Not all cc is created equal

I was just thinking about this as there are a ton of stuns in this game, along side with a few displacement skills and like....2 blinds. So this is in a nut shell what I've come up with so far:

Stuns: Alistar Amumu Anivia AurelionSol Annie Ashe Bard Brand Braum Camille Ekko Fiora Gnar Irelia Kennen I'm going to stop here....there's a lot obviously.

Displacement: Alistar Blitzcrank Gnar Darius Diana LeeSin Hecarim Maokai Poppy Shyvana Skarner TahmKench Thresh Zac Ziggs Vayne not as many as stuns but still a fair bit.

Knock Up: Aatrox Alistar Blitzcrank Braum Chogath Diana Galio Gnar Hecarim JarvanIV Kalista Kled Malphite Maokai Nami Nautilus Riven Sejuani Sion Taliyah Thresh Zac Again, a lot.

Snare: Caitlyn Ivern Karma Morgana Lissandra Lux Nautilus Ryze Zyra Smaller list

Now is where we start seeing the list where only a couple have it.

Blind:

Graves Quinn Teemo

Taunt:

Ahri (effectively) Galio Rammus Shen Rakan

Silence:

Blitzcrank Chogath Soraka

Fear:

Fiddlesticks Hecarim Nocturne Urgot Shaco

Yes I know I may have missed a couple champions in certain areas, but the point is simple. Look at how few champs have blind, silence, taunt, and fear combined. Stuns alone covers far more than those 4 categories. Why are we missing out on so many other aspects of this game? Why are there so many stuns and displacement but there's hardly any of the others what so ever? Have the creators forgotten they exist? I don't believe that Fear is any worse than stun. I don't think snares are any worse than blind or silence. Why do we never see them?

Death is the best cc. Syndra has a lot of it.

Ahri has no taunt its a charm. So is RAKAN's.

The difference is that with taunting they attack you. This whole list flawed, you missed so much and got quite a lot wrong too...

Also your point doesn't make any sense.

One thing that needs to be considered is that hard cc (like fears, stuns, silences, etc.) which prevent you from taking action can be frustrating to play against, especially when a champion has several forms of hard cc. Due to this, Riot needs to be careful about how they implement and include hard cc into a champion's kit while also making it feel fair to play against. Just think of how annoying it is when you get polymorphed by a Lulu or silenced and then feared by Fiddlesticks. Hard cc feels great when you use it at the right time, but also super frustrating if you're constantly getting chain cc'ed. You have to walk a fine line with how you include it in the game.

But polymorph still allows the player to move freely, albeit slowly. It is because of that that stun is actually more effective than polymorph. Both serve the same general purpose, prevent them from attacking. But stuns don't allow one to possibly dodge an incoming skill shot like polymorph does. And fear is 50/50. Will he walk into me or away from me. Still movement you have to adjust to.

The point I was trying to get at is that hard cc can difficult to implement into a champion's kit while also keeping that champion fair to play against, so the designers need to be careful about how much hard cc they put into the game.

But my point is there is a shit ton of stuns. Stuns are no different than polymorphs and are much stronger than other softer cc like blind or silence. But yet there is a TON of stuns. Why didn't they try using different variations like fear, polymorph, or taunt? All do the same type of hard cc. Why is stun the go to hard cc? What's so hard to say while making new skills or champions...Hmm...we have 100 stuns but only 3 blinds. Blind isn't as strong as stun...but we have a shit ton of stuns. Why?

The only thing I can think of is that stuns are generic, so they match with any champion's kit. Lulu's theme works with a polymorph because she's supposed to be a fairy sorceress. Also, they probably don't want to still a polymorph onto a whole lot of kits because they want to keep it unique to her. My best guess there.

fear should be 100% that he will walk away from you. That is how it is coded.

Silences aren't hard CC.

You forgot Cassiopeia's grounded CC.

There are many forms of cc yes, and that is one of them. But why are there only 1? So many champions use stuns in this game. It's like the go to cc for our developing team.

Honestly I think it's because stuns are much more upfront in what they do and are easier to balance.

Or maybe they're easier to code. Whatever the case, stuns are the go to hard CC in the game. But the better stuns imo are the ones that need certain requirements to meet.

Like walls.

Or even Braum Skarner stuns. Most stuns in game are kinda braindead

Fear decrease your armor and mr. You can still auto with binds. There are different types of cc for balance reason.

Funkin Dunkin3 votes

That's my point that you missed. There are different types of cc that Riot has seemingly forgotten about.

robotmaster4 votes

Then your point is false. The new reworks have proven that riot do remember these types they just don't want to use them for the champ or it's not very balance.

the most unhealthy kind of CC is : 1 . lux Q-E because it slows you/snare and it enhace her next auto 2.morgana's Q 3 seconds snare wtf ^__^ 3. ashe's R it's global and it's 3 second stun

  1. Enchancing an auto attack isn't CC

Morgana Q and Ashe R are so easy to dodge. although Morgana Q hitbox is broken.

Blind is so unfun to play against, though. I'm happy that it's not more common.
