AD vs AP

If the enemy team is heavy AP, no problem, just make one magic resist item and you're good.

On the other hand, if there is a fed AD top, like Nasus, Riven, Jax, etc., or fed ADC, you really can't stack enough armor. Even with three or four defensive items, all with armor on them, you're still going to get shredded.

I don't quite understand why this is. Maybe AD has crit, maybe armor pen (lethality) is better than magic pen, maybe AD has more percent health options (blade of the ruined king). Maybe AD champions are just made more powerful than AP ones.

All I know is that AD is much harder to defend against than AP.

item 3047 X500000

A riven has a harder time doing damage in fights than say an azir in the current game state.

It's because with most mages, they only deal damage through their spells where as AD champions have strong auto attacks on top of their spells (which could some times deal more than AP champions depending on the AD champion). There are some mages like DPS mages, where you would need more than 1 MR item to survive through like Azir Cassiopeia but most mages do feel generally countered by just 1 MR item unless they have strong HP% damage or True damage in their kits Brand Velkoz

We'll see how things go when the new patch hits tomorrow and the new AP item changes goes through. I feel AP would start to feel threatening to tanks and others again with those changes and way more build options will open up as well.
