Nid and Ryze both have 43% win rates.

And yet somehow I've still seen them picked in the LCS recently

LCS and soloQ are very different. Dont go into toplane as Yasuo thinking you will win even if your team has no tanks just because you saw ZionSpartan doing it.

Nidalee was bad below Platinum before her last nerf, but incredibly strong in Platinum and above which is the sample Riot claims to balance around. So stop using LoLKing to make points unless you are showing variation in win rate by ELO, use http://champion.gg/ instead.

nida is still not nerfed in the lcs

Acidic Puddle3 votes

WOW win rates don't mean everything!!! what is this, real life!?!?!

Duh. SoloQ is not competetive, some people in bronze should not play these kinds of champs like Nidalee and Ryze. Im at 60% win rate over 300+ games on Nidalee, and recently I have been at about 80%. She is not bad, however some people are not good.

TurquoiseYoshi3 votes

When did you see Ryze? I haven't seen him in ages. Or, you know, since about Week 6 or so of the LCS.

Kingopants1 votes

In Korean LCS Ryze is a favoured pick with a pretty high Pick and Ban Ratio.

TurquoiseYoshi1 votes

Looking at the playoffs, it seems like he has only been favored in one series, where he had been played very well in game 1 and banned for games 2-5. Where are you getting your data from?

iamleburk1 votes

thats really all the data he needs, seeing as how those are the most recent games in korea to go off of and he was pick/ban for 5 out of 5 games of a series. then again, so was gp in the EU finals

TurquoiseYoshi1 votes

The thing is, it was a midlane Ryze. That makes it seems more like a pick that KT had to ban away from KOO just because KOO liked it and KT hated it.

iamleburk1 votes

faker's also very good on ryze. if KT hate it, i expect to see it in the finals tonight

stealthfox941 votes

Like a couple weeks ago in Europe. Don't remember who played him though.

Solo queue and pro play are completely different, too many variables present.

I recall a Red saying that if Heimerdinger was balanced for pro play, he'd have like a 60% win rate in solo queue. And just look at Lee Sin.

It took a very broken patch for someone to unseat the King, this is the last 7 days.

IcyPepper1 votes

Lee Sin doesn't have a great win rate, but he has a great pick rate in solo queue. And pros love the guy.

Skarner, however? He's a monstrosity at the moment.

I was mainly referring to the dinger and how strong he is and has been for quite a while now.

We have beheld the Donger!

Meanwhile Cassie has a 44% winrate and doesn't get picked at all in the LCS. Cassiopeia item 3070

Orangesilk5 votes

She did for a while, but then boards people cried "Nerf the witch!" because they couldn't deal with her immobile, squishy, skillshot reliant ass. She got nerfed so hard, so bad, so evil, she was nuked out of orbit.

Cassiopeia is my favorite example of why the boards know nothing about balance.

Canastus2 votes

Exactly, since then she has lost any viability.

The entire meta along with its posterchildren counter her with extreme ease since they all have access to either hard cc, burst, range or mobility. All things which are capable of shutting down Cass, it's beyond me why she was even nerfed. To make matters worse, all of her counterpicks were buffed, too.

The only thing which can save her now is another rework.

Orangesilk1 votes

They could revert the nerfs though.

I mean, Riot never reverts nerfs right? Zed

Canastus2 votes

I feel they have a strong dislike for Cassiopeia in general, she got the short end of the stick in pretty much all matters. Cinematics, merchandise or ingame goodies like icons? Not a single appearance. Skins? Haven't seen one in over 2 1/2 years. VU? Only received a cheap TU and a disappointing new voiceover. Lore? Absolutely destroyed. Rework? The most unpopular in the history of this game so far.

CasterGilgamesh2 votes

its so sad they made her a flat out E spammer lol it takes so much to get anything out of her you might as well play any other burst mage

Canastus3 votes

Hah, it's always amusing to see this image pop up.

CasterGilgamesh2 votes

i like spamming it but i limit it to whenever shes mentioned

Poske2 votes

Lcs is a patch late thats why you can see kitty there

Ryze is diffrent case Once you have 125+ games on him you ll have atleast 60% winrate with him assuming you are good

General Murica2 votes

Nida is still strong af, just people are used to her faceroll-status+elise took her role

reminder that everyone that asks for a nidalee buff is representative of the worst parts of the league community bar none.

I didn't say she should be buffed.

and that's why you're OK.

Alpharite2 votes

I feel bad for lane Nidalee players though.

pacifishstick1 votes

I hope you meant mid lane Nidalee players, because as a top lane main I never want to see that thing again.

Alpharite1 votes

I didn't really have a problem with AP Toplane Nidalee.

But yeah the AD variant right after her rework was fucking insane. Something like a 2.68 scaling on her hunted Q?

pacifishstick1 votes

Oh yeah that's what I meant. I don't care about AP Nid. It's the AD monstrosity (much like AD Fizz) that annoyed me.

TotalJerk2 votes

Ryze is shit in soloQ and as a side-effect of Riot forcing jungle Nidalee to be a thing, they made her unplayable in lane.

Jungle Lux God1 votes

Some heroes are good, but only by those that actually know how to play them. Others are really good on a competitive team that can coordinate around them.

Ryze and Nidalee are examples of at least one of these kinds of heroes. I'm not sure about Nidalee, but I know that Ryze is really bad unless you know how to play him, and really good by those that do know how to play him.

Silents4291 votes

Does this really surprise you?

Nekusen1 votes

having 5v5 teams, winrates mean nothing, even less when they are all so close to 50%

djjomon1 votes

That moment when the rest of the community realizes competitive play is actually not soloq

CoolKnightST1 votes

The reason why Ryze has so a low winrate in solo Q is that team can't coördinate well enouge to get this Ryze to the lategame. Nidalee has amazing early pressure but falls off the longer the game goes. She doesn't have cc so that's most likely why she falls off in that area. Not to mention the skillcap that is required to play her on that level.

Totalis1 votes

Nid has a 39% win rate in the mid lane but a 47% win rate in the jungle. This is why she averages 43%, plus she's strong in the jungle, which is why she's picked in the LCS

No, it is because the cited win rates come from LoLKing, which is the average across all ELOs as well as positions. Both champions have the two lowest average win rates over the last month at all ELOs below platinum.

You are bringing up the win rates from champion.gg, where her average win rate is 46.38% if you lump both listed positions (jungle and mid) together. Because Nidalee works better at higher levels of play.

B1naryB0t1 votes

Azir Hi.

stealthfox941 votes

Has a 47% win rate. Which is around the same win rate Leblanc had when she was considered OP.

ZephyrDrake1 votes

it might be because the nerfs to nid aren't in effect yet in the LCS, you do know that they play a patch or two behind most of the time right?

Seekêr1 votes

I agree, give nidalee her aim assist back! I'm tired of missing spears and them NOT dealing damage anyway >:C

youngjake931 votes

Nidalee and Ryze are also two champions that have over 60% win rates for people that have put in 100+ games on them. So it stands to reason that professional players are going to be playing close to their 60% win rate skill cap which makes them viable in pro play
