Do Not Watch This or Read This Post: 4% higher winrate renekton than high elo players, new build
Season 7 - 57% winrate renekton; preseason - 49% winrate renekton vs 47% winrate high elo renekton with tp Some of the lovely comments and encouragement I've gotten this preseason: "Retarded renekton" "noob renekton doesn't tp" (yeah, lemme tp into what will be a 2v4 by the time i get there when I told you not to fight; my bad lol) "trash toplaner" "garbage renekton" "stay bronze" "watch the map retard" "you tell us to group, then you split? hypocrite" (cuz I'm pulling 3 people to stop me; if you group, 4 weak teammates should be able to 4v2 better than if you split; if I group, it's 5v5 and you get deleted - we've tried that several times)
Ok, so now that you've been warned, let's break down some play from the video. Times will be based on time in VIDEO not time in actual match - in case you just want to jump around to different sections.
15 sec - kennen "caught out". If shen flashes MAYBE they get kill; he didn't, so team should just back. Do not tank 2 tower shots this close to minion spawn time like sivir or it puts you far behind in laning tempo and you can easily be abused by good players.
3:45 - know your opponent's damage. Yasuo should just wait at tower and miss all of 1 cs to prevent me killing him. The wave will push to him guaranteed. Staying up that far gives me the chance to delete him in one combo; we've traded enough in lane at this point he should know that.
6:30 - having won a trade, I have yasuo trapped in a ring-around-the-rosey; my jungler is WATCHING THE MAP and decides to head over to help after finishing his camp. This is good - too many junglers would just run to next camp to farm in name of efficiency. I can now get deep wards down and take scuttle because I know yasuo can't tp back to lane and shove to my tower before I get back from buying.
8:00 - lane trade. Yasuo and kennen trade, which CAN be beneficial, since both were losing lanes. I have no mr built up and kennen bullies renekton early due to ranged advantage. Also yasuo has enough mobility he should be able to dodge out on some of orianna's damage.
9:30 - orianna overstays. She just survived a gank by kennen thanks to beautiful shen ult, but now she's staying at 1/3 hp and no mana. Just back. Kayn comes top to help get first tower; whenever you get a 1v0 lane, either look to follow your laner who left or push tower asap to punish them for roaming. They miss out on a ton of cs and lose a tower. This is exactly what morg and jhin do bot. They can't rotate in time to save mid, so they trade for bot tower - making the best of the situation.
13:10 - risky decisions. Team starts drag knowing they are 3v4. We aren't ahead anywhere near enough to be tanking dragon and forcing a 3v4. If they wait 10 seconds, orianna and I can be there and the enemy gets aced (minus kennen who is top) for contesting. Be smart about when and how to push your lead - don't give your opponent easy ways back into the game like a 4v3 (for them) dragon contest.
15:15 - rotate please. I tell orianna to rotate TOP to get tower with the giant wave I am pushing. She ignores and stays solo pushing mid. There aren't enough minions there to force inhib tower as the wave she's pushing there will die before I get there and there isn't another wave close enough. Because she stays mid with... almost no mana (seeing a trend here?), she dies 1v1. But it's even worse than that because we don't know where twitch is and she could be pushing 1v2 for all she knows. Just do the smart play and rotate - instead of feeding my yasuo more... after I had put him so behind.
18:00 - overstay. Team is bot in a potential 3v5 scenario. Their wards tell them they are being collapsed on. Orianna again has basically no mana. Just leave.
20:00 - rotations please. Morgana and jhin are overextended mid and I've recently pushed in top. Having nothing I need to IMMEDIATELY be doing top, I rotate mid to cut them off and net my team an easy kill, morg's flash, and dragon. We could waste time chasing a feeding twitch or... we could force the enemy to come to us at dragon. My team chased and it cost them; however, I rotate back and turn it around with kayn - allowing us to 2v3 force dragon. Just going dragon could have netted us free objective or objective and probably a 4 for 1 teamfight. Due to forcing the enemy to base, having 3 lanes where they have to clear minions, and blowing most of their flashes; we can force baron.
24:24 - more greedy play. Orianna should be top, so we can 4-1 splitpush and exploit my tp. Nobody on their team can 1v1 me, which gives us free bot push while team could 4v4 push in top safely. Leaving team 3v4 top puts them at risk of getting aced before I can tp there; we've already seen it in previous fights. And jhin is a free kill waiting to happen for trying to 1v1 me bot. I'm just waiting for the right time to dive him and either kill or force him to base and grab a free tower. So orianna being in bot jg gains us nothing bot and puts us at major risk top all for... stealing an un-needed red buff. Don't believe me?
25:15 - a closer look. While I dive jhin bot and force him off tower (which I could have done just fine without ori), the other team sees orianna bot and forces a 4v3 engage top. A nice yasuo q and kennen ult combo deletes kayn and then morg (she actually did great all things considered) deletes sivir. I tp to try to turn the fight. Because I can't catch yasuo, I turn and burst morg (crit damage is unexpected by her). Thanks to shen protecting yasuo from clearing minions, we would have gotten top tower. Orianna is meanwhile able to get bot tower; however, she cost 2 teammates their lives and NEARLY wasted our baron by ignoring team and going bot for no reason. If the match had been closer, we'd have lost 3 top, be unable to force bot inhib tower (without ending up 2v5 and dying for it), and have wasted baron push -- all so orianna could ignore her team and grab a red buff.
I definitely wasn't close to perfect this game - except in kda - but, I did my best to play the map and maximize gains for my TEAM without taking stupidly risky plays. If you read this whole thing, hopefully you learned a few things and know how to better use objectives, pushing minion waves, and rotations to gain more without putting yourself at unnecessary risks. Thanks for stopping by, and good luck out there summoner. [poppy-wink]
