If Riot is Going to Ban Players for Not Supporting "Properly"

The Yetii Rider··3 votes·581 views

Then they should dedicate an entire patch to making the support role more fun. Not items, not champions. Those have both been touched time and again and people still hate supporting.

Give us more XP. Give us more MS. Give us more gold for assists. Give us more safety when we roam. Give us assist call outs.

Don't rage at a guy who is willing to play support for thousands of games when you have to implement auto fill because 70% of your playerbase isn't willing to support in one.

The dude wasn't supporting though...why is everyone fixated on that single, false fact?

He was actively stealing camps from both sides of the jungle and leaving his adc to 1v2 for the entirety of the game. He'd never group and he was basically a second jungler, there was literally no aspect of his playstyle that could classify him as a "support" so why do players wonder why he was banned?

Well, the guy wanted to double jungle and the Support role is the most responsible role to queue up as if you want to duo jungle. It's the only one that doesn't leave a lane entirely empty. It also happens to just make the queue times a lot faster. His point is that double jungle can work (I assume his win rate was not less than 40%), but there is no way for you to do it besides picking support.

Most adc's don't know how to play without a support there holding their hand though. (I'm Silver btw so it's probably not the best perspective), but I can't even go to tri bush to put a pink most times without the ADC getting himself killed because he doesn't play appropriately (same with bard chime missions).

Yes yes, there is a time and place for everything. however, the adc should be able to step back if you have to do part of your job (which most people call supports ward bots so they have to ward ya know?)

the problem with double jungle is that roles are one of the few parts of the meta that riot actually enforces. If you want to double jungle, do it with a 5-man premade that is willing because there are not two jungle positions. It's not an actual aspect of the game that riot has incorporated, therefor it is not something they allow. Nor should they, because it is not a part of the game that players (enemies and the dude's teammates) have signed up/agreed to participate in. Win rate isn't a factor here when he's forcing players to play a game by different rules then they signed up for.

1 top, 1 jungle, 1 mid, 1 adc, 1 support

it's like the only part of the game relating to meta that Riot actually truly enforces.

I mean I get it especially since it's what Riot does want in their game (their choice), but I don't really agree with the 'the players didn't sign up for it' line of thought. There's a lot of things a player does or doesn't sign up for though. Like playing with a Teemo, or playing with someone that anyone feels is weak atm, or whatever.

Like you sign up to play a team game, eventually there's a point that you're trying to mesh 5 people with probably 5 different play styles and that's 5 people who didn't sign up to play like the other 4 styles. Eventually, you just signed up to work together.

Not that I"m saying I want a double jungle or whatever. I was just trying to elaborate, and I know as a support main. I never sign up to play a game where the adc constantly forces me to be super aggressive when he's 4k gold down because Ezreal into Jhin isn't a lane you should be aggressive in but that Ezreal man... wants to go in hard all the time. Just an example.

the way I meant it as a "it's not what they signed up for" was more like a:

each player signs up to a game under the conditions that there will be 1 player for each role and that each player will attempt to fulfill the general conditions that the role is specified for.

pretty vague right? I mean, you could twist all you want and somehow word-play that shit into like...saying AP Renekton Support being a legitimate, unreportable thing. And I'd agree with you, something like that would be completely ok (although it would still be hated for good reason) so long as you fullfill the requirements of your role

that does not include ignoring your roll as a support (aka being there for your lane partner adc in the bot lane) to fullfill the conditions of another role just because you want to. A support is a support, and if you sign up for a support you had better be supporting. If you wanted to jungle, sign up for jungle. If you wanted to double jungle, find a team of players that are alright with that because it is not a sanctioned strategy by Riot.

and if anyone tries to argue about roaming supports such as Bard, he still has lane presence and should be leaving lane to collect chimes at safe periods of time, not just abandoning your adc for the entire laning phase while stealing camps from his jungler and never helping the team beyond split pushing.

Yeah, personally, I agree. The game is balanced around Top/Jungle/Mid/Adc/Support (mainly being in bot lane). Outside of that you're better off having a sizeable team on your side. If not 5s, make sure the adc is on your team and ok with it.

Sigh, I am a support main. What he does, is not even remotely considered supporting. He's a flat out troll trying to use the excuse of a non-meta pick champion to escape punishment. I enjoy support. I can play ap support or tank support. Just as long as you WARD properly and stick with your adc. Or at least inform your adc that you will brief roam to help out another lane and then come back. That sing guys was just playing double jungle.

And my point is that you can't aggressively enforce this meta of warding, 2v2 and peeling for another player when people are so incredibly disinterested in it. If riot wants to force people to play support in the specific way the meta pushes it towards, then it's on Riot to change the system so more people actually enjoy that play style.

supp is boring as hell and gets all the blame for a loss no matter what it is

Exta5y2 votes

lol, look at my win rate. I enjoy it and never get blamed. Support is not for everyone same thing goes for every other position. Support players have to have the greatest map vision and understand which routes an enemy jungler or midlaner might take to gank bot. Damn we even have to make sure to avoid getting tp from top lane. As a support main, one dictates the speed of the game. One has to poke the enemy and deny him cs w/o getting caught out or taking too much dmg. Its being strategic. While you harass, your adc gets more farm. This also allows your jungler and midlaner more freedom to roam, bc you will draw attention to your lane. So expect to get camped. Thats when knowing how to ward comes into play. Understand how the enemy jungler or midlaner works. They will come bot and try and gank you. This gives one of your lanes freedom to farm more cs or take a tower. This gives your jungler and opportunity to gank a losing lane or invade the enemy jungle. Its about being smart. One also has to babysit ones adc, bc they tend to over extend and get greedy. You also have to know when to back to base. So if you dont like planning ahead and trying to be 2 steps ahead of the enemy then dont play this role. If you just want to pew pew pick another lane

He wasn't playing support. He was trying to be a second jungler. But yes Riot does need to focus on making support more popular.

I think they should focus on banning more Toxic Adc's. For me that is what makes support so awful. . .

khorney2 votes

its the whole team thats toxic not just the adclol it doesnt matter if top and mid feed like 0 and 7 its still your fault for picking janna or nami instead of braum or naut or something.

khorney1 votes

lol its more like 90% of the player base
