The Art of League, still relevant?

I recently stumbled across Gbay's "Art of League" series again and it refreshed some key principles that I've drifted away from over the years since I first watched it. I did feel like some of the points he made are less applicable in the more modern League, and I was wondering if anyone else felt the same way, and if so why? If not, why not?

Personally, I feel like the pace of the game has increased to a point where careful planning and "playing to not lose" as Gbay puts it, are punished rather than rewarded. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I'm not sure.
