Cassiopeia build question...

Why's it considered strange that I build Luden's on Cass? None of the builds have it and people give me crap about it all the time. The % speed compliments her passive and works really well with her play style...

Because there is no situation where cass would want ludens over any other item in her full build. You only buy luden's to be able to one shot backline or for extra burst, neither of which benefit cass

Ludens also has the strengths of being a DPS enhancer, and Cassiopeia spellspam based kit means the proc will be up a lot more often tho.

My main reason for buying the item is simply because it helps with kiting and provides a bit more of aoe, and cass is REALLY good at kiting. Idk im still going to keep buying it but maybe one day I'll see why i'm apparently "doing it wrong."

It's not that Luden is bad, it's that all other items are better than Luden for Cassio. I'm not a Cassio player myself, but looking at the stats on op.gg/league of graphs:

Morello is a good rush item due to a nice mix of various stats that you all like.
Seraph is a must buy with such a spammy caster as Cass who can stack it very easily.
Rylai is just as good as Luden for kiting but ALSO provides survivability that Cass needs due to medium-low range.
Banshee and/or Zhonya have very strong passives that are more attractive than Luden's.
Void Staff and/or Rabaddon provide much more damage than Luden in late game.
Liandry synergizes very well with Rylai.

That's already more than 6 items. Luden isn't bad, but you can use all those items even better.

luden's does very little to improve dps, the point of the proc is to increase burst damage.

Because it offers no cdr, no magic pen, no defensive stats, and is not designed for sustain.

Seraph's Embrace, and Liandry's are both far better for a sustain damage caster. Rabadon's is better for raw ability power. Void staff is far better for magic pen. Rod of Ages gives everything Cass needs as far as mana, hp, mana regen, and raw AP. Morello's is also better for the grievous wounds and cdr.

Champs like ahri or old kat, who can do aoe to multiple targets at once.

cass has none of that. the ludens passive would rarely come up because she's immobile, and even when you stack up that passive, it'd literally be useless because your E would only bounce to like one other champion.

It's literally one of the most useless items on cassiopeia.

I'm pretty sure you've never tried building it on her because I can proc ludens on her every 3-5 seconds. Why? Because her E has an extremely short cooldown and her q is on a 3 second cooldown. Simply, put her short cooldowns make building up the charges easy to keep consistent. Not to meantion it builds off of MS and Kiting is her thing. I dont see your point.

oops, forgot about that E. well yeah, she could easily charge up luden's passive. but theres no point in charging it up because itll only bounce off to like 1 enemy. ludens altogether is an ugly item on most mid laners

If it works for you, keep building it. I would only question it if you run into issues personally with it.

I used to build ludens on her but it was before I started running stormraiders on her.

Luden's isn't a bad item on cassiopeia. Its just that alot of people think there are better items. The splash and the movement boost is nice but between rylais and stormraiders you already have a terrifying kite. In some sense her spell procced kiting goes miles further with alot less invested. Overall ludens also loses points for not providing any cdr, defensive stats, etc and being a fairly expensive item to begin with.

If you find yourself preferring luden's though there is nothing wrong with that. I would highly suggest opting to build a rylais before you build ludens however since it should provide faster gains in your kiting with the added bonus of some defense (assuming your priority is to rush a strong kite).

Hey heyy, I really like Ludens on cass, it gives her pretty nice damage boost plus that movement speed. I have been recently building my cass Ludens in combination with MS Quintesences and i have been doing great and it is really fun! the chase potential is amazing, if you hit a Q and they dash away, no problem, you will get them in a second with that MS. I really enjoy it and its been giving me really nice results.
