So, the enemy Jungler is "literally" sitting in your top lane brush camping you all game...

DOUBLE TAPPED E··58 votes·5,934 views

And you say it's your idiot jungler's fault for not coming to help?

Let's do something we don't normally do, and think for a moment. The negatives of this situation are obvious:

  1. You are forced back to tower, let's hope you've practiced farming under turret!
  2. If you leave lane without TP, you risk losing tower.
  3. Uh....

But what about the positives? Let's explore:

  1. The enemy jungle and top lane are splitting a lot of XP, so they will both be behind in levels at some point.
  2. The enemy jungler is not farming as much as they should, and their jungle is left unguarded.
  3. Your other lanes don't have any pressure on them from the jungle, so they can focus on winning their lanes and nothing else.
  4. Your jungler is free to gank without worry of counterganking.
  5. Free dragon!

So basically, the enemy jungler, when they do this, is handing you a free win, and all you have to do is play like a bitch.

But you can't play like a bitch, can you? That's not what an alpha male does, is it? Nah you gotta put that pussy enemy top laner in his place for needing jungle help all game, so you take a 1v2 in the middle of a huge enemy minion wave, not twice, but three times, the whole time spam pinging your jungler and screaming about how he's not helping you blah blah blah.

Seriously, play like a bitch, waste as much of their time as you can without giving up a kill, and enjoy your free win.

That'd be great if my jungle didn't spend the whole time pathing through only their jungle, not applying pressure to the other lanes, and not grabbing drag. I know it opens up a lot of positive options for our team (or more specifically, our jungler), but they have to actually take advantage of those options.

I don't top lane often, but when I do (or I see this happening to our top laner), I don't complain about the camp but I will/do complain about the lack of pressure which tends to be more infuriating to me.

I'm just playing devil's advocate though, pointing out how it's not always happy sunshine time if this happens.

If you notice this and your jungle doesn't, then you can type something like

"Hey, their jungle's been sitting top lane for half a minute", followed with something like "drag's free" or "free invade" depending on circumstance.

Serika Zero20 votes

chances are, if your jungler doesn't notice this: he (or she) doesn't know how to take advantage of this situation will interpret your comments are flaming or toxic will proceed to either mute you or flame the living shit out of you for being 0/2 already or something like that bonus points, your team mates will join the flaming parade

you lose the game and tilt, so, you can't really play more games today. or, you keep your mought shut you mute everyone and everything /fullmute all and proceed to feed and 1v1 fight (or 1v2 fight) to your hearth's content because your team is to bad to take advantage of the situation, there's no point for you to suffer for their sake. Go grab a snack or a soda during the game and enjoy

General Esdeath 12 votes

Can confirm, had people so many times in mid silver who would take "dragon is free" as flame.

Slythion6 votes

this even happens at mid-high plat, it's not even a silver/bronze problem unfortunately

toplaner : "Hey, their jungle's been sitting top lane for half a minute"

your jungler : "so ?"

or "then farm under your turret" and keep on keeping on

Poppy: "Enemy jungler camping top, drag free" Khazix: "STFU" Khazix: /all "Report Poppy toxic" Caitlyn: "Yea Poppy calm your bitch ass" Enemy team has defeated the Rift Herald! Shyvana has captured the Rift Herald! Shyvana summoned the Rift Herald! Enemy team has destroyed the first turret (12:17) Azir: /all "gg top fed" Sona: /all "report poppy"

Fun stuff.

Top is basically the new support. You are the teams tp bitch and expected to be magically perfect regardless of the situation, while also being a split pushing engage slave with high damage, while also tanking for the front line and peeling for the back, and getting the items no one else wants like Banner of Command.

woodvsmurph2 votes

And doing it all while 1v2 or 1v3 - if the fed enemy midlaner decides to roam top every time they shove in.

But it's ok. All you have to do to avoid dying is ward right? When you get chunked for half your hp by a jungler you didn't feed for going to ward your tri-brush or river brush... only to have their jungler place control ward or sweeper and clear it. And their toplaner uses another control ward so you basically can't leave your tower and must assume that - like the past 8 min of the game (from 2:50 mark) the enemy jungler is either in toplane or just a jungle camp away from toplane.

Xonra4 votes

Pointing it out doesn't mean they are going to suddenly do something. Plus it's like saying "Hey, I realize they picked this champ, and x hard counters it". Knowing the right thing, and knowing how to DO the right thing aren't one in the same.

Most people "know" what to do, they just have no clue how to do it. My jungler knows he should be ganking, but he will just walk into lane half assed and try to force a dive and have no idea why it failed.

woodvsmurph2 votes

That feeling when you ping the river is warded, and your jungler could walk through lane to gank - using the unwarded lane brush... but walks through river and sees the enemy walk away. They either flash and dash to catch the enemy only to have them get away without having to even flash, or they just walk away. Or when you could tower dive with a giant minion wave in like 4 sec, but your jungler decides to not wait 4 sec for easy 2v1 dive, but instead flash engages 1v1 while tanking free tower shots and dies. Stupid toplaner doesn't follow up. Right... let me just cross half a lane in 1.5 sec, blow my flash, and get within 2 aa's from dead so we can tower dive and kill the guy 4 sec sooner. That way when the camping enemy toplaner - who's left lane for a whole 20 sec for the first time all game - comes back, he can 1v2 kills us both. Or... you could do things my way, and we'll be high enough hp he can't 1v2 us even under his tower... meaning we either zone him away and take tower after killing his toplaner or we kill them both and take tower. Now, which option are you going to ta... option 1. Dammit.

Hügö4 votes

And even when he does only farm his jungle he gets more and more ahead.

Slythion5 votes

maybe in the small picture when only comparing the 2 junglers, but at the same time your top is being put behind which will balance it out when looking at the team as a whole. As someone else pointed out, "just farm under tower" is quite a poor argument because a decent laner will freeze on you. Top is being denied waves upon waves of gold, as well as experience if they're especially unlucky.

This is assuming that mid and bot are both going even. If even one of those lanes are behind while the other is even then the enemy jungle has therefor been more productive on a team-wide outlook because you as a jungler have been completely neutral and unhelpful.

Hügö3 votes

So when you say a decent laner will freeze then why argue that your jungler will do nothing? A decent jungler will farm and pressure somewhere else while a good jungler will farm counter jungle and pressure somewhere. Seeing it your way is so one dimensional.

Slythion3 votes

Because freezing a lane is a much more common/generic/vital skill for all laners than abusing the whole jungle and maximizing path efficiency is for junglers.

I have personally encountered this situation much more frequently than I'd like, plus I've already stated that I'm playing devil's advocate by showing that your ideal scenario is not gonna happen all the time unless your jungler is diamond 4 or higher.

Hügö1 votes

Sure it won't happen all the time even in my high plat/low dia games it isn't happening all the time. But to say that alle the laners will freeze while your jungler does nothing is completly wrong. I see bad laners that run into the lane without a brain as often as junglers that do nothing when I'm not jungling myself.

Slythion2 votes

But to say that alle the laners will freeze while your jungler does nothing is completly wrong.

I could've misspoke (mistyped?), and I'm sorry if I did, but when did I ever say this?

Hügö1 votes

Like there "because you as a jungler have been completely neutral and unhelpful."

Slythion2 votes

Because if you haven't pressured anywhere then you haven't been helpful. You have been, as I said, neutral and unhelpful. Is that wrong?

You added the "all the laners will freeze" part on your own I believe

Xonra3 votes

This is usually my junglers. 0/0/0 at 11 minutes, enemy jungler is ganking every lane, and still somehow near double in cs.

Tychusfindlay91829 votes

"let's hope you've practices farming under turret"

Awful thinking, what if the enemy laner has a freeze on you?

Dominant laners with camping junglers tend to have absolute manipulative powers for the wave. They can reset almost at will if they end up slow shoving, and, if they force you to back at all they can actually set you up to slow push and then establish basically a permanent freeze that just completely cripples your ability to contribute to the game. Yeah you can argue "well hurr durr the enemy jungler is wasting a lot of time"

Brother please, it only takes the junglers a couple minutes to clear the important camps and then they have all the time in the world until those camps respawn.

Serika Zero10 votes

set a sloooow pushing wave, and then dive the sucker!!! then his team goes: why we losing team fights? maybe because your jungler was such a bitch, your top laner now has less exp and gold than the support

Cashfinger21 votes

Yeah this is how top laners play now. They don't trade at all. They don't push the wave. They do nothing all game. Then bot and mid come top and decide the game while you go kill minions in bot lane. Then the game ends. It's lovely.

Xonra4 votes

Top laners are the new supports. People want you out of the way until they want you to help. Don't take their cs or kills, but use your tp to come start the fights for them and peel for all 4 members including the support.

Don't dare split push, cause 90% of people will just expect you to tp even on cooldown as they engage 4v5 and it will of course be all your fault.

Frontline Fury18 votes

It sounds pretty in theory, doesnt it?

Thing is, your opponent can freeze the lane forever. And so what if the enemy jungle is unguarded, drake is free and your lanes dont have to worry about jungler presence?

Your kha’zix is not going to leave his jungle for another 15 minutes. Bot and mid lane is losing their lanes without any jungler interference whatsoever.

Whatever level advantage you can scratch out is nullified by the enemy top laner being 1 and a half item ahead in their item build.

This is soloQ, friend. There’s no such thing as a team. If you dont carry, nobody else will.

Salson18 votes

The problem here is that I didn't install this game and devoted 20-50 minutes of my time to 'take it for the team' and be their bitch.

Sure it's fine doing it occasionally, but when it starts happening every bloody game, it gets annoying.

Before S7 in was perfectly possible to turn a gank around, and that's what we want back.

Xonra5 votes

Sadly that is what playing top lane is these days.

It used to be supports, then junglers, then supports again. Now it is top laners.

You are the guy who just happens to be there to fill out the 5th member and no one, including the jungler will usually give two craps about you on the map. You are out of sight out of mind, yet you should also be the team's bitch. It's all about bot and dragons these days, so top lane really isn't that important until after laning phase.

flibitydoo16 votes

except you failed to take into account the part where your jungler is an idiot and has no concept of map pressure and is also playing like a bitch and are being outfarmed by the enemy jungler despite never going near a lane.

Vayne2Master12 votes

Once you get past gold elo you'll understand there's something called diving which you cannot avoid 1v2 unless you go all the way to your 2nd tier tower and be denied over 10 waves of cs and when your top laner is behind on 50 cs and 3 levels do not say play safe. This is the same for bot lane and to an extent, mid lane.

Xonra4 votes

I've seen people tower diving all the same in bronze. This "Above gold elo" is false. Not always working, but I've seen silly turn arounds on tower diving in pro. It don't matter the elo for people to tower dive you.

OP Garen Support12 votes

In reality this happens: the enemy freeze lane, your jungler is afk farming his own jungle, meanwhile your botlane and mid is feeding.

redniwediS11 votes

This thread tilted me something hard just by reading it. I'm a top lane main, and every time I try to play another role I get someone who fills all the bad check marks in your thread here. Stop complaining and play like a real top laner! Back in my day I had to win lane 2v1 while my jungler farmed until level 18, and I didn't complain.

Xonra6 votes

Back in what day? Until like season 5 or 6 Top lane was an island (unless you were named Dyrus and played for TSM). Also "Back in the day" you didn't get easy mode tower dove at level 3.

FOR JUSTICE10 votes

its funny because is a lot more alpha male then people would think. if you got the jungler to camp you, your seen as a threat, so you must be doing something right

the enemy toplaner cant 1v1 you, so he asked his prissy self for some help

Sun Wu Ryuumoku7 votes

your seen as a threat

or like a snack

Xonra3 votes

Or it's just a premade.

I've had jungler camp me and do nothing but get me kills and nothing positive comes out of it for them.

lolipopevelynn9 votes

Ur being biased. There is nothing worse than a jgler that just afk farms and creates ZERO pressure around the map. Zero drags zero ganks. Zero obj control. Literally playing stardew valley league edition. Those types of platers have no business playing jg. If u are one of those players then please stop jgling. As a jg main if im not creating pressure then i am failing pretty hard with the roles primary purpose

Wînter Fox9 votes

I actually 100% agree OP.

While I sit and hump my turret, forfeiting any sort of carry potential, it's completely up to the rest of my team now to capitalize on all these advantages and to carry us to victory.

Let me repeat that - it's completely up to the rest of my team to carry us to victory.

One more time - it's completely up to the team to carry

And there's nothing better than playing a solo lane in Ranked and having to let your team completely dictate whether you win or lose

DOUBLE TAPPED E1 votes

Sad but true. Someone has to carry pretty much every game, the issue people seem to have a problem with is that it isn't always going to be them.

MuffledGarbage3 votes

So explain how a toplane main is supposed to consistently climb soloQueue when they have to rely on matchmaking RNG to climb if this jungler camp situation happens...

How is that even remotely fair?

Any other lane could be camped and they wouldn't fall behind as much as toplane...

Xonra6 votes

No I think the problem people have is when you have no option for it to be you. Then it becomes frustrating, cause you lose all control of the game and give it up to strangers, not because "sometimes I can't be the carry, so facilitate them", it is "my team made no effort to relieve pressure at all, so I sit here on my hands hoping someone actually does something now".

Big difference.

Warlord Dienekes7 votes

I can play like a bitch. I just don't want to. It's boring. That's always been the biggest problem with it. Not that it can't be worked around, it's that the optimal way to play is the most boring way to play.

This is a game, I play during my limited free time. Why would I keep playing it if I'm bored?

notmebuthim7 votes

Except they camp top because mid and bot are winning so hard they would have to tower dive to gank them...

MuffledGarbage5 votes

You said that toplaners basically can't win their own lane if they are camped by the enemy jungler...

You also said that toplaners have to rely on their jungler to win the game, basically

So in other words, jungle is still a 200% more fun/easier role to play than toplane right now...

good to know Riot is clearly working on this kappa

Oxyrotten3 votes

If I am countered in lane I usually tell my jg to forget about toplane, don't even bother coming top. I am used to being hard countered so I can play from behind. Better to focus another lane, push for a fb tower and secure dragons. If their jg comes top I still play safely even if I am losing cs/exp I can find ways to make it up, better to hold the tower against fb while they waste their time.

Xonra5 votes

Most junglers are like 3 week old puppies. They aren't going to listen to much of what you tell them.

"Don't gank top, I don't have good gank assistance, and you can get other lanes ahead".

Here comes my jungler at level 2 while I'm pushed in and dies to my enemy laner as he chases them well out of where I can even catch up to help.

Sun Wu Ryuumoku3 votes

The enemy jungler is not farming as much as they should, and their jungle is left unguarded.

so u pray for having a good jungler... for him to punish ennemy jungler (even at plat won't see any punishement).

Your other lanes don't have any pressure on them from the jungle, so they can focus on winning their lanes and nothing else.

winning ??? winning what ?? u mean they can focus on losing their straight dual.

Your jungler is free to gank without worry of counterganking. Free dragon!

Assuming junglers is good enough, assuming mid and bot can pressure...

But you can't play like a bitch, can you? That's not what an alpha male does, is it? Nah you gotta put that pussy enemy top laner in his place for needing jungle help all game, so you take a 1v2 in the middle of a huge enemy minion wave, not twice, but three times, the whole time spam pinging your jungler and screaming about how he's not helping you blah blah blah.

from my pov. Im in 1v2 lane, i play like a b... as i can. My mid get destroyed in 1v1, jungler f*p in his jng and bot is, as usual in 0/8 and create an unkillable bps machine deus ex shielded.

What u wrote would be true for real teams.

DOUBLE TAPPED E1 votes

You only focus on the negatives, that's why you have this mindset. I main jungle and top, and I've been carried plenty of times, I've also lost plenty of games where I thought I would carry. If you have higher than a 50% winrate, you're doing well, and with a 51% winrate, you are losing 49 out of every 100 games.

Xonra4 votes

There is a difference between "negatives" and realism. You are talking ONLY about the most optimal outcome. Your focus rarely happens in games to be quite honest, which is realistic, not negative. It sucks, but that doesn't make it false or "focusing on the negative". It is just....well a fact
