I've got to, on a non-stop relatively common basis, go through some pretty disgusting crap, and persue through it, time and time again. I would kind of like your guys' take on some of some of these scenarios, i'll list more when they come around.

1: I'm "tower diving" with J4 on a tower that has two hits left on it, and i'm becoming heavily CC'd under the tower. My team begins to retreat. (Note: I have no idea why everybody I speak to says their teammates are Soldiers of War when I complain about this, as it happens ALL THE TIME) Instinctively, I would be like hey, that guys is going to get blasted by that tower 7 or 8 times, perhaps I should do something. I mean, yeah i'm scared too, but maybe he's not going to cause an argument if I at least take an objective with me before I abandon him. (Everyone would have had to auto attack once, or the ADC twice, or an APC thrice - nobody took a shot at it)

2: Our top laner is free farming until the cows come home while his lane opponent is running wildly around the map, ganking everybody. Request upon request, upon request to join his comrades, and he refuses to. His lane opponent dealt 3.3x as much damage to enemy champions as he did. Well duh, he was static farming. And I mean, if you're really going to play a PvP strategy game, just to farm neutral creeps, at least work on taking down some objectives. I mean, fuck buddy, we really don't need you to sit there and hold the creep wave in place, WE REALLY DON'T.

3: I knew it wouldn't take long before I came up with another one. So our ADC is 'streaming'. I verified his stream, and it's actually legitimate. This guy is ADAMANTLY refusing to participate as a team, as our ADC. I mean there comes a time when no matter how much more gold you get, if you don't start winning team fights NOW, the game is over. It doesn't matter if you're 6 slotted with a Baron buff, and a red elixir. Your farm won't save shit if you don't start participating in the game. After numerous, numerous, numerous requests to rally up to team fight, this individual refused to. I mean FUCK. After the 6th or 7th time, I'm going to refuse to participate as well, FULLY WELL KNOWING THAT IT WILL CAUSE THE LOSS OF A MATCH. Because that's what it DOES.

You know I don't give these guys the benefit of a doubt, that they don't understand that their refusal to participate as a team is detrimental. I don't give them the benefit of a doubt, because they're above that. Nobody in Gold 3 is mind blown by this knowledge, they all fully well realize that their participation is required in order to stand a chance of winning, and yet they still refuse to. Anybody that has ever listened to me rant, knows that refusing to participate is my single greatest pet peeve.

Regardless of people's reasons and excuses, the proof is in the pudding - 5 people will take Baron down faster if they work together, than if 1 person was to do it by themselves. Furthermore, the faster multiple individuals work together to take down their common objective, the greater their odds of success.

Well i kinda understand the second case if he was behind on farm. Everybody acts like you are forced to follow your lane opponent if he roams, but hell, why not farm up a bit and damage/ destroy the tower.

Now the parts i dont get is if he was asked a number of times to help, but decides not to and also that he kept the wave in the same place. If he had destroyed the tower he could have pulled his guy back up to top lane to defend/counterpush. But after being ask to help, the dude should have got his shit together and helped. Its not like he has any reason to decline by not moving the wave...

sorry for long post got a little in depth there :)

EDIT: even if you dont follow your people, pinging MIA should be enough.

I realize if someone needs to farm, in order to carry.

But there's by far, a time when you need to begin participating as a team. Constantly fighting with a man disadvantage is a massive disadvantage. More often than not the opponents will always come out the victor, and a continuation of these events will certainly result in a game loss.

Although this isn't linear, the approximate odds of winning drop by 15% per player who isn't participating as a team. Assuming you start with a 50% chance to win, you can tell how quickly this becomes a problem. Now you have a 35% chance of winning with a man behind. Granted it's still possible, your allies who are defending objectives against the team with the man advantage are going to take the brunt of the assault.
