IDK why they decided against the mini VGU for her along with Kayle. Originally she was supposed to receive some gameplay changes, but they pulled out on those sadly. Morgana really needs a new W and a new passive.

The new passive and W were always only maybes. They said from the beginning that Morg was basically only going to be a VU, because her kit was still almost perfectly fine for its purpose.

Have you considered that's the point?

Look at it this way: why do you pick Morgana? Is it for the long lasting snare, the CC-immunity shield, and the strong possible stun from her ult?

Or is it for her damage?

You don't usually want to nerf what makes the champion unique. Do that, and you end up with homogenization, where every champion is basically the same.

While that is still possible, just know it’s not going to be the best as it’s not the ideal (just like Kayle can support, she jus let isn’t the best at it).

Players have shown that they don’t enjoy playing against “endlessly shove waves and don’t interact with lane opponent” play styles, and thus Riot has nerfed that so it isn’t as successful.

They nerfed her W because they don't give a single fuck about mid morganas. Why don't they come out and say she is a support only champ now is beyond me.

They could have easily nerfed her E base a ton and buff her E ratio so she has to buy AP

Because Mid Morgana was the one which was performing too well, so they wanted to nerf her harder than her support, which is fine. Nerfing her E (especially if you nerf base and buff ratio) would nerf her support, not her mid lane.
