Weird, its almost like you deleted Team Builder, Dominion, solo/duo queue and other selected play-lists options to choose from, which forces people into two options: ranked or a carbon copy of ranked.

that round table discussion was such bullshit. i loved that "ranked games are less toxic now" shit too. of course they are!! premades are in skype and don't even bother communicating with us at all.
you'd think that people getting paid as much as these guys would understand that correlation /=/ causation. have you considered that people are playing ranked more now because they're guaranteed one of 2 roles? or that it's much easier to climb now because of promo helpers in low elo? or that, i don't know, a lot of the people enjoying dynamic queue only like it because they're bad and being dynamic boosted?
like, fuck, even people like scarra who flat out say "dynamic queue fucking sucks it's awful" are still playing it. what other options do we have? there's no competitive game mode anymore.
Making ranked the default option when you click "Play" likely had a large impact as well.
If literally every single dominion player moved to playing only ranked games, no one would notice.
More people playing ranked doesn't mean more people are enjoying it, or even necessarily playing it as a primary game mode.
It just means that more people are willing to try it since its going to feel like normals playing with friends.
It's a shame that we didn't instead try to find ways to increase average player skill and comfort, and see ranked numbers increase as people become better at playing and more comfortable.
If you have to destroy the ladder to get more people to participate, you're doing something wrong
when i heard "more peoples are playing ranked than before" from our lovely main DynamicQ dev RiotLobster i tought he meant "less peoples than ever enjoying ranked games now but still playing ranked because there are nothing esle with a ladder on it"
I honestly don't see a correlation, the removal of team builder or dominion would "force" people to play blind or draft, more people play ranked because they now can play with 3 or 4 friends instead of only 5 or 2
I don't know if decreasing ranked quality and making the rankings ambiguous is really much of a win. Most of those additional players would have just played normals instead.
Let's not forget that twisted treeline is almost unplayable since it got infested with bots after the dominion removal.
lol that's funny that you assume this since those game modes got deleted because of lack of support from the community; nobody played them.
I started playing in season 5, and I hated ranked for one reason: There was a good chance I would get stuck in a role that I can't play very well. I literally finished my placements (Bronze II) and never played ranked again.
This season, however, I am assured that I will get one of my primary roles, so ranked is more fun and the barrier to entry is lower.
