Thought on the current "shield the hypercarry" meta

What do yall think about the idea of adding diminishing returns to heals/shields from allied champion abilities/item actives on the same target? For example, say the enemy team has janna Kog botlane w/ an oriana mid, Kog gets jumped on Janna gives him the E shield, which is full strength but then Oriana shield and janna ult have their effects on Kog reduced if they are used on him before the diminishing returns debuff goes away.

I think this would add counterplay and skill expression to an extent because supports and other champs w/ the utility of shields would have another factor to consider when using their shield/heal on the adc rather than just autoshielding them whenever it is off cooldown.

Plus it would give the other team a better window to focus/burst the adc rather than the adc immediately getting 2.5k damage worth of shields and not going below half hp.

No, because the inherent problem is with the marksmen, not the supports.

I disagree, Marksmen have always had a big damage spike at 2 and 3 items (that said I could see the argument that they spike too early b/c of their itemization being cheaper), the difference is that they used to have to position themselves intelligently so they wouldn't get hit by CC or get focused down because of squishyness.

But now Kogmaw and trist can practically frontline and still be unkillable through the shields/heals from their team (example, C9 Vs WE kogmaw tanking Sejuani ult and orianna ult and not going below half hp).

Marksman damage is very reliable, and I think that is Okay, as long as the counterplay of target selecting and focusing the adc down is also a viable strategy, but with the power that shielding supports have right now combined with support itemization bought by tanks in toplane and jungle item 3109 item 3190 the intended weakness of squishyness and having to position intelligently is greatly reduced for adcs.

Oh, thanks Sona. Your 30 point shield just halved my 400 point item 3190/item 3107. For the entire team. Thanks.

Oh, and Soraka? In addition to your healing costing a tenth of your max health per cast, healing a target puts a more powerful version of GW on them, which stacks with the regular GW! As if the % max health cost wasn't enough, now doing LITERALLY THE THING THAT YOUR KIT WAS DESIGNED TO DO now makes you inefficient your job! Oh, did you use w on your adc? Well now your q regen, any further w's, and your ult heals for crap because you dared to use the kit how it is supposed to be used.

Because this sounds like a good idea.

The only time you shield off cooldown is in middle of a fight, when damage is going to be heading towards them anyway.

If you are doing it in lane, you are terrible at the champ.
