Why's stuff in the game (Game modes, Summoner Spells, Runes) still gated behind a level requirement?

Doesn't make any sense if you ask me.

Currently trying to level an alt and it blows ass considering I practically can't even play Jungle until I hit level 9 and I'm stuck with shitty pre-set pages that don't match the champion I want to play.

Seriously.

I remember how infuriating it was on first levels when literally everyone around you had flashes and you had cheap 450/1350 IP champion with 0 mobility and no flash. All those escapes with 10hp... goddamn it...

I just unlocked Flash earlier today.

Not even the greatest hentai I've ever watched could match the satisfaction I felt in that moment.

I don't know, why does every single game gate progress in some way, shape or form instead of unlocking everything from the get go? Answer that and you will have your answer to why Riot doesn't unlock everything

Well.

Whilst you're technically right, I'll still argue against it a little bit here.

In these other games (I'm assuming you're referring to something like an MMORPG like WoW or something), they're a lot more progression oriented, compared to a more competitive game like League.

You're supposed to grind out until you reach the highest level so you can get all of your abilities so you can do late-game content but League doesn't have that kind of progression or "late-game" content. League literally only gives you champion shards for leveling up. Nothing more, nothing less.

Plus, how the leveling system works in other games is also different.

In WoW, your level is mostly identical to the enemies you're going to fight (given you don't walk into a high-level zone) so you'll have a fair chance against enemies.

In League, you can still sit on level 2 with only Ghost and Heal and you can be matched up against a level 9 with Ignite and Flash, meaning they just have an advantage you literally cannot do anything about.

It's like placing a handicap on yourself, without you voluntarily making that decision.

If I'd have to guess, the main reason why other games have these gates is because they don't want the playerbase to reach the "late-game" content too quickly.

But since League doesn't have that late-game content, I still don't see a reason as to why it needs to have these gates.

It made sense back when level 30 was the highest you could go, but now it just feels frustrating and unnecessary.
