Keep Butcher's Bridge after the event, merge it with ARAM queue, 50% to play on it or Howling Abyss

There. Now we don't need to have entirely new queues for the same exact game mode just because there's a different map.

It's just a skin, isn't it?

When you queue for ARAM, make the map skin chance based. 50% chance for HA and 50% chance for BB.

This gives more incentive to work on the maps, since they will be permanent rather than temporary, and allow us to enjoy content for a longer period of time instead of this temporary "put our game on life support" design that Riot seems to enjoy (game modes, and now map skins.)

The other option would be to have a seasonal rotation. Spring-summer in Bilgewater and fall-winter in the Freljord.

That would be cool. I think I would play ARAM more often if the 2 maps rotated or were randomly selected. Also, if it is not possible to just swap the maps, how about a twist on Bilgewater map. Ditch the nexii, make the enemy towers by your base, start with super minions and you need to siege through all enemy towers to reach mid. Then 2 possible ways you could continue the game: 1) obtain a flag or something and goal is to reach enemy fountain 2) single death elimination fight your enemies -- if you are faster to mid, you might still have friendly towers on their side to help you, but you probably paid the price by having champs that are better at killing towers than killing champions.

If it works just as well, great. That's cool. Let's do it. If it doesn't...

I play on a potato (A very fine potato, but a potato nonetheless) and, back a few seasons the Winter SR map would tank that potato like a KV-4. I literally could not play during the winter because it would drop the framerate to unplayable levels and give me a full-second delay. I crippled the 3 teams I played with then because I was unable to play remotely close to my actual skill level.

Well, I do believe we should give them some credit, they do a lot to pacify the needs of its players. I think they do a lot more than I've seen any other company to be on a personal level and answer to quite of bit of the requests we make. With that said, I do understand where you are coming from, and sadly I don't know if they will do it, either. Here's to hoping, though! I agree with your idea. I REALLY love the new map (partly because it's something new), but I also wouldn't wanna throw away HA. I think your idea, or the seasonal one would be awesome. Ashe Gangplank

People went out of their way at Riot to design a new map for ARAM and create us a new Event to enjoy, and people are complaining that they're not doing enough.

Riot didn't have to make and release to us a new map skin, and the funny thing is that the community has been begging for map skins for a long time now.

People are also still complaining that the event isn't enough, even though Riot more than enough foreshadowed there was going to be more stuff.

Stop complaining and be glad Riot actually made a map skin, which the community has wanted for so long now and are trying to keep the game interesting with new events, champions, promotions, etc. Meanwhile some other games in the world are rarely updated while still maintaining a fair playerbase, the companies just don't do anything. So be glad that Riot isn't one of those and is doing stuff to keep the game fresh and interesting. Even if Butcher's Bridge lasts only for a few weeks.

But why even make it that good if its only for a week? Why would Riot pay their workers to make such a good skin for the map if they are just going to remove it a week later, maybe to return in the future?

All the OP is saying is to make good use of this. The gameplay does not change in any way due to map skin, so lets keep it and put it in a map rotation. 50% Howling Abyss. 50% Butchers Bridge. Or a vote in select as people have suggested.

We are mostly scared that Riot will just file this skin after the event and leave it to be forgotten.

Why make Ascension and then not have it permanent? It is for a special event. That wasn't even a skin, it was a different map of Crystal Scar.

You are scared it will be forgotten? Seems more like you are scared of your attachment to a map, which you haven't even played on (at least on live), will be taken away from you. Not every map or skin is permanent.

Then why even make the map at all?! Why go to all that effort to make a map skin that detailed when they could have easily just make a picture of some pirates and a bridge? I would much rather them not give us a map skin at all than be teased with it for a week only to have it deleted.

i just cant see a reason to trash an entire map (or just put it back in the drawer) after making it and making us use it. they might as well do that. HA is awesome but is getting kinda old, i would honestly play a lot more ARAM and more league in general if they made it permanent!

I was going to make a thread saying this. I'm glad I checked first.

It's a simple but effective solution that no one can be 100% upset with. Even if they like howling abyss better it will still be there so there is no need for anyone to be upset.

It's so disappointing that it's just a reskin instead of an actually different map.

I wish they'd gone for an All Random Dominion map, hectic and with more capture points.

That seems a lot more bilgewater, sprawling and chaotic back alleys, than the grand bridge.

Not that the bridge isn't really cool in and of itself, but it being just a reskin is really disappointing.

It's not even a new gamemode.

Not as a permanent gamemode, but for a oneoff event I'd rather have an actual new map, even if it's just a different layout for an existing gamemode and not an entirely new one.

Making a reskinned murder bridge isn't really as interesting, since it'll still just be regular ARAM... but with pirates.

Keeping on both and having it vary a bit sounds like a good idea though.

But I'm still disappointed that they didn't do anything new with the map itself.

Or have one map with summoner spell summoner 32 and one without. I would personally love it if Butcher's Bridge had some other features about it that made it not a remake of a map, but a whole new game mode with the same structure of another map. this way they could have either queues.

At the end of the announcement it mentions they're exploring post-event options. My guess would be that they intend to sell it so you can use it again in the future.

Map skins are not nearly as interchangeable as champion skins. Map skins are, by all means, a completely different map. Buying a map "skin" would be the same as buying a new map, thus splintering the playerbase.
