So.... what exactly is the difference between Suppression and Stun?

item 3140 Gangplank Tryndamere It sure as hell isn't the fact that it can't be countered.

As far as I can tell by playing Urgot and Warwick, there's no difference between being Suppressed and being Stunned. What am I missing?

Suppression cant be lowered by tenacity. Suppression cant be summoner 1'd. Supression cant be removed with item 3222

Edit: Forgot another, you cant use any summoners what-so-ever while suppressed

Suppression can't be Mikaels'd? Are you sure?

Eedat1 votes

100% sure.

Yes, it doesn't work.

QSS is the only item that can remove it.

Suppressions don't get reduced by tenacity. Suppressions prevent summoner spell usage.

The main thing I'm aware of is that you can't cleanse (summoner spell) a suppression. I don't think you can use any summoner spells during suppression.

Suppression blocks the use of ALL summoner spells, whereas stuns only block flash and teleport

Suppressions are harder to cleanse, and they typically involve the champion actively 'holding down' the target.

Champions suppressing typically can't take many other actions. Urgot and Skarner can move, and that's about it.

Renekton's W would be a Suppress, technically, if he couldn't cancel out of it, for example.

Urgod's R2 doesn't actually suppress victims; it applies stasis.

i remember pre rework ww, im unsure if it was a glitch or not but i could qss his ult, i would still get hurt but i could walk around and stuff

Ariel the Cruel1 votes

WW's old ult was technically a targeted DoT effect. Not a bug, just a tech limitation at the time.

from what i understand or see anyways its

stun = u cant move/enemy can move

Suppression = u cant move/ enemy cant move as he stops you (example: WW ult/ Malz ult)

u can stop a stun with cleanse, qss and gp, but a supression cant be, but can anyone answer me this, whats the different between root and snare

FNF Sincrostire1 votes

Stun stops everything. Snare stops movement, you can still auto attack and cast spells.

FatedSaviour1 votes

not what i asked, i said difference betweence root and snare

What's an example of a champion that has a 'snare'?

Browsing through the wiki description of most champs that come to mind, all of them seem pretty consistently described by 'root' and it's not clear to me that a cc type called 'snare' actually exists in league.

FatedSaviour1 votes

you know what, now that you mention it, i cant specifically think of one, i swear i remember being annoyed by seeing the word snare, if i find one ill give it to you, if i was wrong it was my bad

Scarface Capone1 votes

Ryze has a snare. Lux has a snare. Morgana has a snare.

Scarface Capone1 votes

Also, there is no difference. It is all about what is being used. Example: Lux's Q is called a snare because it is a sort of cage. Zyra's E is a manifestation of plants, so it makes more sense that it would be called a root. Basically, if it surrounds you like a cage, it is a snare, and if it grips you like vines, it is a root. Logically, this applies to all forms of snares and roots, not just vines and cages.

Suppressions also need to be Channeled and during that time Champions cannot move or the CC is broken. after the Stun a champion is free to do as he pleases. (Urgot is a special case because his is an execution as well as a surpression)
