When you guys rework Shen, can you give him a little more...depth?

I don't enjoy playing champions that are boring/skilless/are unable to make plays (Nunu and Shen to name a few, especially Jax in the "no skill required" zone.) I like playing champions that are able to do things, that can bend the fate of the game if they are played at their maximum potential. And while Shen can do that...it's just so rare and so tied to his ult.

Compare the mechanics and depth of Shen's spells, to champions like Azir and Zed. His spells are just so boring and not only leave little room for counterplay, but also give you no way to distinguish yourself from a bad Shen. Shen is just Shen. Same with Vladimir. You can't tell a good Vlad from a bad one. Meanwhile you know a great Zed when you see one. You know a great Azir. You know a great Gnar. Currently the only really mechanically skillful part of Shen's kit is his dash, and even then, it's so limited that you might just use it to block a Caitlyn ult for your teammate now and again and that's about all the flexibility in its mechanics that you can get.

I really like Shen. I like his aesthetics, voice, lore, theme; all of it. I love his ult. Just the rest of his kit is so outdated and boring. He just doesn't feel like a champion in the 2015 Season 5 League of Legends. He needs depth; as do Nunu and the other low-mechanic, low-skill champions.

Now I'm not saying it's a bad thing to have "easy" champions, but it gets bad when their kits are so simple and so ineffective that you can't even distinguish the good players from the bad ones.

Shen is the only low-skill champion I wish I could get myself to play, but he's just so boring and easy and his playmaking is so limited outside of his ultimate that it just makes me sick to play him as opposed to playing Zed, Azir, Yasuo, Talon...

So when his rework comes along, please try to make him...not more "complex," not more "difficult" but just...deeper.

My friend, you don't know Shen when you think he is a champ that involves no skill.

Granted during team fight he is completely reduced into the question of "can you land a 5 man taunt or not?". However in other cases, I would disagree on the claim of him being a boring champ.

A seemingly straight forward kit doesn't mean he is low skill or less interesting to play around with imo.

Overloaded kit doesn't make a champ more interesting, it only for the most part, make the champ either more OP, hideous to balance properly or to simply play against. I am not a player who enjoys fighting an opponent who is lagging, same reason I would never touch an overloaded champ.

This is my opinion.

I agree with you on most points because you pretty much re-iterated most of what I said except for Shen's skill level and thinking that I'm suggesting to overload his kit. I only said to give him more depth/options/ways to display skill level. How does that mean he would be getting too strong or have his kit overloaded? Overloaded kit = Jax, Gnar, etc.

He already has enough options to get around his daily routines really, his only problem lies in his energy cost, but other than that he is a fine champ with quite a few things at his disposal and are open to be used in a few ways depending on what he needs.

His Q can be used in trades and last hitting. His W can be used in trades, it's an anti-poke and useful for escaping (blocking ignites and whatever while running away). His E is an engage, a disengage and a map traversing tool. His ulti is the most versatile of them all, it's a global pressure just by having it off cd, it's a teleport, an arse saver, a teamfight assistance, an initiator, a surprise attack measure and ofc, an escaping depending on circumstances.

I say his kit is indeed quite versatile, it's just depending on how you use him and on what problem he is currently running into.

SEKAI, I would like it if you looked at my Shen Rework thread. You have a great understanding of the champion and I would appreciate your input.
