What are some champs that don't require godlike reflexes?

Lapis··27 votes·5,155 views

I have a couple of mental issues which, among other things, affect my reaction times, making them slower than the average person. It's not generally an issue in everyday life, but its a little frustrating while playing this game sometimes in situations like "Oh, I'm about to die I should hit my Zhonya's- nope, I'm dead already." I know there's a few champs that are a bit beyond me, for example, I don't realistically see myself ever parrying a stun with Fiora's Riposte. But I was wondering if there were any champs that would be easier for me to play?

Edit: Wow, I wasn't expecting so many responses so quickly! Thank you all so much for your suggestions, I've got a whole bunch of champs to try!

Tanks are generally more forgiving because a mis step is not as likely to cost you your life

I guess you can try Warwick, following dashes by holding his Q is more predicting than Reacting...

Galio's rework should be hitting live in under about 1.5 weeks, see if you can enjoy that! He's a Tank, looks like a lot of fun to play and I think his kit should work pretty well even with a low reaction time. His W being the main thing that you might miss sometimes. His Q and E rely on you predicting your enemy's movement rather than you reacting to them, so... :P

AlienPrimate2 votes

Or try Galio before his rework. I just take 3 health regen quints and straight up ignore the enemy laner until I have my ult. Lux hit me with her full combo...oh well, I'll be full hp in a minute anyways.

Sahn Uzal4 votes

I personally avoid playing champions that are about to get reworked. I'm afraid I'm gonna feel attached to them and then they'll be gone so it'll make me sad.

So I don't recommend it either :P

JuhnChan2 votes

New Warwick is even squishier than Kog'maw in terms of raw stats. Definitely would not recommend, especially in this bursty "everything kills you in 1.58 seconds" meta.

Sahn Uzal2 votes

Warwick does not have very good base stats, but his effective health is massive because of all his healing, and Primal howl really helps him out aswel ^^

JuhnChan1 votes

In an ideal situation where he doesn't get instantly bursted down, yes. In this "everything kills everything in 1.58 seconds" meta, very often no. Especially because his basic healing doesn't kick in until he's already half dead. Get stunned once without your E on and I guarantee you will die. Sometimes it's hard for me to activate it in time. I don't expect our friend Lapis would be able to. Conditional tankiness, when in slow hands, may as well not be tankiness at all in this case.

Qukslice1 votes

Early game that might be the case but I find when you build him semi-tanky he can become very tanky mid to late game ish. Of course, not fed sion levels of tank, but tanky enough to withstand a couple champs worth of damage.

Heimerdinger is basically the pinnacle of letting the guy take care of himself - just drop your turrets and let them do the stuff. Otherwise, maybe tryndamere, as he is basically a right click and wait champion. xin zhou would probably be good too, but not quite as much as the others.

Fondling Gems7 votes

Definitely not trynd if reaction times are the issue. Personally my reactions times are not great if well within the range of normal. I am a terrible Tryndamere player because I can't clutch ult. Reaction time is everything on a champion that has to use an ability that is the difference between life and death.

Singed - Singed doesn't need Flash, which is pretty big. The majority of his play is macro. He needs to know where people on the enemy team are, how to kite, and even has a bunch of small mechanical pieces of mastery. But fast reaction time is definitely not one of them. His Q's a toggle, and his ult has such a low immediate impact and low duration that being off by half a second (or even a couple seconds lol) isn't a huge problem most of the time.

Zac - For a jungler, Zac doesn't need great reaction times. His E takes significant time to charge up, and you can't adjust your aim after you launch, so it's more about planning 1-2 seconds in advance. His Q and W are small enough impact that you don't have to worry about quick casts of them. You can reactively Flash+R in certain situations, but you use it offensively after a good E 95% of the time, so it's not a huge problem to worry about.

Here you can have my main. You dont even need to aim skills to be good at her

Keevalroy4 votes

It's a bit difficult to gauge the severity of this condition through text alone, but it sounds like you want champs who don't really have a lot of mechanical intensity or rapid alternating button clicking involved, where on the other hand, rapid clicking like spamming Eve Q would be okay? Regardless, I just put a quick list together of champs I personally view as mechanically mild.

Sion requires god-like mechanics and reaction time

Keevalroy1 votes

Riiiight, and there's more to Kalista than building Hurricane and shift clicking the ground pretending she requires immaculate precision. Suuuure.

Spoofghoul2 votes

lol someone here hasn't played sion beyond the basics i see

i guess you haven't ever jumped walls with his ulti?

I could make a list 10 pages long of mechanical shit you can do with sion

Flashy =/= skillcap

People mistake flashy plays for something which requires mechanical skill which is incorrect half the ''flashy'' champs are easy mode and not much harder then garen to play

Golden Tager X2 votes

But 95% of playing Yi is dodging with q, and that is a mix of both reaction time and prediction. So I don't see what he is doing here.

Melledoneus1 votes

If you're implying Shen is an easy champion to play, you either have not played him at all or are heavily biased against ninjas in blue whose biceps are twice the man you'll ever be.

Sp33d Zer04 votes

Top lane: Garen Darius Malphite Maokai (although maokai CAN be much better if you can dodge with his w since it takes you out of frame)Jax Nasus Nautilus Singed Trundle MonkeyKing Tryndamere Kennen

Jungle: Amumu MasterYi Rammus Nunu TryndamereZac are the PREMIER ones in my mind for this, but a lot of otherse can still work

Mid:Annie Corki Heimerdinger Karthus Kennen Lux and MAYBE my favorite mid, Ziggs. Ziggs and lux are a little on the higher reaction time to be most effective.

(Disclaimer, I think support and adc are really bad roles for this as adc's need to kite a lot which is a LOT of reacting, and supports need to react to a number of different things, depending on if they are tanks, mages, or enchanters, esepcially when you think about some of the items that are key on them such as item 3190 item 3069 item 3401 ) ADC: Ashe Caitlyn MissFortune Tristana

Support:Alistar Leona Sona Zyra

I hope this list helps! This is all my personal opinion. There are champions on here that are certainly STRONGER with good reaction times, due to disengages, hard cc, or the ability to be untargetable, but I feel this is THE best line up. Ultimately, I would suggest playing tanks, such as tank top lanes, or tank jungles as they get punished the LEAST hard for a bad reaction time.

edit: One thing that I want to suggest, is think about what you want to do before it actually happens. Ex: I recently played against a lux and was running away from her. I knew her root was coming up, so instead of reacting to it, I said to myself "When she starts the animation for it, I am going to walk straight down". This makes it so you aren't reacting with a thought, just an action.

Fondling Gems2 votes

I would actually not recommend Alistar. If you are out of range and try to W>Q you just Q and are mostly useless. If you are clearly in range it is fine but if you are on the edge you need to react to starting to W.

Instead of Alistar I would put Nautilus if he wants to support. As someone who plays with game knowledge rather than with mechanics and who has over 100k mastery on Nautilus I would definitely recommend him for this situation.

sirwaterfles1 votes

MasterYi the break or make thing of a good yi is just his quick reactionspeed on his q . easy champ is not the same as quick reactions. Alistar is the same. Quick reaction to knock away the gapcloser of the assassin is key for a good ali.

Sp33d Zer01 votes

Like I said, there are some champions that ARE better with good reaction times, but you do not NEED to be able to frame perfect dodge shit with Yi to be effective.

Also, if you notice my disclaimer, I flat out stated I suggested avoiding the support and adc roles if you have bad reaction times.

sirwaterfles1 votes

But if for example their only hard cc source is a morgana,lux,zyra,.... and she always saves her q for you then being able to dodge it can very easy make of break entire teamfights even games while nautalis or malphite need almost no reactionspeed. And i read the disclaimer and its true that you need quick responses as a sup or adc because their are 3 other people in lane to keep track of but if you going to recommend sup champs then ali doesnt belong since naut or leo need way less reactionspeed.

Morgana

Lapis12 votes

{quoted}

Morgana

Morgana is actually a champion I play fairly often, and I do generally do well with her, but she's not really a champion I'm looking for here because of her spellshield. Blocking things like a Blitzcrank hook takes some pretty good reflexes.

Melledoneus4 votes

Swain This guys takes aim and positioning, but everything else about him is easy mode.

sirwaterfles1 votes

[{quoted}]Oh, I'm about to die I should hit my Zhonya's- nope, I'm dead already.

Using Zhonyas is kind of a big thing on swain but otherwise he is indeed a good candidate. I would say volibear is ideal for having slow reactionspeed.

Melledoneus1 votes

Pressing a button when you feel like healing and dropping aggro isn't hard.

sirwaterfles1 votes

No but you have to be quick about it when you want to dodge the big damage/cc and you want to do it fairly early most of the time because if you are mostlikely zhoniassing in the middle of the fight and if you do it to late and you get oneshotted by some random aoe when you come out. But yes its not that much and he is a good candidate. My example for volibear was terrible now i think about it. you need really fast reactionspeed to use his q to cancel their dashes/jumps and to flip them the right direction also his bite needs to be fast. Naut and malp are perfect i have come to realise but swain is indeed a good candidate.

Melledoneus1 votes

Swain is usually tanky enough to weather quite a few blows before he's low, and Volibear isn't bad. He doesn't take reflexes but he does take experience if you don't want to be kited.

sirwaterfles1 votes

Thought that to about voli until i remembered when i used to be good with him before feral flare ruined tank jugnlers the amount of dashes and jumps like kza or tris being the easier ones i could cancel with his q and how succesfuller his ganks were compaired to when i try him now. While with naut that i play a lot now or malp i dont need any quick reactions and just need gameknowledge.

Aldapsayar3 votes

I main support so I will advice you what I found to on supportrope.

Support Brand. Immobile and all about right positioning. Teamfight badass.

Bard - his main strength is game knowledge. And has gorgeous gameplay.

Tahm Kench, he is tank and fun af.

Blitzcrank. Simple. Doesn't actually require quick reaction. He is more about prediction.

Janna - much more fun than people think.

Soraka - ever heard of lane bully Raka? If u play her aggressively she is hella fun

sirwaterfles1 votes

Jana is all about quick reactions.

Duke Anax1 votes

So is Soraka, especially if you wanna play her lane bully.

sirwaterfles1 votes

Y was thinking that to, especially her ulti, but dont play her enough to be sure.

Duke Anax1 votes

yeah her ulti is real fickle, use it to early and you heal for less, use it too late and you won't heal at all.

Sir Wisp3 votes

Heimerdinger (but is super anti-fun for whoever you are laning against) is a good one. So is Xin Zhao, Singed, Shyvana, maybe Warwick, Swain, and Pantheon. Those are mine! Hope you enjoy!

boo9103 votes

probs warwick

hes not hard to play

and his lifesteal gives him tankiness

or lux

you would be surprised how many people cant dodge her ult or q

Maximum Morde2 votes

Tryndamere. Annie. Fiddlesticks. Any Juggernaut. Any tank. Caitlyn. Jhin. Plenty more examples, those just came to mind first. I'm in the same boat as you. My reaction speed isn't what it used to be thanks to damage done to my hands/wrists in accident 15 years ago.

Ravenhale2 votes

Doesn't Caitlyn require you to be able to instantly place a trap beneath a CCed target. Like you have to immediately W, AA, E (net), AA to make the most of her damage?

Maximum Morde5 votes

To achieve maximum, sure, but you do not need it. Simply spreading them over the lane and pushing turrets down is very high reward and wins matches just fine. I'm not suggesting get master like that, but as far as adcs go, she's one of the least twitchy.

yoshi27906 votes

As an Annie main,

I must tell you her only thing is reflexes.

You have to know your range, and once you see your enemy make the slightest mistake INSTANTLY blow them up. which you can't without great reflexes...

Very Hard Engage2 votes

Annie Amumu Darius DrMundo Fiddlesticks Hecarim Jax Nunu Nocturne Pantheon Rammus Tryndamere Udyr Volibear Garen

these are "macro" oriented champions, they dont need good aim or anything fancy pants mechanical skill, but you are rewarded through synergy with your team and proper map positioning. not saying they dont take skill, but anyone can master their mechanics.

Around999People3 votes

As an old trynd and Noct main I have to say timing is everything on them. If you get your spell shield or ult wrong you die and even half a second can make that difference in if you get a double kill or die. I suggest trying them but they're harder then they seem

xScarfy2 votes

I guess Udyr would be a good choice, as his kit doesn't seem to be more then “rightclick and switch between stances“

The Ecdysiast2 votes

Darius.

He's the epitome of ease + effectiveness. There is literally no other champion in the game with the ease of Darius who can also be effective well into Diamond.

His large AoE abilities and incredible safe + powerful style are great for players like yourself, or even just players who don't have good reflexes in general.

Though it varies from role to role, the easiest option in the game is to pick Darius at top. Other roles require quick reaction more often than top, since top laners are generally slow to get rolling.

Mighty Mortein1 votes

Malzahar, if he wasn't semi useless after his nerfs. I mained him for a bit because he was simple. E, Q, W, R and your target was dead. Was a good anti-assassin with a lot of DPS. Was super fun before he got changed.

PaeanAsklepios1 votes

Mighty Mortein2 votes

Beyond me. Nothing was a lie. He was a simple to pick up, semi hard to master champion for the mid lane (or top lane) who could farm well, play safe and was an anti-assassin, lockdown god.
