Why wasnt yasuo's damage ever nerfed ?

Riot tries to hit the guy from left and right, and its never effective.

But the problems is and always was that if you are a squish and you get hit with that tornado you will die before you will fall back on the ground, and he doesnt get to be gated by any long. cooldowns.

Yasuos kit was made to make him a fighter who deals high sustained damage, not an assasin who. can burst 24/7 but lacks reliable escape.

I feel like riot is either going to haywire and start literaly cutting his kit, simply remowing stuff from it to preserwe his "problems", instead of refining him as what he was supposed to be.

Now to the point. I get that yasuo can easily go opressive on you and keep the pace, so riot nerfs his early a lot. this means that yasuo's need to work harder to attain their end game fantasy But what this causes is that yasuo becomes a hit or miss champion, and the only thing that riot changes is the % of games yasuo gets to dominate.

What causes this stupid circle is Yasuo's insane gold scaling, since all the crit items give him much more power than to other champions, yasuos game is usualy decided by whether he can get a decent gold lead by either farming or killing.

So why does riot continue to break a magnificent champion instead of fixing him ?

Edit: Please point out any typos or other errors, i can suck at typing.

I'd argue that doing high damage in general is sort of the point of Yasuo, even moreso because he's melee (and is therefore riskier than ranged ADC's, especially given his lack of direct escapes). He's supposed to be a MADC, a carry of any kind will always kill another squishy very very quickly (you'd be lucky to survive even a single rotation from most mages or assassins in the lategame if you don't build any defense).

Yasuo probably power spikes too quickly, but thats another issue entirely (you could fix this by just changing his passive numbers honestly, having later spikes would probably let them buff his early game a tad).

Azir is probably the best comparison, as he's also a non-RADC sustained damage champion who focuses mostly on autos, but even he can kill you within a second or two of sand soldier autos lategame.

Yes, it will e 3 or 4 second trade if they are quite equal

For yasuo who didnt feed entire early game its one second, tornado ult and q and even if he needs that one auto to finish enemy off his q is a reset so fight is still one second long (tried it, loved it, but its toxic as fk)

And the only spot that riot touches is making it easier for yasuo to feed early.

Im not saying that he shouldnt do any damage at all, just that his damage which allows for assasnation, shouldnt be kept as his core feature that he is allanced around

Blink idea. What if yasuo's critical strike power would scale with levels, so his early crits are weaker than the late game ones- prevents powerspikes while keeping him quite intact (i agree with you that the powerspikes are a big problem)

id still give him around 3 seconds, thats still more than 1 but azir is meant to be a hypercarry, not just a carry but the most epic guy that melts teams by himself late game

but azir is meant to be a hypercarry, not just a carry but the most epic guy that melts teams by himself late game

Which is also true for Yasuo. Riot is hitting his early game or cheese such as REDUCED DAMAGE on Sweeping Blade(fyi, that's a damage nerf and it's been nerfed TWICE), because he's meant to be weak early and much better late.

The only difference between Yasuo and Azir is that Azir has literally 0 power spikes, while Yasuo scales heavily with damage items. That's nature of their kits though.

I'm pretty sure he WAS designed to be a mobile assassin, not a sustained-damage fighter.

riot branded him as a meele adc which is a" meele sustained damage dealer who builds glass cannon" to be specific

his insane damage combined with a gapcloser made people think of him as an assasin since his combo does what other assasins actualy do

now since ballancing came to play, riot cuts everything apart to preserwe him as an assasin, and i believe that it will destroy yasuo and make him much less fun than he is

ok, now think for a minute what would happen if he didnt have a gap closer? it would make for a really shitty champion.

all of the melee adc are champions that are mobile to some degree and deal a ton of damage in melee. its the compensation for not having a ranged auto attack and risking their skin by going head to head with those tanks.

the only way to compensate for their squishyness is to give them a lot of outplay potential.

and thats why yasuo is so unique, he has the mechanics to counteract that normal adc's are meant to hit the frontline to not get in danger, yasuo gets to cut the enemy backline off with the wall so he can have some timewith frontline, and even if rangeds kite him he has a shield to block part of that

whatever problems madc's have becuase of being meele, yasuo's kit was meant to solwe, and i think it does, at least it did before the nerfs came, his capability to survive ranged onslaught got gutted to preserwe his capability to kill the backline himself

It was not. Yasuo kit was an attempt to create a mADC without invincibility-like effects.

It always kind of bothered me that all Yas needs to do is get a single item 3087 to gain a tremendous damage spike.

I guess the power isn't touched because they want him to feel more rewarding? I don't know, but yasuo's kit takes some decent skill to use. You have to land that skillshot in order to ult in the first place.

... But it's almost like a LeeSin factor in that the player's skill is really the only major obstacle for him, which I can't say is good design.

the problem is, that between a decently skilled lee sin and a decently skilled opponent, the lee sin will either always come out ahead or just disengage the fight and try again later.

the reason i found yasuo never as frustrating as lee sin is, that hes a lot easier to fight if you keep the conditions in mind that are connected to most of his abilities.

he needs 3 strikes on his q to be able to get a nado. he needs to hit the nado for his ult to be useful. meaning the best time to engage is, after he just spent the third charge.

his shield gets set off by the tiniest amount of damage and takes a while to recharge. so setting it off at the right time just before he throws a nado and then going in when it runs out increases your chances against him.

his e is on a reltively short cooldown, but thats coupled with the restriction of having to dash over you or your creeps. if you keep an eye on that, you can anticipate his movement and outposition him.

yasuos mobility is entirely restricted to engages. his ability to escape if you dont fight him near your own creeps is practically nonexistent.

meanwhile lee sins mobility is much less conditional. he can drop a ward anywhere then w to it. either to engage or escape. he can throw q's from much further range until he hits a lucky one and then decide to go in or stay back. which allows him to create more windows of opportunity much more frequently.

if a fight ever doesnt go his way, he can hit r to disengage and try again later.

overall lee sin is much less punishing to make mistakes as, as yasuo. while he will punish you for even the smallest mistake. which makes him incredibly frustrating to fight.

well they try to preserwe what is unique in a champion and remove anything else

but in yasuos case they cant preserwe his damage becuase capability to burst makes his entire kit toxic

you could say the same about every single mage. why is it a problem in yasuos case? in fact he takes more risks to actually burst someone than most mages do.

not to mention, the counterplay to his ult in case he does get it off, is exactly the same as katarinas. it gives you a long enough delay to react to it and interrupt him with cc.

someone like alistar should be really easy to make use of to counter yasuo. all he has to do is point and klick w on him when he hits someone with his ult.

its much more difficult to deal with a flash tibbers.

Thats how Riot works. Instead of nerfing what makes a champion broken, they break his legs.

I honestly just think that they should get rid of either windwall OR his dash. As a mid player, its just so frustrating trying to play against him. Very much the kind of character that if you don't have the tools needed to defeat him, your chance of winning is very, very low. Even when you win its just NOT FUN.

Also, both he (and Kalista) are two champions that change a fundamental part of the game in a bad way; they make you FEAR your minion wave. Running away from them. Yay, I got awa... FUCK MY MINION WAVE! Dash dash dash dash dead.

qetzel1 votes

To be fair, the specific counterplay to Yasuo is to play around your minions. I like things like this.

Moussetracks1 votes

Even if you stand away from your minions, he can still dash to you pretty damn easy.

Vistha Kai2 votes

Really, Yasuo is restricted to minion waves and you find that hard to deal with? How many champions in this game have little-to-zero restrictions while being harder, better, faster, stronger?
