Take it with grain of salt. here is what i think about aatrox

not just from this game. but played against aatrox top a lot of times. and I can say. his early game. is probably on of the best. because of his W heal. he can go for a trade. go even. hell even lose it. and heal up really quickly. and his early damage is decent.

now what i think is the worst thing with him. not that he can't drain tank. because even mundo can't under focus fire in which you will get focus fired on if your melee in a team fight. its the fact that his damage is very low except on his W procs. I was doing. no damage as aatrox. I would letally knock up auto a squishy TF. land my slow. he blue cards me. and I still can't kill him until he pulls a second gold card and he is like. at half hp. aatrox has to proc his W active. to do any damage. he does no damage. his abilities have good damage. but he isn't a caster. they all have long cooldowns. his ultimate seems useful only for finishing off running away enemies

TLDR: I don't feel like aatrox does consistent damage. or a good amount of damage at all compared to jax tryndamere yasuo or any melee auto attackers. they all have superior damage. even with his W. i still don't think its enough damage since its physical and crit isn't good on him its just too well mitigated by squishies since he doesn't build any penetration. he quite sucks. i think the best aatrox i've seen built ap. Jax has hybrid sustained damage. tryndamere crits. yi has true damage. xin zhao has high sustained damage on Q and has armor penetration. yasuo goes well with crit. aatrox has bonus physical damage every third auto. thats pathetic.

sure I went for 2 tank items on him but i do the same on yi jax and xin zhao can literally buy 3-4 tank items and do more damage than aatrox

what a long tldr.

tldr round 2: Aatrox does not do enough damage/sustained damage and too much of it mitigated by squishies. abilities cd too high (prob cant be lower because they aren't a simple aa reset).

I'm going to read your entire thread after this comment, but please stop putting random "."s. It's super annoying.

Like some sort of OCD I guess? Read the entire post, and yeah you're right. Aatrox sacrifices so much for sustain that he's basically fuqing garbo at the moment.

maybe it is. i just put it everywhere because i never learned how to properly use it. not a native english speaker

You're not wrong in stating Aatrox has a strong early game, against most* melee champions he does extremely well. He can trade and heal up (if he's winning) and that can make him overbearing sometimes. But if he loses the early game, he is not allowed to heal or do damage, he will most likely get zoned and be unable to farm through auto's and must rely on sniping minions with his E. If his passive is popped he has to play almost 70% more passive, in some cases I prefer to blow flash rather than let my passive get popped.

Then there's the thing about his chasing ability, quite frankly if you can survive the initial combo (if he lands his Q, empowered W and E) or can escape beforehand, he has no way of catching up to you outside risky flash blows. Whilst that gives him some sort of counter-play, I believe neither Q or E have high chances to land on a cautious opponent.

For someone who's pushed into this weird fight/bruiser role, he doesn't do his job effectively. Unlike Xin he can't immediately burst someone down with his kit alone and can't stick to them like Xin. Heck, Xin actually OUTHEALS Aatrox because his healing is not win-more and provides a good, strong amount of healing throughout the entire game. Unlike Jax, he can't force disadvantageous fights with amazing scaling or defensive/dodge mechanics. Unlike Tryn, he has to use his own health to increase his 'fury' bar and cannot increase his fury through auto-attacks alone. Unlike Tryn, he also doesn't have two unique yet synergetic steroids (why he has 2 attack speed steroids I don't know... even with these two attack speed steroids, Yi still seems faster). Unlike Yi, he can't 1v5 and solo carry his team by himself even with farm and kills. As for Yasuo, I don't think it's fair to compare anyone to Yasuo lol.

Tl;dr - There's ALWAYS someone who does what Aatrox does but better. Aatrox is a fun champion but his 'theme' or 'role' needs to be more defined in order for his kit to have some sort of cohesion and impact. As an Aatrox player, I can only wait and see what Riot has in store for this champion.
