The one thing I hate about the Cold Steel Passive being both on Randuins and Thronmail.

I actually don't thing Cold Steel being on Thornmail is a bad thing, people think it's counter productive. Which in some thought is true, but I also look at it on like Brusiers or Divers as a useful thing that allows them some breathing room vs ADCs when their trying to kite them. (Rambling)

I hate it because if you face a more Crit Focus team such as Tryn Yas and Generic AS ADC, all 3 of them depend on Crit so Randuins would be the optimal of the two right? Well Thornmail also greatly helps against them because at some point they're going to build Life Steal and you want that Grievous wound.

You can still buy both, it's just less gold efficient, in a case like the one mentioned you should probably buy both items, even if it is inefficient.

Basically this. Otherwise you'd just build it to fuck the ADC. But now you only want to build it if they're all AA oriented. I'll build both if they have an ADC, a mid Yasuo, and a top Tryndamere or something similar. Hell in most of my games they have 4 ADCs then the support.

Or you can build bramble vest and sit on it until you need to upgrade it for your final item. Bramble is a really good item on its own.

The only thing I can think of to make both (somewhat) more worth buying together is to make one of the cold steels have a stronger attack speed reduction(Probably item 3075 ) and give the other an additional effect on the cold steel like slowing movement speed as well.

This is how item 3078 + item 3025 works -- even though both have the same unique passive, the best components of both are applied (damage from trinity, aoe from iceborn).

Double sheen iwould very very rarely be worth it even with the benefits of both. It can result in overloading on CDR and just isn't stat efficient for the gold. Triple sheen even more so, as the damage portion of sheen proc only ever takes the BEST damage it can. item 3057 Won't give an additional 100% damage and item 3100 won't deal any damage unless it would do more than item 3078 .

I just used it as an example of something similar happening with a named effect.

my olden days Sion item 3078 build, back when he had stupid AP scalings. Or Shen item 3105 item 3111 . Might still be fun to do if you're stomping hehe

Riot WANTED to make these items Gold Inefficient together because of the mass amount of reduction they can get against ADCs with all of their tools.

Tanks are meant to Eat burst. And die to sustained damage (Adaptive was added because there was no real counter to sustain AP because removing a percentage of that damage means your still being pelted.)

But with the holy "Fuck ADC" Trio of item 3075 item 3143 item 3047 they had to make sure that you arent IMMORTAL with these.

A lot of times when Omen is the go to item, Thornmail is also the go to item. So it feels bad to buy two items that generally like to be boughten together and have a passive that you have to waste money on.
