Skarner is OP no arguing with that but he seems even more op than he actually is because, I have noticed a ton of people walking up to him as if he is still a tank that does no damage and then wondering where their health went.

To put it more broadly if on a scale of 1-10 with 5 being balanced, if he was a 9, he appears to be a 10 because of this issue. I was simply pointing out my general experience.

But my point is that a little bit, a tiny fraction, of his op-ness is because people don't expect that damage from him. for example, imagine if soraka got reworked into an assassin with more damage than fizz, would you expect that damage in your first few games? no cause it is unexpected, which is exactly what I'm referring to :^)

I think you're confused. People aren't saying he is OP because they are surprised by his damage. They are saying he is OP BECAUSE of it. There is a big difference there lol.

corals1 votesHe was op because of his E, R, E burst. Since they toned that down and nerfed his base stats and over all tankiness he is certainly not op. His kit doesn't have anything borderline unbalance-able in it at any rate like darius and Lee Sin.
EDIT: Actually I think the whole E R E combo is warping his balance and I am not incredibly attached to it. I think it should be removed, the stun should go up to 1.25 seconds (still reducing the cool down by 1.25) and the cool down nerf should be reverted, plus the slight increase on his Q damage. This way he will have a bit less burst, and a bit more sustained damage, plus a bit more utility outside of ult. Just my 2 cents as a skarner main.

corals1 votesEH, I saw the nerfs go through. Been playing him both before and after. In fact I basically only play skarner. Maybe its just that I am used to Skarner being so much faster. I have a way harder time reaching important targets, I might just be playing him wrong. Perhaps I will just start peeling tanks. At any rate, his jungle zones don't exactly make him great at invading since he can't go over walls, and he has to charge them up. And outside of the jungle he feels weaker :P
