Fiddlesticks does no damage. He needs a major damage buff badly. He cannot out drain anyone. So what is the point of having drain? Oh to refill health, except that the enemy will never let you refill anything. His E is a joke, and his ult can be ignored. This champ needs so much help that at this point a complete rework might be better than a buff.
Horrible mana issues. Zero survivability. Extremely low range. A silence that apparently doesn't even silence, either that or is last for 0.0001 seconds.
In a meta where anti healing items are built by everyone, drain is a very weak ability yes. Mundo has the same problem. Fiddle's main issue was the jungle changes, as his E is almost good against stuff like raptors and krugs, but doesn't do much against red buff, blue buff, or gromp. AP itemization is super wonky for him, and riot just hasn't done anything about it. He doesn't have a strong keystone, he's got soooo many counters. (Literally anyone who wards or is a champion with Hard CC.) Trackers Knife was a lowkey nerf to him as well. And I love fiddlesticks. I really do. But he just doesn't work. And it makes me sad too man.

lot of people don't understand why... it took me years to understand what is wrong with fiddle !!!
Basicaly, sometimes he can "feel" strong... but he has so many flaws that makes him unplayable/frustrating
scenario 1: you think you are doing a good game, you are 5/0/5... you kill 3 of them but ennemy jungler lives, your team insist to do baron (surely ennemy jungler cannot steal it taht easily) but fiddlesticks get outsmited everytime because (you are underleveled / you cannot combo with another spell to smite)
scenario 2: game get in late game, you are 15/2/20... you are useless as fuck ! yeah they bought adaptative helm and your E cannot bounce !!!
scenario 3: you and your team are doing great since minute 1... but a bad fight and you die ! you hope your team will def baron !!! they fight ! you respawn and you want to def baron !!! but NO ! you don't have ult ! you are useless as fuck ^^
scenario 4: an ennemy in the ennemy team do you the honor of countering you... he doesn't pick janna, he picks something that can put wards and even cancel your ult...
scenario 5: you thought you can kill a 0/5 blitzcrank with you 10/0 fiddle ? actually no... you probably cannot ! if you meet him in 1v1 you are probably dead as fuck
scenario 6: an ennemy have 5% hp, but there is no creep around him... can you kill him ? no. E does NO damage if it doesn't bounce
scenario 7: you lose your first blue... if you play in elo higher than gold you can almost already ff since you cannot farm anymore
other problems: cannot really start red... so easy to counter ^^

Good luck ignoring that 3500 damage ult in the late game melting your face off. I'm sure it will work out great.
He is a scary threat in the late game. If you want to teamfight and have no vision of Fiddle you propably shouldn't do it.
Problem is that, getting to that part of the game is hard for Fiddle.
Maybe making his drain still work while in Zhonyeas might be an idea. Or that he could still walk while draining but with a heavy self slow. That could make it so maybe people would like to go phase rush on him. Letting the E bounce off himself (without damage and silence of course) So he can fight invading junglers when mobs aren't near.
These could be good buffs just of the top of my head
Fiddlesticks is a product of the past. His kit worked then, but the game has shifted far away from that time and he left just feeling like a clunky mess that has to work so hard for so little payoff. Unlike most champions with strong CC, his CAN be reduced by Tenacity and Cleansed. There is an abundant amount of Tenacity in the game right now, with there being the Resolve and Precision runes along with Mercury Treads, Elixir of Iron, and Sterak's Gage. He just doesn't hold up too anyone in a comparison.

If fiddlesticks could "out-drain" opponents like you seem to think he should be able to do, he would be absolutely busted and OP. That would be the most toxic and infuriating thing for melees to play against, because it is a lose-lose situation where they either have to dive in and face-tank it to try to out-damage the sustain from it or they have to run away and take free damage because they can't trade with it. It already kind of works like that, and you are suggesting that it should be made even worse?
Riot should put such a lose-lose mechanic in the game when pigs fucking fly.
His skills are fine, but they could use some add-ons like movable while draining with a 10% self slow like leoric in heroes of the Storm. His passive is pretty meh to me.
Compared for how much point and click hard cc he has ,his dmg is fine.He needs a rework not a buff.
