I'd like having Sightstone built into my support item to free up some space, and I don't mind having it act more like the upgraded trinket. Trinket is actually really efficient, and the only reason supports shouldn't take it is because they can get SIghtstone + Sweeper, but there's no main-slot item for vision denial.

On the other hand, I don't really think forcing junglers to never take Sightstone is a good thing. It's not the worst thing ever, but Junglers still have the problem of wanting to place a lot of wards, but also clear a lot of wards so the Sightstone + Sweeper combo is the only option for that. I'd rather they just buff ancient coin as a starting item, and Frost Queen's as a late-game item to balance the options out. I also wouldn't object to changing Sightstone to recharge without backing, or creating an "Antisight"stone to give the option to bring the Yellow trinket and still have good vision clearing options.

Or whe just could add a similar vision upgrade on the jungle item. But maybe in a different form:

  • Grant you true sight for 10 seconds the next time you are spotted by an enemy ward or trap (180 seconds cooldown)
  • Places an Pink Ward (120 second cooldown)
  • Reveals small location within 3500 range for 2 seconds (90 second cooldown)

Than they are able to get the item 3361 trinket & their you got your wards.

I love this. Seems to me like it would make the role of Support a bit more enjoyable. Make it so.

I think I disagree overall. I do like the transformation thingy though.

Frost queen's Claim does needs something to make it standout a bit more, but otherwise I don't think we really need anything else

CoolKnightST1 votes

Tribute has now a AP ratio so not sure whe really need to give it something else.

Personally, I'd prefer it if Riot pushed support itemization toward lower stat, lower cost items with actives. The current gp10 3rd tier is an attempt at this, where most of the stats you pay for are an income source in their own right, but I'd be hesitant to push those actives onto non-gp10 items. It also would be yet another way for laners to abuse support itemization and get them removed (heart of gold, never forget).

CoolKnightST1 votes

I don't think abuse would be a big problem. Add least for the income items:

  • item 3303 / item 3098 disables when killing minions
  • item 3302 / item 3097 need a champion to trigger & cannot be used on champions that have this item
  • item 3301 / item 3096 doesn't provide any combat stats

As for from rebranded items. I don't see a problem why they shouldn't be used in other roles. As far the stats goes:

  • Fencing Shield: Provides less health than item 3800, but in maybe situational it's intressting. I don't see really a situation where it would be broken.
  • Arctic Mageblade: Maybe mages will look into it as a alternative for item 3165. But as far the stats goes it's not going to break anything.
  • Royal Sole/Royal Sunlight/Royal Sun/Rising Sun: An really powerfull active, one of the reason in increased the cooldown & add that they can't use the same active on that same champion for 30 seconds. I can see use of it for maybe a utility toplane but it's not going to break anything with those combat stats.

This is one of the reason why I want to keep the core effects provided from the gold income items. Their actualy really ballanced. I would like to ask you what champion in what role would be so effective with this itematization?

Mandang01 votes

Any mage who autoattacks as part of their harassment would get the mageblade. Mageblade seems the most likely to be abused imo, I guess I don't worry much about the other two.

And to clarify my concern about actives: I think actives should be a support strength, and I think they should come at the expense of stats on the item (again, making them good on supports). Moving the active off of the gp10 harms supports, as now they no longer get an active that helps their team, but instead get more stats. Moving the active onto a different item just encourages other roles to buy it, so without any new active items, support itemization is going to get more boring (you get stats like everyone else, just not as much). My 'support fantasy' (to use Riot terms) was never to have as much gold or stats as my teammates, it was to provide a similar impact as them.

Idk, just my 2 cents.

CoolKnightST1 votes

This funny, the one side says Arctic Mageblade will be overpowered while the other side says it's underpowered.

To get in statistics, the champions your are reffering to are champions will high attackrange that can aply their harras. As far that goes most midlane mages will not have enouge attack range to aply the pressure you are reffering. And don't talk about Annie as an example since her range get nerfed next patch.

So who's left: KogMaw, Tristana (AP), Anivia, Zyra. None of them will be problematic with the item. All other will have an attack range from 550 or lower.

I don't think item 3092 should give more stats since it's already cheaper (1650 gold) if you don't include the 800 gold from the vision it provides. It still will give supports that same combat stats earlyer in the game.

Mandang01 votes

You don't need that high of range. Ahri would use it, LB could use it, even melees with gapclosers could use it (Fizz),

CoolKnightST1 votes

Both Ahri as Leblanc would prefer item 3285 over it. As far Fizz goes, it seems intressting for him. He can use it as a gapcloser, it will really depend if the lose of the movementspeed & the 20 ability power is worth it. I can agrea it could be strong on him. It will sure give him a bigger powerspike earlyer most because it's 400 gold cheaper. However for more lategame scaling item 3100 will still be better. For some reason it will still be healthy for the game. Mostly because he will lose lategame scaling from it. Maybe reduce the mana back to 250 if the item really becomes a problem on him.

I like the trend of what you're doing with the GP/5 items and it definitely makes sightstone a better buy (and with gp/5 needed, it won't be abused in other roles).

For the rebranded items: As far as I know, the Face of the Mountain Active can be activated on the item's owner which grants an inordinate amount of dueling power for bulky top laners... Mid to late game, it wouldn't be problematic, I don't think (except that 2-3 of those on a team would get very obnoxious very quickly) but early game, it provides a lot of defense... Maybe tone it down a bit and then scale it on champion level?

For Arctic Mage Blade, the Frost Queen active was never that strong and the sheen active is just too weak in the form you've given to warrant its use. :/ It's only 200 gold away from the obviously superior lich bane (movement speed is a stat most supports crave too while support itemization overloads CDR-- note that Lich bane is never bought).

Royal/Rising/Sun-of-Some-Sort: Point Runner has always been a bit... Meh. I think the active is good but lower cooldown to 60 seconds since you already have the no re-effect for 30 seconds. Also, maybe grant a bit of health? ~200 or so so it makes it a good defensive buy? Supports that dive the enemy tea mwill want more defense than this.

CoolKnightST1 votes

As far Fencing Shield goes, this is the reason I increase the cooldown on it to 90 seconds. If it really becomes to strong whe could increase the cooldown even more or like you said nerf the active a little bit.

For Arctic Mage Blade I think it's stronger than you think and compaired to lich bane I think this item would suit supports a lot better. Don't forget the cooldown is still 60 seconds so I don't think it would be seriously overpowered tho.

Royal Sole/Royal Sunlight/Royal Sun/Rising Sun (what names is best in your opinion?) I don't this the meh Point Runner passive will prevent the item from be bought. As far item actives goes it's one of the strongest actives in the game. I think reducing the cooldown again will make the item to strong. I really shouldn't give it health. I think the concept a being a armor alternative for item 3222 will be enouge.

A Tall Joke1 votes

For fencing shield, Cooldowns aren't that important; if you win one kill, then the enemy has to play defensively because now you're ahead and they can't fight you and when those 40 seconds or so of laning are up? Free turret dive.

Arctic Mage Blade, I'm not denying it's better for supports but I'm saying the active is underwhelming and so is the passive. It also provides subpar stats. By the time I want to buy it, the poke power of Sheen is far past its peak; if I wanted more damage, I could just put down for a Lich Bane. If I didn't and wanted initiation ability, I'd go for the Point Runner item and 60 AP definitely doesn't justify the build for me. Like, if I'm playing Janna, I'd rather build a death cap and give my ADC 70 bonus AD. Sounds a lot more useful.

I don't know the best name for it. We could just got with Shurima's Ascension again haha. At any rate, fair point on the armor but 60 second cooldown makes more sense because the current talisman has that without the drawback of no repeated targets.

CoolKnightST1 votes

For fencing shield, whe can nerf the active than

As far Arctic Mage Blade goes, some say it would even be overpowered. So I wouldn't pull the underpowered word over here;

I believe riot had a reason why not name it Shurima's Ascension again. I still not sure it's a good idea the reduce the cooldown. Their is a reason why Sivir is so strong right now.

A Tall Joke1 votes

But if we nerf the active, it's underwhelming mid to late game

I think we might just disagree here but these items are only available starting mid game and the power of these items should be scaled as such, I think (for supports' sake)

The reason why Sivir is really strong though is her pushing ability. This item doesn't automatically give you push power....

Zavern1 votes

Its interesting, but to get the items with the actives you would need to sacrifice ward coverage.

CoolKnightST2 votes

why?

Stacona1 votes

First off, already active items Second off, not required or needed Third off, the current system is fine, if anything finding ways to grant more gold to supports be cool for they are more like actual roles and less starved
