When a person does a non-standard build - do not assume it is troll or bad and flame them. Builds are flexible - just like champions. Some are better suited to one purpose while others to a different purpose. If there were no ap champs on the enemy team, would you flame malphite for not building spiriit visage/abyssal mask or some other mr item? No. So don't presume to know it all.

It's not your teammates' job(s) to shore up weaknesses you create by locking in some odd champ. Just because someone is toplane or jg doesn't mean they should have to be the sole frontline champ for your team. And if they are, then it's not their fault if you are losing fights because you all die in 1.5 sec to start the fight; it's your fault for not winning lane and snowballing with the comp you picked that NEEDS to build a lead early. If you fed and deal 0 meaningful damage to the enemy frontline, it's not your toplaner's fault - it's yours. If he builds damage - because you have none - you have no right to flame him for doing so.

If you just lost a teamfight, do not force another engage the second you respawn - the exception being to defend your base. Give up dragon or baron and don't go running into your jungle blind as 4 squishies all separate from each other facechecking everything. Doing so and then dying can cost the game. If you do that though, again, it isn't your toplaner's fault for going top to clear a large minion wave to protect top inhib tower and to ward baron so you can contest. If he pinged you back and you still engaged 3v5 or 4v5 cuz you NEEDED that dragon, it's on you for dying. He didn't lose you that fight - him coming would have just given the other team an ace. Instead of flaming him, try listening and making better decisions next time.

If you criticize a teammate and blame them for everything, don't be surprised if they eventually snap back at you. So their build is non-standard - who cares if it's getting the job done. And if it's not, is it because of THEM or because their team isn't doing their job? Chances are, if the guy is tanking 3 people every teamfight and is still the last to die, it's the team's fault - not his. If you complain he never groups, yet he's there for every teamfight - you are being an idiot. He's not toxic for saying as much - considering you spent the last 20 min flaming his build, his kda (your's is worse btw and you weren't 1v2 all of laning phase vs an ignite riven and a sejuani), and complaining he never groups even though he's peeling the enemy adc, sup, and mid every fight. Instead of asking what more your toplaner can do for you; ask what you can do for your toplaner because he's done more for the team than anyone else.

Pardon the very specific nature of some of this, but the generals apply to all lanes and jungle. If your teammate is going even while being camped and you never once help him, don't blame him for poor kda. If your teammate builds a non-standard item that isn't obviously troll (like thornmail on jhin), don't criticize their items. You might provide helpful advice, like suggesting a player build maw since they are an ad champ vs a fed enemy kat; but you don't flame their build. If they are pulling away a fed enemy from the teamfight and giving you a 4v4 without the enemy's strongest champ, that's generally a good thing - don't complain that they aren't helping the team. If they are zoning 3 people every teamfight and are still the last one to die - it's not their fault you are losing; it's yours or your other teammates. So stop harassing them, improve YOUR play, and maybe listen to the the teammate you were harassing instead of making unhelpful comments to put them down all game.

Now watch this post get Downvoted into oblivion for someone actually suggesting players ADAPT and come up with different strategies, different builds, based on thier own UNIQUE PLAY STYLES (OMG NO! insert horrified scream here) This is why I say the "meta" as far as builds go has become a fundamentalist cult. if you DARE go outside the 'preapproved' meta, or build anything outside what "everyone else builds" or what you are "supposed to build". You are instantly deemed a troll, an outsider, and need to be reported,banned, and burned at the stake!

People arent allowed to express themselves through thier builds, are not allowed to come up with NEW builds that work in combination with other items or...THE RUNES THEY CHOOSE. No you are supposed to build only ONE specific way (coincidentally that way is "whatever I tell you to build according to my percieved idea of the current meta")

I have had games where the team has to deal with tanks, but no one is building armor pen, no one is building greivous or % health items. But the moment I try and build such items, I am flamed and greifed "Omg look at that build. Stop trolling and build -Properly-!" (They always demand I build the "proper" way or they will report me) This game has become a whole game of "Build MY way or ELSE!" by a bunch of toddlers who dont understand that not everyone plays THE SAME WAY. And the moment someone refuses to build as per their demands (notice I said -demand- not -suggest-) they will drop to the ground, call the player a troll, and throw the most infantile in-game temper tantrum (hense why I refer to them as toddlers). They will kick and scream and curse and throw the whole match because One player isnt going along with -their- schedule for the match.

So Yeah, Call me a troll all you want, Just means I Think differently than you. I dont go out of my way to ruin peoples games. I just have a different build strategy in mind. Most of the time my losses are not from my particular failings but one player who keeps trying to crack the whip on my back and get me to "fall in line" and build what THEY demand I build based on "ur build isnt meta" or "Thats not what you are supposed to build on X, Stop trolling and build properly!" This will often include but not limited to: -telling me how troll I am -telling me how completely worthless I am -telling me how I need to Never play Ranked/norms again -going into /all chat and trying to lobby for the other team to "Report our troll" -often refusing to assist (or gank if jungler) whatever lane I am in, happy to sit back and allow me to get 2/3v1'ed as 'punishment' for my off-meta build. -and overall telling me how completely garbage/trash of a player I am because I dont follow the 'flavor of the week' meta

basically be humble and give people the benefit of doubt instead of being an arrogant know-it-all. Some noob flamed my adc for going relic shield when he himself was the one that was not up to speed (korean overheal build).

and anyway if someone had a bad build it isnt likely he is the sole reason for all your deaths
