@Riot Can you tell us how many resources are currently being put into in game voice communication?

The latest Ask Riot mentioned that Riot is willing to put voice communication into the game now, but said something about waiting till the League Client update is in a stable release. And I have absolutely no idea what that means. As far as I'm concerned, the client seems quite stable as it is. I crash so rarely I can't even remember the last time I've actually crashed. What exactly does it mean when they say they want to wait till the League Client update is in a stable release?

And how many people and departments are currently working on the in game voice chat? How many more will be added when the "League Client update is in a stable release"?

As somebody who plays ranked mainly solo, this is what I consider to be the most important thing you can do for ranked outside of adding true solo queue. This is pretty much the only way to make things fair for solo players queued up in dynamic. This seems like it should have every spare hand working on it to reintroduce some competitive integrity into dynamic queue. So I really want to know what the progress is on this.

30 resources.

More seriously, they're waiting until the LCU (League Client Update) is ready to go. They don't want to invest large amounts of time building a system on architecture that's going to be obsolete in a few months.

basically, if they do add it. it'll be towards the end of the finished client update.

What does that even mean? What part of the client isn't finished? Honestly, in game voice communication is literally the only change to the client I've even heard of coming.

the new client has barely been started. we JUST got the rune pages and such. draft (normal) wont be for months. Its cleaner looking, uses a different code etc. There are some new features i think are being added, but its mainly to give League a newer look than to add new stuff at the moment.

It doesnt require much resources as the interface exists. I would probably turn it off because i dont want to hear teenagers that think they know what they are doing telling me what to do.

If you want to speak with friends while playing, you can do as i do and use either TeamSpeak or Skype.

oh great, so they're going to be implementing a bunch of aesthetic bullshit before they do the critical work to fix competitive integrity

A lot of the client work is not simply a new paint job, though from the players' point of view it's very difficult to see anything other than the aesthetic changes. They're changing a good deal of the underlying architecture at the same time, both to streamline old features and make it easier to add new ones.

Is there a post or something somewhere that outlines what changes they're trying to make to the client? I don't recall reading one about client changes.
