Petition to add a Resolve rune that lets tanks PROTECT towers.

People have made a huff about a certain Resolve

Demolish: Stand near an enemy tower for 4 seconds to charge a powerful attack that deals bonus damage to that tower.

With people complaining about towers being made of tissue paper already, it would be good to create a friendly counterpart to this rune that does exactly the opposite.

Fortify: Stand next to an allied tower for 4 seconds to grant it (a shield, bonus resistances, true damage immunity, or a combination of these bonuses) for x seconds.

Two runes that would let tanks make risky high-impact plays in siege situations, one for offense and one for defense. Get in the thick of an offensive siege to chunk down a tower, or put a wedge in between the enemy team and a friendly tower in crisis.


To fit this rune in the current Resolve page:

Slot 1: Perseverance, Demolish, Fortify

Slot 2: Iron Shell, Second Wind, Conditioning

Slot 3: Overgrowth, Revitalize, Font of Life

######Iron Shell is a rune that combines the current Iron Skin and Mirror Shell runes. Second Wind is moved from slot 3 to slot 2 taking Mirror Shell's place. Font of Life is moved from slot 1 to slot 3. Fortify is added to slot 1.

I love this idea. This fulfills a fantasy that nothing else in the game does, and I think the strategic niche here would be great.

I would also put forward the idea of buffing a tower's offensive might, perhaps instead of defensive bonuses. Making tower shots AoE, for instance, would decimate minion waves and be dangerous to diving opponents without needing extra numbers on defensive stats that destroy clarity.

Anyway, talking about this stuff gives Riot ideas, so keep on it. This is a good line of thinking.

The general issue with this rune is it would become 100% must pick. It has a shit load of power. Better to just make healthy changes to turrets.

You, sir, are a genius. In a game where RIOT wants to make tower killing buff after tower killing buff, you offer an option for players that breaks the mold. Why shouldn't players be able to customize their tower options in the face of so much tower killing pressure? Genius.

current armor/mr bonuses look weak

i vote we get a better one by combining them

and possibly replace conditioning for a better scaling one, could still be called conditioning though but more akin to gathering storm except with something which grants ever increasing % of armor/mr adaptive if possible

then it would be an actual choice current mirror shell is beyond useless and conditioning is kinda meh iron skin is weak but still better then conditioning since you can use it right away

there is really no choice in that part of the resolve tree

choosing between early defense strengthening towers or lategame defense would be cool

So, allow every tanky support to do the thing that was unique to Janna, and give people more reaosns to cry and whine about Janna, because she will most likely take this rune and combine it with her E.

Also, it would have been better if the rune user had to click on the turret to shield it. Imagine Braum standing next to the turret, waiting for the minions to arrive, accidentally wasting his turret shield, because he stood too close to it.

Make it a Resolve one that scales the shield based on the champions maximum health. Or perhaps instead of the shield make the tower deal bonus damage based on the champions maximum health.

i think we should also add more abilities that offer fortification to structures as well. all we have is janna's shield last i checked, but theres plenty that deals extra damage to turrets and theyre still making more

I think this is an extremely healthy design idea. Sieges require a bit more time and tactic to set up. what may have been a one wave siege now becomes two. If you are being pushed under tower in a losing lane you can keep your opponent up there for longer, hold their attention more by keeping your tower up longer.

But if you aren't able to protect your towers, like losing a teamfight or being out-rotated, then they fall just as easily as before.

I try to stay away from the echo chamber that is boards as much as possible but this is really something i can get behind. Regardless of whether or not towers are paper in their current state, this is a wonderful idea. Please riot do this.

I don't get why they want turrets to be pretty much oneshot now. Reworked Xin has extreme turret dmg, Cait can now headshot turrets, rift herald almost oneshots them, and baron buff makes waveclear impossible. They they just add more and more to take down turrets while not buffing them. Like, turrets are supposed to be something protecting your area, not just free gold for the enemy team.

I disagree. I'd rather they just balance around demolish existing. Having both would (as others have stated) cause an arms race where one or the other is OP if the opposite one isn't taken, forcing the rune onto tanks.

instead of making turrets harder to kill, make them easier to defend, something like while near a turret if X enemy champions are around the turret instantly kill minions with one shot

If the defensive bonus granted to the turret scaled from the champ's max health, I could see this being a defensive niche pick. Also, I agree that a defensive bonus option is valuable to the overall game. This is separate from altering the state of the turret's themselves. Presently, most tanks have nominal waveclear and have very few options to defend towers from sieges or team rushes. Something like what OP is expand those possibilities while remaining a niche option that is not 100% take, IMO. I like the idea.

If they made that rune they would have to increase the numbers on it and demolish so that its balanced against the other. Essentially you would just be causing more power creep in the game.

Why do we need a rune that blantantly buffs tanks just because a rune specific for split pushing, which sucks and badly needs buffs? Do the boards still not understand this basic part of the game?
