Will there ever be a big Void event?

The Void is probably still one of the biggest mysteries out there in League lore. Hell, we haven't got a new void champ in 3 years with Rek'Sai being released. It would be amazing if there was a big event and a PvE game mode where you have to fight void hordes. I hope new void content will be released soon and I hope it's something big.

There's more to that guy than meets the eye

They will likely do a lore update just like they gave us other faction updates in the last year(so it will likely not be a full event like Bilgewater, but just a bunch of lore updates with a story).

And so far it looks like Riot updates the lores of a faction whenever a champ of said faction gets an update( Galio Yorick Warwick ) or sometimes when we get a new champ of said faction( Taliyah and Camille ) (and in the case of Targon,we got both with AurelionSol &Taric)

But from what we know, none of the void champs are currently high on the update list(Urgot and Eve will be next and there wasn't a single void champ among the Tier1-candidates),so our only hope for getting a void update this year would be if they released a void champion

EDIT:I forgot cho'gath, but I think he is such a large scope project that we won't see him anytime soon

From the lore release/update standpoint, it feels like they are hinting at the void all over the place, most notably with Targon. I think they are saving the Void for last, so we still have quite a few regions to go through before we get there - Noxus, Ionia, Bandle city/yordles, maybe a return to the Frelijord and the frozen watchers, Ithica (might be rolled into the void update since its related)

From a gamemode point, it is possible that we get a void-related gamemode if things work out. I'm imagining black market brawlers returned, but void themed (summon void minions, new void items, etc) It's unlikely, but riot has been known to get various teams working on the same theme and getting things turned out at the same time.

Inevitably, given the reason you've presented in your first sentence. As for how big remains to be seen, though I suspect it won't be nearly so large that Riot would create a new gamemode for it.

My prediction is, taking into account Riot's typical modus operandi, the event will come with a new champion, some skins, and possibly a unique login distinct from any champion. Updated lores where appropriate, to a point; Riot doesn't like doing too many stories at a single time.

I sincerely doubt the event would actually explore The Void proper, since it is a very inaccessible location to pretty much everyone from Runeterra, and even the Voidborn do not seem capable of returning to it once they have left.

Keep your non-euclidean appendages crossed.

I think they leave it like this on purpose. It allows our minds to create images of the creatures in the void that intrigue us because we truly don't know much about it/

The Void is probably my most anticipated lore update. I main Cho'Gath and I think his VGU will be shipped alongside a Void event.

They did hint at a "Great Void War" with the new Vastaya stuff. Since the Vastaya stuff will only update a handful of Ionian champs, making it not a full update, I would expect the next true update will be Noxus (cause Demacia and everything). After that, I don't see them investing in Ionia again this year, so I'd think it would ether be Bandle City or the Void. They could go the Darkin route as another Vastaya like update (considering there are so few of them) but in the end I think the Void is very likely to show up before the year is out.

I'm sure there will be eventually.

I have a something that they'll be building up to for a while. My guess is Noxus, Ionia and Bandle City lore is going to come first. I agree though, the Void needs to be a massive event with a PvE game mode.

Jax is the last Icathian and is essentially looking for someone worthy to help him cleanse it, aka the void if you read into his updated lore a bit. So I guess technically he's lumped in with those characters too.

On another note, a pve mode would be amazing.

item 3512s instead of minions!

Buffed portals though.
