle's build unless there is tons of magic damage on the enemy team. Maybe since you changed the attack speed and the magic damage proc was the same as the attack speed (when the item had 42% attack speed) I think now the magic damage proc should be 50 cuz at this point 42 is a pretty random number (besides its connections to Heimerdinger)

increase the on-hit to 50 or an amount that scales with level so that it scales up to 50 (maybe 32+1xlvl), and increase the max shred/bonus MR to 30, either by increasing the stack cap or the shred per stack.

That would pretty much make it perfect imo.

He scales so well with flat hp that going for a resistance + attack speed item seems silly to me.

uh, wit's end is extremely good lol I see it frequently purchased by others, and it's a common purchase for me. It's a very cost effective damage + defense item.

the main problem about wits-end is that a part of its power-budged is in reducing the enemies MR. that may sound good, but the only attackspeed-reliant (or at least benefitted) AP champion in the game (aside from offbuilds like AP Warwick or so) is diana and she would always prefer nashors over wits end.

this means, the reduction to magic resist this item gives you now only benefits its own damage, which isnt very high. like, the only champion i ever buy it on is nocturne jungle. i go devourer, botrk and wits end (sometimes) which then adds up to a crazy amount of mixed on-hit damage and it also benefits my devourer too, but thats like "meh" and getting wits end over ANY other damage item (youmus, BT, Hydra, BC) is VERY situational and im not sure if worth.

i mean, we have an upgraded brutalizer, an upgraded sunfire, an upgraded wits end and a downgraded lichbane in the jungle, and the role that favored wits end the most was the jungle allready, so since you can get devourer, it renders wits end obsolete for many champions.

a really good thing for wits end would be to clarify its identity more. we have many strong attackspeed items in the game, but wits end is too hybrid to benefit anyone. if you are an ability-user, you dont need the attackspeed and if you are an auto-attacker without magic damage, you dont need the MR reduction.

what i would like to see, IF anything at all, then it would be to amplify wits ends role as a MR-reducer, for example, it should steal your champion level in magic resist per hit, up to 3 times for 5 seconds (meaning on lvl 18 you can steal 54 MR). also, its magic damage is basically lower than that of nashors tooth, and nashors scales with something. i think wits end should also scale, and it should be like 35 base + 40%% of your bonus mr. now that sounds alot, but magic resistance is expensive and you would never really want to have more than 200 anyways, and that means you allready are somewhat full build and high level and invested quite alot into it.

so, its final stats would be:

50% attackspeed

unique passive: (35+40%bonusMR) magic damage on hit

unique passive: basic attacks steal (champion-level*1) magic resistance from the target. this effect stacks up to 3 times and lasts for 5 seconds.

as you can see, i removed the flat magic resistance but increased its potential on-hit damage as well as its stealing effect to make up for it. the item now is more an offensive item for auto attacking magic damage dealers with a defensive portion added to it instead of being an offense/defense hybrid.

I like to get Wit's End against AP tanks like Singed when I'm playing someone like Fiora .

I'm not big on building attack speed on her since I have little use for it, so I don't get it too often. I agree that it's one of those items that has a bit of an identity crisis, and is very situational.

http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/6XIsHyBz-wits-end-buff-idea From post:

So give the wearer plus 5 mr and 5 magic pen per surrounding enemy champions. the current passive picks up from there.

Maybe it could have active that gives wearer upfront magic pen that won't stack with the magic resist you steal. That way its like starting on third stack. Lasts like 5 seconds enough for 1 rotation of spells. Say I'm shen I'd like to activate wits end get 15 mpen and taunt kistrike q. Currently by the time I auto someone enough times I might be able to q them if they aren't already out of reach... I feel like the magic pen it gives doesn't come into effect Most of the time. You'd also need to be extremely tanky just to survive long enough to auto people enough. Granted he does have that going for him. But other champions like Kayle, teemo, udyr, diana, may just want a bit of mr and as but don't have that much time to sit there and auto attack. Also often have to switch targets etc. Teemo works better though since he has a dot.

Attack speed, on hit Braum loves Wit's End. Volibear likes it as well.

Warwick should still build it as often as possible. Doubling the damage of his ultimate, if not more, isn't anything to sneeze at.

The issue with Wit's is two-fold.

  1. It has no other items that synergize well with it (Nashor's wants MOAR AP. Shiv wants AD/Crit). If there were other defensive/IAS/magic OnHit items you could buy along with it, then it would be significantly better.

  2. It doesn't scale at all. This could be alleviated by adding an Ar/IAS and HP/IAS item into the game, or by making Wit's damage scale in some capacity. Shred scales off a percentage of your MR? Magic damage scales off a percentage of your max HP?

If we aren't going to add any new defensive OnHit items, I think the best bet would be a build-path remake.

Base Wit's End builds out of Dagger and Null, grants a small amount of magic damage OnHit and steals a little bit of MR. Advanced Wit's builds out of base Wit's, Recurve, and Giant's Belt. Magic damage has a base and scales additionally off your bonus HP. MR shred scales off your bonus MR. This would make it a heavy investment Bruiser item which can scale into late game and wreck fools.

Done and done
