What's the point of creating a mechanic, to then remove it a few month's later

Kog Maw is my main example for this. The introduction to having 5.0 attack speed was pretty unique. However, it seemed to create a lot of troubles with snowballing and when late game hits, and having to stay in one spot made peeling either really easy due to easy projectile blocking (braum) and shielding or hard due to assassins. So when it was reverted it made me wonder what was the point of the kog maw rework? Why are mechanics getting introduced but then taken away? Rengar reworked W with removing cc, the ability to create a stack on TF's E and Caitlyn's Passive on towers, which was removed but then added again and MF's q rn on pbe. Are people actually fully testing this? Even reworked champions are getting nerfs to ratios and damages. I just don't understand the contradictions to each nerf and revert ¯_(ツ)_/¯

The answer is simple:

you don't know everything up front.

Sometimes you think something is going to turn up awesome, but you don't identify a problem that will emerge. which is what happened with kogmaw.

Sometimes you are looking to solve a champion's issue, in an effort to get rid of one of his toxic "I need this" in return. but you miss the mark because you are too locked into not changing the champion, which is what happened with rengar.

Fair enough I guess. PBE vs Live is much different and then add it with pro play, so testing ideas will be different rather than in live with a lot more people. They just really need to plan out stuff more and ask questions of what if.

My guess is they think something will be cool, implement it to the pbe, it turns out to be kind of cool, but then when it hits live and they have a substantially bigger sample size, they realize it wasn't a good idea, and revert the change.

I feel like they need more testers then. It just feels as if they just need to plan out their reworks more. I'm glad they're sticking with 3-4 champions in the class reworks rather than 6. I guess it's a slow learning process.

No matter how many testers they have, the millions on live servers will tell them more.

I just want AP Kog to be viable again. His 5.0 AS was a boring gimmick which actually took skill away from playing him and made him a scripter's paradise.
