Main reason I'll never actually be good at this game.
I can't play with an unlocked camera. Like I don't even understand how people do it.

If you hold down the space bar key (at least that is what it is for me) it will auto lock your screen and then if you ever need to unlock it you just let go so you can slide to whatever you need to look at. Then holding space again will recenter the screen on you. This is how I play since like you not being in the center can get confusing for me. Its not perfect but if gives the option to go unlocked when you need to while still being centered for the majority of the time.
THIS.
Learn to hold/press spacebar, get in the habit of doing it. Then using unlocked camera will be ez. I forced myself on champs that NEEDED me to use spacebar when I go all in otherwise I end up in like the top corner of my screen and flub any combo or miss the kill.
But... isn't Space Bar key used to jump? :o
giggles frenetically
Playing an RTS would get you used to it.

yeah play command and conquer games that's what i grew up on. Or just play on a super low level account and practice. Only a couple days and you would be able to do it.
how do you learn anything? practice. I suggest not being so lazy or it will hinder you in the future as well. Also Ive known plenty of people that are highish elo with only locked screen. I just dont understand how you cant lol
I just find it dizzying and hard to focus when your character isn't in the middle of the screen.
I'm in the same boat.
I played RTS games before I started playing league so lockscreen felt so unnatural from the beginning.

Me too......
I come from a Starcraft background so I have no idea how people play WITH a locked camera.
I feel constrained if I can't move my screen around.
Yeah, its really hard. I try to unlock my camera whenever I can and play with it even if I do terribly. Still pretty crap with it but I'm getting better.
I feel you man, I was forced to learn it because of purple side. If that didn't exist...
I've never had trouble with purple side, only time it's kind of annoying is when I'm bot lane on the purple side.
One YouTuber I watch plays with camera lock and he was plat. So it's possible.
I get way too confused when unlocking my camera.
I feel you, I came from the MMO experience... character is always centered. It actually took me around 3 months to start learning how to use an unlocked camera, and I was already 30 by then...
Sad times...
A big thing is that most of the time you're only moving around in a small area (near a minion wave, jungle camp or tower/inhibitor), so you can leave the screen in place and you'll stay on screen even if you're not right in the center. Another is getting used to moving the screen: when you just want to see something a little off screen you move your cursor to the very edge, which will move the screen that direction (this is what you'll do most of the time). When you want to see what's going on farther away, you click on the minimap to move your field of view to that location.
Get used to pressing spacebar to snap the screen back to your champion. I don't do this much, but you can hold down the spacebar when you need the screen to stay centered on you (generally when you're moving).
More than anything, it just takes practice and repetition. It feels really weird at first, but the more you do it the more comfortable with it you'll become. I've been playing unlocked for several years and now I can't stand having my screen locked because it feels like I'm wearing horse blinders.
Play something like Warcraft II/III, Age of Empires or any other RTS game and you'll get used to it ^^
Or just LOL. It's just about practise really. Once you've done it a lot, you find it easy, though it's harsh at the beginning.
