What was the reason behind keeping Ryze's R?

I want a clear and concise reason behind why the team teleport is being kept the exact same and buffed.

You wanted to close the gap between the Solo Queue weakness and the Pro Play strength. Yet, you went the complete opposite way.

The only people who can use the team teleport are people who are on comms together. Who have practiced it a bunch.

Somehow you think that buffing the R is going to magically make his Solo queue win rate go up and his pro presense go down?

His ulti is the reason he is in the predicament in the first place. I don't know how you got to the conclusion that, keeping his ulti was somehow going to be good for him.

It just feels awful now to play him on the PBE. He is a worse kayle. Kayle as least can heal herself and make it so that she doesn't die instantly, while still offering the same benefits to a team that a solo ryze would.

I give up with this decision making. Its completely backwards, with no explanation as to why it is being kept.

champions with utility R's tend to have broken basic abilities to compensate and those champions tend to be stupid strong (see sylas/tahm/reksai (before especially, her ult is just icing now).

it just leaves little room for moments of weakness.

Sylas's R is everything from damage to utility, in his case there's no reason to have such a good base kit when he steals the best part of his opponents kit.

Didn't they make it so you now need a team mate for his ult to work? From that it doesn't really seem like they care about solo queue even in the slightest.

Disagree with the statement.

Ryze being busted on pro play happens for more reasons than his ultimate, his easy gank set up, his ultra scaling build with mana that makes him be soo tanky while being a dps machine also matter and of course his ultimate but it's not only his R

However I acknowledge that his ultimate is indeed one of the reasons that make the gab between soloQ and pro play Ryze that huge and keeping it is a mistake that they will regret and they regret not getting ride of Shurima Shuffle when they reworked Azir since he presented exactly the same problems after the small rework he had so they had to gut him again

His W has been just about fixed eons ago with the more recent reworks where his W only roots for a fraction of second, while the empowered version requires him to sacrifice his DPS combo entirely to exchange for it.

Ever since then, his primary problem has always been exclusively his multiple-dipping scaling where he scales off BOTH AP and mana while the 2 also SCALE OFF EACH OTHER, and ofc, together with his R that creates a rift between pro play and solo play, thus introducing an neverending balance nightmare.

His current rework should have gone exclusively targeting those elements. I am not sure why Riot still fails to locate the issues in Ryze despite preparing for his newest rework for so long. You'd think after so many reworks with Ryze, slowly approaching god damn 10, Riot would get some clear perspective on what went wrong with Ryze; but I guess not?

Realm warp was (in my opinion) the worst change ever given to Ryze. Riot KNOWS teleportation ultimates don't work well in solo queue and are too strong in pro play. Riot's poor balancing of Shen over the years, reworking of RekSai's ultimate, and rebalancing of Galio and TahmKench ultimates over the last couple of years shows they're at least aware of the discrepancy in power in these abilities.

These ultimates take up too much of the power budget for balancing a champion around pro play.
