Junglers and Objective Control

How often do you play with junglers who completely refuse take to dragon? I am puzzled why these junglers are more concerned with small camps instead of focusing the huge global buff that they could give to their entire team.

I see this problem frequently when a teammate decides to split push at the wrong time when your team can win a 5v5 team fight.

There needs to be a RIOT video/tutorial on how to jungle. The low mid and even some advanced ranking play for junglers is just fail at best. Typically, If we don't have a dragon by level 8 I know the JG is complete fail and I'm on my own.

There's many other vids/tutorials that benefit people but the "correct" way to jungle or at least the some basic guidelines would benefit sooo many players and I don't have to feel like I'm the asshole when I explain what they're doing wrong and they think I'm toxic.

If you are behind, don't take dragon, it doesn't give enough gold and exp.

But .. sometimes .. the devourer junglers at my ELO @ bronze 1 ... not even sated by 35 minutes .. T_T

If bottom lane and/or mid lane are too far behind, taking Dragon is a horrible idea unless a couple of them are dead. Their team has more pressure, likely ward control, and combat strength so trying to take dragon will more than likely result in them killing you.

Ignoring Dragon entirely is a bad idea, but there are times you have to realize that it's too risky to take it and that you shouldn't bother with it.

More then anything I see poor timing to go for dragon then no one going for dragon such as.

Example: The enemy bot lane is still there and jungler is up and the bot pings for dragon. Works sometimes but most of the time this fails.

If I have not got dragon by lvl 6-8 its because my team is losing its lanes and its not safe to take dragon. I do though if this is the situation keep Dragon warded along with the river.

taking dragon is a rather complicated task

  1. you lose hp and time and you gain almost no gold and experience so if you take dragon (too) early, you fall behind and ive seen people take dragon at like lvl 4-5-6 or so and i wont let them come back into the game ever again. im one full level above them and i have an extra longsword/or so from the same time and all they have is +6% ad/ap. cool.

  2. he gave away his positioning for the dragon and he will most likely recall after it and his bot jungle is most likely gone. i can go into his top jungle, ward it, take it and eventually let him facecheck me and snowball my position.

  3. also, if the enemy jungler is alive, there is always the risk of stealing it and if your laners have no lanecontrol, there is always the risk of the enemy team collapsing on you or at least pushing you in/taking a tower etc. sure you can sometimes take dragon and if you are in a position where you want to force fights, you can use dragon as a contestible objective to do so. also, if you are a devourer jungler and your devourer is finished (minute 7-9) you might want to go for dragon for the extra stacks BUT if you are a devourer jungler and you DIDNT finish your devourer yet, you might not want to take that dragon not only because you dont get the extra stacks but also because you lose alot of time to potentially finish/stack your devourer otherwise. i RARELY RARELY RARELY go for dragon before my devourer is done.

  4. if you have no mapcontrol but enemies still cant collaps on you for whatever reason and you lose a tower for that dragon, its allready not worth it unless its the third/fifth dragon and its not an inhib tower (obviously) and also not a mid tower. other than that, if you lose a tower for dragon its just not worth it at all.

  5. by mid season 5 allready but especially since preseason, dragons became worth a lot less since the gametime dropped so stacking them became very unlikely.

it may be a bit sad but neither dragon nor herald are objectives. they are merely a bonus.

i just dont understand why my mid and bot lane wants to take dragon when my top lane is split pushing top, i am counter jungling enemy top side jg and looking for a gank top, and we have no vision of there jg/river and we dont know where enemy jg mid are.

Idk dude, those raptors look pretty juicy.

Cause right now after the first drag it's not worth much, not to mention towers are worth way more and more games are lost trying to contest dragon.
