Why is fizz not disabled and why has this still been allowed for so long ?

RainbowIcee··49 votes·3,023 views

I'm pretty sure most know what i'm talking about. His stupid ult, i've seen it miss like entirely yet it jumps into the player regardless. I've seen palyers flash out of it or blink ( ez w/e is called ) and once it lands it jumps into the player. Today it missed me through the side, like missed didn't even touch me or land near me, it dissapear and appears on top of me. He has an over loaded ult with 3 effects why is it allowed to be abused this way? Even fizz players have complained about it. It missed it shouldn't have landed, yet it does just because they threw it within the vicinity.

There's no way to dodge his ult currently the player can only miss it by throwing it at a completely different direction than an enemy. This is wrong, it's AOE, Lots of dmg, Ranged, CC, and a dmg buff. Why is this not an issue that it's bugging out ?

tl;dr - New Fizz is too binary and his ultimate is the only redeeming factor keeping him from being complete trash due to how bullshit the ultimate is. Just nerfing the ultimate will kill him altogether. He needs readjustments to his power distribution across each ability rather than just nerfs or buffs.

I can see how this is a problematic situation for Riot. Take away power from his R and put it on his QWE and we're back to the Fizz instant one shot era. Put the power on his most unreliable ability and you will either have to make it reliable (bullshit attach range) or EXTREMELY powerful, which will end up leading to Fizz being able to basicly one shot people with it if he hits it.

Riot is in a bit of a bad place with Fizz right now. I honesty believe the best course of action would be to give him an actual passive.

Penns2 votes

When exactly was that instant oneshot era? Imo he is so binary and kind of unhealthy now, he actually needs a full rework more than Xin or Galio or stuff like that. He is so overloaded with counterplay that he needs these extreme numbers..

TequilaZombie2 votes

He had it in Season 3 if I'm not mistaken. After that he had a nerfed version of that which was never quite as good.

I'd say that Riot should remove some of the counterplay to make him more consistent.

Oh k, idk cause I only started playing in ~Season 4 lol.

Fizz used to be able to kill an add with eq ignite and w away.

Pommel Knight1 votes

It was for a short while when dfg was still a thing, but he wasn't the worst of them. Ahri was better and could get to 40% more dmg with her e after some buffs. Annie and syndra were also op. He could dfg w q and insta a squishy if moderately fed.

MohawkBird4 votes

So, was this just another failed rework? If they have to rely on putting a BS mechanic on something of Fizz's to make him function then there seems to be a problem here. In no world should a clearly missed skillshot be able to latch on like Fizz's currently does right now. If that is what it takes to make him viable it's really just another Riot failure at this point.

TequilaZombie2 votes

IMO, no. It wasn't a fail. It just needs some small fine tuning with numbers and a new mechanic for the attachment of his ult. This would possibly mean a buff to his QWE damage and a fix to his ult to pop up in a big ass circle, but only attach in a smaller inner ring.

LatetotheRace1 votes

You can't fine tune an RPG with a lazer sight. His kit is the lazer sight and the ult is the rpg. You could make the lazer sight bigger... but it's still a lazer sight. You could also make the RPG projectile itself smaller, but it's still an explosive deadly weapon. This is 100% an example of why frontloading everything into 1 ability spells nothing but balancing doom for that champion.

Incarceration4 votes

It was a complete fail. They tried to do something related with his theme, but his kit overall didn't match with his theme anyways.

LatetotheRace1 votes

-dumpster fizz and come back to him next season. That's what they've done with Mordekaiser and Taliyah. (still on going with morde though :/)

{quoted} Just nerfing the ultimate will kill him altogether.

I vote we nerf the ult then :^)

Incarceration2 votes

The rest of us don't want to though, because we think he's less retarded than some of the champions you play.

Gosh Darn1 votes

Doesn't change the fact that he should be disabled or hotfixed. All the rework did was make him absurdly oppressive against immobile champions with more damage than before whilst making it slightly harder to pick off enemies when they're grouped, but then again that's made up for by his ult having a massive radius and damage now. A melee champion chunking half your health with one R from the edge of your screen isn't right when he's already got 2 gapclosers on relatively low cooldowns.

I'm not disagreeing that he needs a readjustment rather than a nerf or buff, I'm just saying they need to either fix this or disable him for the moment. He's more toxic than Yasuo right now.

Kill him? Lol. He just builds LB and doesn't need jack to kill people.

Honestly, I'd prefer the old Fizz over this new one. He's even MORE unfun to play against now cause unless you have a shit ton of movement speed or flash, you can't get avoid the ult now even from a braindead player.

Requiemsfire10 votes

While I don't think Fizz himself is very OP right now he feels absolutely terrible to play against.

RavenMagus6 votes

It's not technically a bug, it's just that the attach range on max range fizz ult is very large, much larger than the hitbox on the skillshot itself, so it lands, misses you, and then immediately attaches because you're inside the pickup range (since there is no delay on it after it lands).

PlanetWarwick6 votes

The rest of the kit sucks big time

idontgiveabother8 votes

2 gap closers, one of those gap closers make you immune to everything but ignite, an ult that has a knockup and slow, his ult also has the bullshit attachment range, and if I remember correctly I think he has a shit load of damage from his w now or something like that. I dunno but it seems like a pretty damn good kit if you know how to use it.

PlanetWarwick7 votes

You will never proc your w passive Unless insanely ahead, your q and e barely do enough damage to one shot which was why old fizz was liked; he didn't always need ult for a kill if he was exist Like now he's a press r champ

In theory Janna sounds good too, shield herself for more ad, ult to heal yourself q to knock someone up, and w to slow someone So on paper she's a great agressive champ but is she?

DobbyIsAFreeElf9 votes

No offense, I fully agree with your analysis of Fizz but on paper, Janna does not sound like a super aggressive champ due to her low base health and high early mana costs. She sounds exactly like what she is; a utility mage/support.

LatetotheRace1 votes

The rest of his kit "sucking" was punishment for being so powerful and dominant for the last few seasons. Think of it as forceful unmetaing.

SwimyFish2 votes

Fizz has hardly ever been meta since his changes in Season 4, much less dominant. Especially since ad/tank Fizz top lane was killed, I haven't seen fizz be popular at all. Honestly, I would prefer a full revert back to his season 3 numbers, with higher damage and lower cooldowns on q and e, lower on hit ratio but higher burn ratio on w, and 0 bonus effects on ult besides damage and the slow/knockup.

Nameless Voice4 votes

I still don't understand why Fizz is rewarded for missing his ult with the attachment mechanic in the first place.

If anyone else misses their skillshot ult, then it misses and either does nothing, or applies its effect to wherever it lands. Why does Fizz get a second chance by allowing it to attach to players?

If he misses the ultimate, it should just throw the fish on the floor where it lands and the shark should appear there.

LatetotheRace1 votes

I would say karma or jayce, but Fizz is on a completely different scale.

Nameless Voice1 votes

Well, I'm not saying his fish should just vanish if he misses it, but rather it should target the ground where it hits instead of a champion.

Though I'd also be fine if it just got the old, tiny attach radius back, so that the enemy had to actually walk over it to pick it up, rather than it just magically snapping to the nearest enemy to where it lands.

LatetotheRace1 votes

No I agree, I was just pointing out the fact that Karma and Jayce have handicap abilities.

Nameless Voice1 votes

Hmm, I don't think so. They explode at the target location even if they miss, because they are area-effect abilities rather than single-target ones. They don't move themselves to centre the explosion around any champion inside their AoE.

Bârd4 votes

The fish jumping is intended behavior.

Bullshit, annoying, unintuitive, yes, but intended.

LatetotheRace1 votes

I mean this just could be a case of pull syndrome. Have you seen any posts about this being intended?

SwimyFish2 votes

This is very definitely intended. If you've been following the PBE at all, or at least before it stopped getting updated for Christmas, you'd have seen the PBE notes talking about the new animation they gave to his attachment on R. They talked about it being intended but unintuitive, hence the new animation that makes it more clear what is happening when the fish attaches to you, albeit not more clear WHY it is jumping on you from such a huge range.

What's sad is that the ulti was only half health. The dash arguably deals MORE damage and is auto targeted and spammable. His mobility is far more of an issue than anything else in his kit.

Gibberwatt3 votes

I'm guessing that riot made his ult this way is becasue it's his only engage if his lane opponent is playing passively. Personally, as a mage main, I can 110% dick fizz's unless they have their fish. Like, Fizz has nothing if he doesn't have his fish. Thus, I would say it should be a bit OP, since it is the only thing he's got to deal with ranged people

xxxDogmanxxx1 votes

I have no problem with Fizz's Ult attaching to champions. I just think they should just lower the attachment range. That range is bigger than the ult itself!

RexSaur1 votes

They need to revert the fizz rework, thats all.

General Theritt1 votes

Mostly because Fizz has 2 semi-joke worthy gap closers. Your Q, you main dash, is the way to jump onto an opponent with a W proc, and a sheen to add to it is insult to injury. But his ult is why you use him. Fizz is designed as the self-efficient assassin, who doesn't need to directly outplay you and rather upright kill you with his surprising burst and how hard it is to target him while he advances towards you. But see, there's a thing that you can do against Fizz to outright destroy him if you're a mage. item 3157 . Yes, his cooldown outdoes Zhonya's, but you're the mage and a priority attack, so if they land shark, zhonya, and watch it wear off, and force Fizz to reset his burst combos again as they aren't very quick, especially if it means he has to Auto, Q, and W to keep up. IF you're an ADC, screw you, you kinda deserved to be dumpstered by this character considering he's pretty damn fair and you have ridiculous ways to approach a fight, where Fizz kinda has to do the Ult > E > W proc > Q and usually blow his entire combo, and you can almost 3 shot anyone who isn't a primary tank in about 4 shots, meaning if Fizz's E is down he'll be blown up in seconds if he hasn't bought zhonya's himself.

5050BS1 votes

Its because when he throws it a low to mid range its hit box is the size of his long range ult. So the HIT box is the BIG circle even when it shows as the mid to small one.

King of Demons1 votes

His most problematic thing -> Sitting in a bush and R Q into an instant kill got nerfed.

Now he can throw a max range ult and basically do the same but it takes a little longer to happen. Yes, it looks stupid and maybe the radius could be a little smaller, but overall this was a success.

RainbowIcee1 votes

it's not a success it should give a chance to counter play. This isn't the way to make Fizz strong and viable, this is wrong. Not only is it wrong it looks wrong too, it's not smooth makes the game look clunky as shit too. I don't feel Fizz is Too op even though his ult is over loaded however give a better chance to dodge it? even fizz players themselves have complained that it doesn't feel satisfying to land it, feels like the game cheated itself into it.
