tank dmg

For awhile now tanks have been doing a lot of dmg, why is this? A full tank champion should not be at the top on the dmg at the end of the game. Tanks are supposed to be a shield, a peeler for the dmg dealers, not the carry themselves. It kind of makes "teamplay" trivial imo. any thoughts on this topic?

All champions have base damage and resistances/health.

Tanks build a lot of defensive items to improve their ability to survive damage.

Damage-dealers build many offensive items to improve their ability to deal damage.

Why do you expect to be able to survive against a tank's damage without any defensive items? While they haven't built much in the way of offense, you haven't built much in the way of defense either.

The only reason tanks appear to deal similar damage as damage-dealers is because:

  • damage-dealers typically have to damage the tank, who takes reduced damage
  • tanks typically damage enemy damage-dealers, who have little defense

If you've ever watched two tanks try and kill each other (especially if they have some form of sustain), you would know that their actual damage is quite low in comparison to damage-dealers.

Tanks typically have high base damage in the early game, but if they have the highest damage at the end of the game then someone is doing something wrong.

How dare you complain about the very balanced tank meta! you will be punished with Bronze downvotes!

Tanks actually deal very low damage to anyone that builds defense.

That's why teams of 3 tanks, 1 assassin and 1 ADC get rekt by bruisers if their ADC goes down because now there's no sustained damage to kill off the bruisers, who themselves deal huge sustained damage.

I don't know what games you have been playing but I'm always second or first in damage behind another or ahead of another damage dealer. The tanks are always just above support in damage.

It depends. I was able to pull a ton of damage in one Tank Wukong game because:

  • Wukong is a dive tank anyway; his role on the team if he builds tanky is to jump in headfirst and cause as much chaos as possible. His kit's really good at loading damage even without building for it already.
  • I was ALWAYS looking for fights. I was beginning to win lane when I realized our Yasuo was very slowly falling behind and beginning to feed and realized that if I don't help my teammates, we were going to lose. It came to the point that I was participating in virtually every major fight as I set up ganks for teammates or smacked as many people as I can with my ult in team fights.
  • The enemy team was squishy af. Their only tank was the Gnar I won lane against. You can't expect not to take damage even from champions like Tanks if you are full glass cannon.

I should also point out that not all tanks are made the same. Full Tank Mundo hurts a lot compared to say full tank Braum.
