If Garen executes a villain he should inspire his team

Just some fun idea I had. When Urgot or Darius ults they fear nearby units (Darius only works on minions), and it really fits their identities as brutal war gods that went through a lot. So I was thinking since Garen is supposed to be this big and strong protector of the weak shouldn't him executing a target marked as a villain inspire his team? Perhaps make it so that when he sucessfully executes a villain with his ultimate all nearby allies get a temporary 2 seconds courage buff, same as Garen's w. I don't think this would be game breaking, but imo definetely a fun niche to add, what do you guys think?

Everyone in team should yell Demacia regardless of their faction

Garen's new ult execute effect should be called Inspiring Courage

Demacian Justice:

PASSIVE: The enemy with the most kills in the last 5 minutes is marked as the Villain. The mark cannot be assigned to another champion while Garen is in combat with the Villain. If more than one enemy has the same bounty, the enemy who received it first is marked as the Villain. Garen's basic attacks and each spin of Judgment.png Judgment against the Villain deal 1% of their maximum health as bonus true damage.

ACTIVE: Garen calls upon the might of Demacia to attempt to execute the target enemy champion, dealing them magic damage, converted to true damage when targeting the Villain.

If Garen executes a champion, he strengthens the resolve of all nearby allies, granting them 30% damage reduction and 30% movement speed towards enemy champions for 2 seconds but if a Villain is executed, he also grants them 30% Tenacity for 0.75 seconds.

The buff should be a bit different IMO, instead of damage reduction and tenacity he should give lifesteal/spellvamp, movement speed and tenacity, like they've really been inspired.

Make his "JUSTICE!" Quote global if he executes a champion.

I mean I hate fighting Garen, but thematically that sounds pretty interesting :P

i dont know how i feel about this.

the power of this effect is incredibly difficult to judge. its going to be extremely situational from nonexistent with no allies around on the execute, to pretty strong if everyone happens to be near you and your tank presses locket at the same time.

i really like the idea from a thematic perspective and it would be incredibly fitting.

but if it wasnt just something that they can straight up add onto his ult, and they have to remove power somewhere else to add this effect, id say no thank you.

the problem is, the villain mechanic is already pretty unrealiable right now. theyd need to rework the mechanic itself for this effect. giving up reliable power somewhere else in his kit to add another unreliable element doesnt seem very appealing.

This is an amazing suggestion, I'd love to see it added!

i like the idea behind inspiring his team but i think it would be more balanced and cooler if the team got MS instead.

some people are saying stuff like it would end up too OP, but they seem to forget that this is something that happens AFTER enemy dies, so it has barely any effect on 1vs1 or other small skirmishes; the actual buff Garen would get from this change would be his teamfighting, which he is useless at currently.

Cool idea but for god sakes we need to stop adding things to Garen XD His passive used to be max hp per second out of combat period. Q has stayed the same. W used to be a passive increase to bonus resistances from addons and items with an active damage resistance buff, that was it. E did damage over time around you, that was it. R Did a butt load of magic damage plus some missing hp damage to a single target, nice and simple.

Now it's like...

Passive increases while below a certain hp percentage, at a certain level the healing goes up, the out of combat timer goes down, and the health threshold for increased regen goes up to 50%. And at level 11 it won't deactivate when fighting non epic monsters.

Q is still the same.

W now you play a little mini game farming for bonus resistances, and the active's damage resistance is doubled for the first 0.75 seconds as well as giving him bonus tenacity.

E now the number of hits scales with level, damage increases by a third when attacking a single unit, can crit, and reduces armor after 4 hits.

Ult now passively gives judgement and basic attacks max hp true damage vs the villain and turns into a true damage execute vs them as well. (granting courge to nearby allied champions if he hills the villain, if the change was added)

Like what happened to him? His abilities were so simple and they just kept adding mechanics to him. Didn't even really make him harder to play too, his kit's just harder to explain fully. I don't really like how he just keeps getting more text in his tool tips.

I say we should remove the villain mechanic first.

StarGuardianWeeb8/1/2017, 6:31:29 PM2 votes

I like it. Old GP had some weird spell that "inspired" his comrades and they gained AS. Garen could deff "inspire" someone to stay strong and give like an AOE Damage reduce. Good idea OP.

I actually really like this idea. It gives Garen more incentive to save his ult for the Villain, gives his team a reason to care about whether or not he succeeds, and gives Garen a reason to exist beyond just being a toplane bully. This would be a fantastic direction to take Garen.
