Why doesn't MMR and rank hard reset with a new season? With new builds, champions, and players wouldn't it make more since to hard reset? The off-season should be for practicing to get better not MMR hunting.

Because there is absolutely nothing beneficial or competitive about having Bronzies and Diamonds in the same game.

I really don't want TSM, CLG, etc. to come into those first few ranked games every season and tear me a new asshole.

There's a pretty simple reason for that. The games would all be so lopsided that placements would be largely worthless. You get matched with a bronze player as your top laner and their top laner is Dyrus? GG you lose no matter what you do. You're a bronze jungler against a gold jungler but Pobelter is your midlaner? GG you win no matter what you do.

This would make everyone bronze at the beginning of every season. Just because Riot pulls big changes every preseason doesn't mean the entire game is completely new. For the most part many things stay the same. This season its marksman changes, last season was jungle, season before that was supports, etc. They take chunks and improve. So this season, the jungle isn't really changing much. Some item changes, but nothing drastic to make a jungle main need to start over. Last hitting is still the same. That hasn't changed, rotations are the same (its not a new concept).

For what are actually minor changes in the grand game that is league there is no reason for a hard reset. I mean what would ranked games be like with A bronze, me(plat), a gold player, and a challenger player against a 2 bronze, another challenger, and 2 gold? What does that really prove in terms of ranking? A Diamond player won't regress back to the same level as a bronze player just because of these changes. Its why we already reseed at a soft reset. The knowledge of the game isn't 100% changed each season. We carry over a good % of the knowledge with use between seasons. This isn't school we actually keep playing and stay up on information.

Because if the now Plat and Diamons players would actually be thrown together with bronze and Silver players, most of them would get stucked in silver. Cant do that, have to hold up the illusion that its actually skill that brings you to the top and not a game of "Who gets the less retard team"
