Can we chat with team mates during loading into a game.?
I mean thinking about The strategy that can be discussed depending on role champs picked and summoners is giving me a brain orgasm

As a Riven main™ I really need that extra time to order my jungler to babysit my lane and flame my teammates.
As a Thresh Main I need that extra time to explain how a Thresh lantern works.
It's a useless shield, right?
Yes, but only if you go in to 2v1 the enemy bot lane first
some thresh players need to realize that the lantern can be body blocked by unites, they be throwing in the middle of a minion wave or between a cluster of champions, nobody can click it when you do that.
As a slow computer main, I need that time to write a novel, make a movie, cook a dinner for 50 people and run for president.
name checks out
Where is Shitlord? I can't find him? Anyone seen him? Is he hanging with Waldo??
I believe this is one of those features that ranks very high (and possibly the top spot) on Riot's list of "things we'd love to do if it wouldn't completely circumvent the way our program runs".
The problem is that the Client -- what you load to buy stuff & champ select & whatnot -- is an entirely different program than the game running on your machine. Their interaction is extremely minimal, and they probably don't ever talk directly to each other. When a match starts up, the client tells the game server there's a new game of this type with these summoners playing these champs and a reference to which of the runes & masteries saved on the summoner's account are being used. Then it starts up the game program on your computer. At that point, your computer contacts the game server and asks what's going on, and hopefully it tells it the game details so it can load in. A this point--where we'd like to chat with each other--we're not yet connected to everyone yet. Your personal machine doesn't know who else it's playing with. It is of course entirely possible to build a chat circuit in there, but that would be an entirely different channel to load and most of us would rather just start playing the game sooner--given that as soon as the game loads, we instantly can chat.
Perhaps the loading screen could be minimized then, and we could keep chatting in the champ select.
But we are all already connected when chatting in the champion select - would it really be that hard to keep this chat as an overlay of sorts during the loading?
But I see your point. The chat, as of now, is part of the client (to keep it simple) - the game itself is a separate application with its own chat (the ingame chat).
But still, you can send messages across these 2 applications (PM, or Private Messaging) already, so clearly there are such features available.
However, joining these 2 chats in a streamlined and convenient way (any..."technical limitations" (toasters) aside) could be a hassle. Not that I think it can't be done if they set their minds to it.
DOTA 2 just added an update where they eliminated the loading screen between champ hero select and the game starting. The game loads in the background during hero select.
So it is possible to do things a lot better than Riot does in terms of making everyone wait for 30 seconds to a few minutes (depending on the slowest computer of the 10 players) before staring each match.
That said, I understand why they aren't prioritizing this, since it only makes up a small amount of time usually, compared to champ select and the full game.
It would be my guess that if they wanted to do this, they'd put the team on it that's currently revamping the Client. So once's that's done, maybe?
Not if u want the toasters to explode
Wouldn't that be a good thing? That way, at least they won't come back before they've come to their senses and upgraded.
are you whiling to pay for their upgrades?
Exactly League is the only game my toaster can actually semi run (medium graphics) however if i alt tab during loading there is a high chance my computer will just slow WAY down.
tip: don't alt-tab until the champion portraits appear.
i figured it out a few games into league although sometimes i forget. Does anyone know why you have to wait for the portraits to appear and does the slow down happen to everyone?
It happens to me if I alt tab before the portraits appear. Can't say why, though.
Eugh... It's not like they would be earning some poor 10$ a month from the skins, especially when ultimate skin costs nearly like CD Project Red's expansion pack.
I am not telling they have currently some budget free, since they're working on new client and also Sandbox, along with the other parts of budget going into champ design etc. Surely they must finish some things before they'll move to LOL2. But this argument, making it look like they were amateurs doing this game purely as hobby is so naive and ridiculous I like actually spitted orange juice I was drinking into my monitor.
talking about people with old rigs, not riot.
My bad, I am retarded (gosh I really need the sleep, this is second time in two days). Thought "toaser" there is supposed to mean the current game client's spaghetti code as in that Riot can't currently implement the feature (otherwise they may acidentally bug something -> make toaster explode).
If you really need the sleep (and I am starting to feel you on that), why are you still up? ^^
Lol, went to bed right after. Woke up one hour ago (2 PM at my timezone). Now I feel like I won't need a sleep another decade until another final exam will come and I'll start writing weird shit again.
Are you willing to pay for their upgrades?
Nope. I got enough with my own ~2000 USD upgrade to consider.
Intel i7-6800K HyperX Savage 64 GB DDR4 Gigabyte X99 Designare EX Seagate Enterprise Capacity 3.5" 10 TB
Plus some other bits and pieces. Samsung 960 PRO 512 GB M.2 SSD for the OS and so on. Haven't decided yet. Need something bigger than my current 840 PRO 512 GB SSD as my Games drive too...any ideas?
Anyway, if anyone can't handle the mere ~90 USD expense of a Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD (which would suit any average person's needs just fine) to boost the performance of their PCs, then they got nothing to complain about.
There is actually a better option. DOTA 2 now has the game load in the background during the champ select, so you just immediately enter the game 30 seconds after the last pick.
This would give you 30 seconds to chat before the game starts, while also making it so people with slower computers would have all of champ select to load in, rather than making everyone else wait for them to load afterwards.

(BTW I'm not a DOTA player or anything, I just read about his and think it's a cool idea that Riot should definitely do eventually)
in casuals everyone would just be discussing about dank memes, riot must add it now
thats been suggested for years rito wont add it soon.
It would need for them to rewrite the game ckient, as they did the launcher/store client. Maybe in a few years when we have the store client running at full speed with all its features.
Might even finally get Death Recap fixed then too.
no thanks. it already triggers me that i cant insta mute people in champ select let alone beeing forced to see what they talk about in summoning
Might I suggest Discord?
sees silver border yasuo "great another feeder yasuo"
Well, without this feature that message gets delayed by loading screen and appears instantly in game before champions are even all summoned, lol.
The technology just isn't here. Sorry m8 [zombie-nunu-tears]
Didn't this come up before? And every time it got thrashed due to all the toaster-owners whining on the extra performance drain this would cause?
I've been wanting this for a long time myself, and would like to see it implemented.
I'd really like that. We don't have enough time to strategize but we have plenty of time to look at the loading screen.
its either throughout the whole game or not at all why would they have it for just the loading screen? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtfyZdVbuUg
Yes this is an ideal way to discus strategy and goals for our game. upvote Gets back to reality and realise its just 5 min extra of people flaming and personal abuse downvote
Good idea!
Sounds like Dota 2's 7.00 patch.
Seems DoTA 2 has the right idea though. Ten bans, better team chat, etc.
I would personally enjoy the chance to chat more with team mates, of course there is the risk of toxicity, but then most people alt tab anyways. I'd rather have the potential time to make a plan, instead of the whole last second jungle invade strategy at level 1.
We really don't need anything else to slow down the load in times
